View 7 RepliesI know the android memory management is quite good, but is there an option for how many tasks are kept in the background before killed even if there is enough RAM?Is this possible by not using the setting in the developer options but some init.rc tweak?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Nexus 4 and I activated developer mode by typing 7 times on the build number. Is there any way I can disable developer mode so I will not be a developer anymore? I switch off in the developer options but I was wondering if I can remove that from settings for good and to not be registered as a developer anymore.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to permanently enable developer settings in AOSP Cyanogenmod 10.1 so they stick after a reboot? Disabling HW Overlays is necessary on the EVO 4G LTE with 4.2 AOSP roms, so after each reboot it is a bother to have to remember to enable it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have the old Nexus 7 with stock 4.4.2, and I want to enable developer settings.
I have found many references to Settings -> About (Tablet) -> And click 7 times on build number - but that simply does not work. I have tried tapping it 1 million times and nothing happens. If I tap "Android Version 4.4.2" in the same menu, I get the whole spinning K, kitkat, easter-egg game etc.
What am I missing? How do I enable developer settings?
I've been debating configuring my personal phone to access my employer's Exchange server; I would be checking it on occasion-- more of a convenience thing to know what's up before I head in for the day.
Using the default Android Mail client and choosing ActiveSync and doing the setup, I inevitably reach a screen with the following:
Quote:
Activate security policies?
Exchange security policies
Your IT administrator requires that you activate these security policies in order to sync with your Exchange Server.
Activating this administrator will allow the application Mail to perform the following operations:
! Erase all data
Perform a factory reset, which deletes all of your data without any confirmation.
! Set password rules
Restrict the types of passwords that you are allowed to use.
! Monitor screen-unlock attempts
Monitor failed attempts to log into your device.
! Lock the screen
Control when your device locks, requiring that you re-enter your password.
! Device function limitation
Restrict some function on device like Wifi, Bluetooth, Camera etc.
Needless to say, this is highly unappealing for my personal phone-- way too much power for the Mail application. So my questions-- what are my options?
-would a different Exchange connectivity application like Touchdown request those same permissions for access?
-would I be better off setting up ActiveSync on an alternate ROM and booting into that when I want to check work mail (not as frequently as some other users)?
-How far does that remote wipe control extend? Could they wipe the entire phone, including bootloader? Or is it just reference to internal storage? Could they wipe the external SD card?
-is there a way to revoke those permissions from the Mail application while retaining the ability to connect to the Exchange server?
I can access andriod system recovery but I cannot select the options.key combination to select the option I want.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI saw some previous posts on not using the task killers etc.... I wanted to ask whether one should end a particular ongoing active process or not or even for that matter "end all" active applications..... I know these active apps don't have any CPU usage but active apps r meant to use power rite? So should I use end or end all in the inbuilt task manager/power monitor widget or not to save my battery usage??
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhenever I use my browser (Boat Browser or all the others I've tried) to watch videos, I no longer have the option to "Open" or "Download" the file, it just automatically plays in the built in media player.. I want to use MX Player..I used to have the option of what to do with the video, but same thing happening with built in player..I have made sure all defaults were cleared, and I even tried uninstalling the Gallery that is linked with the camera.. No luck.
I'm running 4.3 on my tablet, and still have the option so obviously it is a 4.4 issue, and not a browser issue.
Volume up/down work for highlighting each option but power button will not select the highlighted option. How to select an option in system recovery for LG?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have two galaxy s3's and on one of them the screen lock gives me options to change it to how long i want it to wait until my screen locks and asks for a pin number.
However on the other one it is automatically set to immediately, how can i change this to 4 mins for example, it doesnt give me the options? It locks straight away and its annoying to have to put the pin in every time i pick up the phone as i am on it alot. Is there different versions of this S3?
I've heard from several sources and it's even in the app's description. How do I reply, delete, or archive from the Gmail app? I feel like I'm the only one not in on some big joke or something. I have found no conceivable way to do any of these actions with this app! I'm on a stock Droid DNA running 4.1 btw.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI restarted my phone because it was freezing and it turned on on the boot screen where it gives me options to Recover, Reboot, etc. The volume button broke a long time ago. It sometimes works to move the option but pushing the power button doesn't do anything. Is there anything I can do to restart my phone avoiding this screen? It goes there every time. Could one of the volume buttons be stuck?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy s4 that's stock 4.3 ROM but rooted and CWM. When I go into Network Mode (4g 3g or 2g) I only have WCDMA/GSM, WCDMA only and GSM only. How can I add the 4G LTE option to this menu? Do I need to flash another modem or what? I'd like to keep my current ROM in case I sell my phone and to avoid issues.

