Is a mod possible that displays the current data/network traffic speed in the status bar whenever there is any traffic? The text should be displayed whenever there is any traffic and hides automatically when there is no traffic. The place where date is displayed should be good.

I'm about ready to make the jump from iOS to Android. I am pretty deeply imbedded with Apple by having an iPad, macbook and family using apple. We use the iCloud calendar quite a bit so it would be a requirement that I continue to use it. What is the current situation with syncing and using a 4.4 os with iOS 7? I have read some stuff, but it was older. Has anything changed? Is it still something that can be done with relative ease? Those who are using it... Any caviets you noticed or wish you had done differently?

Even wen it is set to 'eneabled' my fone will now not:
- roam for signal
- download apps
It was never there to start with and everthing was fine!

Any widget that will display a moving google map with my current location centered? There are a couple apps I've found that are close, they just don't update in realtime. The reason I ask is because I have my 7" galaxy tab mounted in my truck. I use a program called torque to add gauge widgets (coolant temp,boost pressure, rpm,etc) to my home screen and would like to have a moving map display as well. I understand this would be a battery hog,but the tablet is always plugged in.

I already checked the LocationListener onStatusChanged method but somehow it seems that is not working, or just the wrong possibility. So basically i just need to know if the gps icon at the top of the screen is blinking (no actual fix) or solid (fix is available)..
I installed SetCPU and found it very confusing. I went into the market and uninstalled/refunded it. I got a message saying uninstall failed but it is no longer showing in my list of installed apps. My phone is very choppy/leggy now. Is there a way of checking my current CPU speed? I am wondering if when I uninstalled the app my CPU remained at my minimum setting.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy applications carries on processing when the user presses the home key, and generates status bar notifications if something happens the user requested to be notified about.
If a user holds the home key and then selects the application, it is restored in its correct state with the activity on top that showed when the user left.
However, since the intent that is associated with the status bar notification is FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK and I put in the class name of the activity that launched the application (I assume this is what I must do?), the launcher activity is started when the notification is "clicked". I can then switch the application back to the current activity by starting that "active" activity again, but then I seem to have two instances of the activity in memory, since I have to press back twice to leave it. And I suspect my activity stack is then messed up as well.
I have set the launcher activity to be singleTask, but that only helped a bit. From my reading I thought this would just give the task focus if the launcher activity is not on top, but instead it gives the launcher activity the focus.
Is there a way for a notification click to work more like the task switcher provided by long pressing the home button?
I have an XML preferences screen which is handled by addPreferencesFromResource. On it, there is a ListPreference, for which I want the summary to contain the current value of that preference. I think this would be a common requirement, as otherwise you could not see the present value of the preference without expending a click. I read that the summary field supports resource references, and I see that I can refer to preferences as android:summary="@+preference/prefname" in my ListPreference. Clearly this is why resource references would be supported in this field. However, when I try this, instead of the present value of prefname, the text "false" appears as the summary. Does anybody know how to display a current value without taking the seemingly ridiculous step of rewriting the entire (large) preference screen in Java?
View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter 18 months of dealing with Apple's crap, I switched to an Android. I picked up the AT&T Captivate yesterday at a store in another city (50 miles away) since my local store wasn't open on Sunday. I love this phone. The display is crisp, the response speed is smoking and surprisingly, I like the touch whiz interface, so far. I am having an issue however. When I left the store, I was on EDGE, and all was fine. Drove home on the EDGE network and had EDGE in town yesterday. When I got home I setup my wireless network on it and the web was crisp. Played for a bit, then went to bed. This morning, when I left for work and left range of my home wireless, The phone didn't pick up the EDGE network. ie. I have no EDGE connection. I've rebooted the phone and still no EDGE. (3G doesn't exist in this 1/2 horse town...sigh) I got EDGE pretty much everywhere with my I phone 3G in this crappy little town.

If it was a little short it would be great. If I go into the boot animation.zip there are two files. One is a file that just has a few numbers in it the other is a bunch of pictures. Does that number file determine the speed it displays those pictures?

Example: if I have a Preference setting for "Discard old messages" that specifies the number of days after which messages need to be cleaned up. In the PreferenceActivity I'd like the user to see:
"Discard old messages" <- title
"Clean up messages after x days" <- summary where x is the current Preference value

I used this sim on my iphone 3gs before and have no issue to get 3G signal at my house. Is there a setting somewhere that i can turnon or off 3G. I went to setting menu but only see wifi setting. On the iphone i can turn on or off 3G.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had my Hero on Orange for 4 or 5 days now and apart from when I first switched on the phone the weather app has just said "No weather data available" and the clock/weather widget has just had my location. I have the "location by cell" thing switched on, and I did manage to get it working once with the GPS, but other than that it just displays my location. It's the same whatever location I am in. The other cities download the weather just fine (London, Paris, New York, etc.). It's not like I'm somewhere tiny either, I am in Bromley. It doesn't make any difference whether I'm using WiFi or 3G.
