I am rooted with a SGS2 with Cyanogenmod Jelly Bean. how to disable UMTS but keep HSPDA and HSPA+?
Mobileuncle shows that my device is only on WCDMA 2000 with other frequencies grayed out...particularly WCDMA 850 which the one I want to access to get HSPA, right now only getting 2G.
It might be just a APN problem even though I've changed the APN several times with no results, so I'm wondering about changing the Frequency of the WCDMA, or accessing all frequencies?
Here's what I get from my phone status. I flashed back to stock and still not working.
Network: 02- uk
Mobile network time: GPRS
Service state: in service
Roaming: not roaming
Mobile network state: disconnected
My phone number: unknown...... HOW?
ERI version: not available
IMEI: (its there. Not sharing
Wifi MAC address: its there
Bluetooth address: unavailable
Serial number: its there
Device status: normal
i recently purchased samsung galaxy y...but there is no setting to put the phone to HSPA mode...it toggles in 3g(UMTS) and HSPA. is there any way to set it to HSPA permanently?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using my HTC Desire on virgin mobile and quite often find that it reports an HSPDA connection but no data appears. I checked the APN settings and I did not have proxy or port number, I now put in 193.30.166.4:8080. So I have 2 questions
Firstly what are the correct complete set of setting for virgin internet and MMS on Desire?
Secondly will these settings help solve the intermittent data issue, if not what will?
I was wondering if the icon of the 3G remains the same even if it connected to the HSPDA as my friend has an HTC desire and sometimes the 3G icon turns in H. I have the Xperia X10 Mini Pro

First thing I want to do is disable 2G/GSM and only use 3G/UMTS - I'm in central London and I have no need of swapping between the 2G/3G networks wasting battery. I can only disable 3G in settings.
I can't search these forums for "disable 2g" because "2g" is too short! "disable gsm" also nothing.
Google is also surprisingly light on results.
I have a strange situation. Two i7500 side by side, both on Galax0 1.6.3.3/JC6 and on the sam network, wireless settings exactly the same:
CODE:..........
The black one losses network quite often, while the white one never!
Does anybody know if there is a way of configuring UMTS in ServiceMode or is it a hrdware issue?
I'm developing a framework for android and i need to access directly to the Wifi interface and UMTS interface (make switch to other access point, send/receive MAC segments and others things in low layers). Can i do this in Java? or have to be in C++? and in C++, using the NDK?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was just thinking yesterday about download speeds and such and I remembered, just 10 years ago a T1 line was the standard for any real business to have internet access. T1 was so expensive also. only the people with real money could afford one to their home. T1 is a dedicated 1.5Mbps.
I could do anything I wanted with a T1 line.
Wimax will give me more then a T1. Why do I care about theoretical speeds that HSPA+ or LTE will give me? I don't.
I need some clarification on API docs.
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/telephony/SignalStreng... getSignalStrength() indicates: "Get the GSM Signal Strength, valid values are (0-31, 99) as defined in TS 27.007 8.5"
[url] getRSSI() indicates "received signal strength or UNKNOWN_RSSI if unknown For GSM, it is in "asu" ranging from 0 to 31 (dBm = -113 + 2*asu) 0 means "-113 dBm or less" and 31 means "-51 dBm or greater" For UMTS, it is the Level index of CPICH RSCP defined in TS 25.125"
So, for 3G UMTS networks, does the SignalStrength class not return the same value as the NeighboringCellInfo class ? What are the chances that each RIL implementation is sending something different ?
Has anyone see negative value for signalStrength on UMTS networks as is possible for RSCP index values ?
Does anyone know if there is an app to allow the user to select a specific UMTS/GSM band? If it isnt already supported, will it be supported?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have my Desire on the Telus network, and I noticed that the icon on the top bar shows and "H" instead of 3G. Is 3G the same has HSPA? I know Telus runs the HSPA+ network but I'm just wondering if there is something wrong with my settings or device.

It is a bit of a moot point, if the vision/vanguard has a bigger screen and real keyboard i will be re boxing the vibrant and limping the G1 into September.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHTC G2 appearance wise look like the Nexus 2, but hardware it's a different beast. i just saw this HSPA+ result from android central and i cant believe. T-mobile might have the worst coverage, but where i live, it's pretty damage good and comparable to Sprint 4G. But seeing this, it totally blew my mind away. Is it possible??

View 5 Replies View RelatedI bought a Htc Desire which is a Telus phone it is supposed to be unlocked and runs on Hspa 1900mhz and 850 mhz, but Sasktel's website says that it doesn't seem to be compatible. So the question is why? It appears this device is not compatible with the SaskTel 3G+ network. If you believe your device should be compatible and the tool does not recognize it, please bring it to a SaskTel store or authorized dealer for more information.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't really use it and i prefer the normal Android home sceens way better than Magazine UX and it is very limited and have no use for it.
I would like to disable the Magazine UX on my Tab Pro 8.4.
And i don't really want to root/custom ROM the Tab Pro 8.4 just to remove Magazine UX.
how to disable Magazine UX on my Samsung Tab Pro 8.4? How to remove Magazine UX?
If i can't disable Magazine UX then it won't be a big deal breaker anyway because it does not slow down my Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4.
I've recently switched from an iPhone to a Samsung Galaxy 4. While there are a few issues in adjusting, one major annoyance I am finding is something called 'Google Now' popping up wanting setup. Frankly I'm sick of this doing so and want it to go away, but I don't know how. I've disabled Google notifications and push, but it still keeps coming up - it just seems random with no pattern as to what I am using or doing. I can't delete it because it's not in Apps. There seems to be nothing about how to get rid of it on the 'net unless it's installed - which it's not.
I throw this phone into a wall. I'm loving 90% of it, except for all the maddening and idiotic notifications, prompts, and insistence to install useless rubbish I don't want... such as Google Now.
how to disable certain noti.? All i can find is how to disable them if you have jellybean and i dont.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOn 4.2, I'm batch restoring apps in titanium backup. Every app restored requires a "Do you want to install this application?" prompt which requires me to click "Next" one or more times, then "Install" before it'll restore that app. This becomes tedious. Back on 4.1 it would just do all my apps without my intervention. I have unticked Settings>Security>Verify apps.

The screen dims even when it is plugged into the charger. Gets annoying when I have it mounted as an MP3 player in the car for example, or even if I'm just using it in bright light.
The maximum screen dim level setting is too dark to see.
Is there any way to disable logcat? I tried the build.prop entry method but it still runs. I was just trying to see if there are any other methods? SPH-D710