I'm looking to remove and add some options to the CM7 power menu.
I've been building CM7 from original source so which files control what's displayed in the power menu? There are just so many files it's going to take a very long time to work out which ones I need to modify.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there another menu that can be accessed in the newly released chrome browser where things like default zoom or user agent can be set? I have tried lots of about:* things and chrome://flags and such to no avail.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading to CM10.2 nightlies, I noticed that neither of my purchased back-up apps function as intended anymore.
ROM Toolbox Pro fails to backup phone data (such as SMS, accounts, dialer info... etc.), and Titanium Backup gives me an "insufficient free storage space" error any time I try to back up my apps. Now, I've already tried pretty much everything with Titanium Backup outside of installing SuperSU. I've changed the backup directory to every combination of emulated/legacy and sdcard0/legacy... etc. The only thing I can think of is that it doesn't play well with Koush's SuperUser app, but I don't want to bother removing it for SuperSU because it's integrated into the ROM nicely.
So is there any way to get Titanium Backup working properly with 4.3 ROMs? I'd like to use it ideally because the update.zip function really makes it the best backup option out there when it's working right.
Otherwise, are there any other backup apps that can backup apps/data/accounts/SMS with 4.3 ROMs without problems?
So my tether had been working perfectly up until yesterday. I have the full version plus the addon. Normally when I activate the hotspot it takes about 3 seconds then I get two drop down notifications in my top notification bar. The first says hotspot is active (blue wifi icon) and to click to view traffics, and if i click on it, i am directed to the main foxfi page. The second would say hotspot is active, and click to configure settings (this one had a white wifi icon). When I clicked on this one it would let me alter some settings. However, now this one is no longer showing up, and my tether is also not working. When I activate the hotspot, it takes twice as long, and then finally the blue icon pops up, but not the white one. The network is not identifiable even though foxfi says it is running.

Basically, which file edits the Mobile Network Settings options inside the Settings app? I tried using a different System.apk file with no luck. the options i need are still missing.
Is there anyway to change viewing options on the Droid X so that they are sorted by sender?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got an update on my Samsung Galaxy S3 today and after that i cannot find my wordlist (personal dictionary) or the possibility to adjust the "word completion point" The whole menu are now only about how to use other social media to "learn" the phone how you're typing.....

I'm running a Galaxy Nexus, and the ROM I'm currently on has a performance option in the Settings Menu, which gives control of the kernel and stuff. However, I'd rather use TricksterMod, and I would like to be able to launch TricksterMod from Settings instead of the Performance app.
So far, I've decompiled my Settings.apk, and looked through the files, and I'm not sure what to change.
I have to change settings esxmlsettings_headers.xml, correct? Specifically,
Code:
header android:icon="@drawable/ic_settings_performance" android:id="@id/performance_settings" android:title="@string/performance_settings_title" android:fragment="com.android.settings.performance.PerformanceSettings" />
I would also have to change settings esvaluesstrings.xml, specifically, the string referenced by "@string/performance_settings_title" so that I can have the correct name, correct?
And similarly, settings esdrawable, for the icon.
The big question is, what do I replace with for "com.android.settings.performance.PerformanceSetti ngs"? Do I need to move TricksterMod somewhere specific, or what would I reference? dataappcom.bigeyes0x0.trickstermod-1.apk?
After making all these changes, I'd simply recompile and push the Settings.apk back without signing, correct? Have I missed any steps?
I'm looking to hire a developer for a small project. It involves searching and sending a request to my server which will return results in XML format. The app will have to display the results. Then based on that, the user will click on of the results and the app will send another request to the server and return the last bit of data. So basically a GUI that requests and displays data. My server does all the work, basically. I have designed a GUI with photo shop from pre-existing screen shots, so the developer just needs to emulate what I've drafted up.
