General :: I9100 / 4.0.3 - How To Disable Useless Services To Save Power
Apr 3, 2012Recently, my phone is leaking power in a crazy speed. (i9100 4.0.3). Before sleep, I turned off bluetooth, wifi, 3G, gps, all motion sensors. Switched it to flight mode. After about 7-hour sleep, 10% battery was lost. This happened for the last few month.
I installed DX BatteryBooster, from its monitor I learnt that almost all the power went to Android System, if click at it, it says included packages:
Remote Device Management Service.
Software update
Video Maker
What are these services how do I turn them off?

Dec 30, 2013I need to delete Google Play Service completely from my phone or totally disable it! Even when I disable it, using phone "disable feature" Google play service and all it's apps are still eating my battery 45% (Running). The only way to kill it it's root my phone? I can't find way to contact Google or Android there is no email on the internet! Many people want to delete Google Play Services I've seen a lot of threads but found no solution! I don't need Google Play Services at all.

Apr 11, 2012After an OTA upgrade to 4.0.4 on my Nexus S i started getting shocking battery drain from Exchange Services regardless of sync settings on my corporat email account.
To try and stop it i disabled Exchange Services but I cant see where to start it again? I have no Exchange Services app listed any more and cant even sync Outlook mail manually.
I've rebooted the phone and removed/readded the account but I just get a "cant connect to server" error.

The problem is that none of the google services appaear to be able to connect despite the presence of a working internet connection.
Even the Playstore display the famous "no connection...retry" message.I have tried to rebbot....factory reset...checking if the time is correct.
The host file in the etc folder display only the line 127.0.0.1 localhost line.what i have to do?

General :: Google Play Services That Won't Install On Some ROMs
Apr 24, 2013after I had surfing internet for a while, I had found a workaround and successfully installed Google Play Services on my device (GT-S5300) with custom rom.

Steps:
1. Download Gapps for your ROM here.
2. Turn off your phone.
3. Enter recovery mode and do Wipe data/factory reset. (Make sure that you have backed up everything.)
4. Flash the Gapps.
5. Wipe Dalvik cache and cache partition then reboot.
6. Get the lastest version of Google Play Store and install it.
7. Update all the Gapps via Play Store.
8. Then install Google Play Services and done!
Or open the Market (Play Store) and tap agree. Then press home and leave it awhile. After the Play Store is updated, open it and tap agree again. The new Play Store should download Google Play Services and install it for you.
NOTE: It may NOT working with some ROMs.

Feb 7, 2014Before that, I was on CM 10.2 and GAPPS that comes with it, I was able to use the market even though I uninstalled the Google services apk, everything worked just fine. Maps sometimes said somethin' like "best experience with google services", but it actually did work smoothy...
Now I installed CM11 with new GAPPS, and when I disable Google services, then Play store tells me that it can't run without it, and just closes without letting me download any app.
Is there any way do bypass this check ? I fight any app running as a service when it's not needed (battery life, data consumsion, privacy), that's why I don't want to have the Google services on my phone.

I think it's a shame there are so many people in so many countries prevented from bying content on play store. Thought first of a petition, but not sure it can have effects. Had a look on xda, there is already a old thread on the subject but not working for most of the repliers, specially me.
Thought some developers would be interested in giving acces to a larger number of people. Looks like more justice to me.

Jun 16, 2013I have a HTC One running JB 4.1.2. I am confused by the location settings available in various places in jelly bean. In my previous phone running gingerbread, all the location related settings were under 1 tab. In JB, its under various tabs and apps. I am wondering what purpose some of these settings cater to. I am listing all the location related settings available in JB 4.1 below:
1. settings > Accounts & Sync > Google > Location settings > Let Google apps access your location.I believe this setting has to be enabled for google services such as maps, google now, google+, etc. to function.
2. settings > Location > Google's location service the description is given as 'allows anonymous location data to be sent to google. Also allows permitted apps to use data from sources such as wifi and mobile networks to determine your approximate location.'
settings > Location >Location & Google search.Description: 'Location used to improve google search results and other google services'
3. Google maps > settings > location settings > Under background location reporting > Location reporting (has 3 options: automatically detect my location, update location manually, do not update location)
Google maps > settings > location settings > Under background location reporting > Report from this device.If you use the above location reporting option and use same username for multiple devices, on whichever device you select this option will only report location.
There are also other options under this setting like enable location sharing, enable location history, etc.From my research, i found out if you wish to use maps and like google search results tailored to your location, then 'Let Google apps access your location' and 'Location & Google search' setting need to be enabled. Also for information, i have disabled 'Location reporting' setting listed in No .3 by selecting 'do not update location' and also disabled all other location settings listed in No. 3. But it has not affected google maps, google search, weather, google news.
I wish to know what exactly 'Google's location service' setting listed in 2 and 'Location reporting' setting in 3 does. Which apps do they exist for? I am asking this because some of these location settings i have listed above appear to have similar functionality going by their description (though that would not be the case) and i wish to know the difference. I also wish to safely disable some of these settings to conserve battery but without affecting functionality of apps like maps, search, news, weather.
