General :: Can Change UMTS / WCDMA Frequency On Android?

Aug 23, 2013

Mobileuncle shows that my device is only on WCDMA 2000 with other frequencies grayed out...particularly WCDMA 850 which the one I want to access to get HSPA, right now only getting 2G.

It might be just a APN problem even though I've changed the APN several times with no results, so I'm wondering about changing the Frequency of the WCDMA, or accessing all frequencies?

General :: THL200 Mediatek MT6592H CPU Frequency Change

Apr 4, 2014

I have successfully rooted my T200 via Farmaroot, and got some utilities like cpuset on it to check for frequency.

On the Octocore MT6592, I notice some unique things:

In any other setting than hotplug, and utilizing the cfq scheduler the phone underperforms with Antutu benchmark with any other setting.

Both my min and max frequency at set at 1663.

The phone runs the stock build:
Android 4.2.2
Kernel 3.4.49
thl.T200.158A.20140221.JB9.FHD.EN.COM.16P256_MT659 W_V2.0.13

However, reading through the mediatek's website for the chipset, it appears it can handle a max frequency of 2Ghz. For testing purposes I'd like to set that. And give it a try.

Android :: Possible With Droid / Java To Change Frequency Of A Soundfile?

Sep 17, 2010

I try to change the frequency of a single soundfile. I managed to do that in android with the SoundPool thing. But the result sounds really bad.
So I stepped about the Fourier Transformation - but I am not sure if this is what I am looking for.

I want to load a single file and change the frequency of that file every time that file is played. So I can create melodies out of one tone. Is that possible with android/java?

Just got the 2.1 OTA upgrade on my Eris. The mail client is stuck on "manual" for my Exchange account. I deleted the account and re-added it, but it still won't let me change it. I can select "as items arrive" or any of the other schedules, but as soon as I leave that screen and go back to it I find that it's set back to manual. Any ideas?

General :: Forcing / Enable WCDMA 900 On THL W8S?

Sep 8, 2013

I've bought a THL W8S cell phone. The problem is, this cell doesn't support WCDMA 900 band. Only 850 and 2100. The phone operator (Wind) in my zone only support WCDMA900, so if I switch it in 3G the phone lost signal. If I keep it in 2G, it works fine but data navigation is slow.

I need to know if there's any way to force THL W8S to receive WCDMA900, or I will be forced to resend cell to China.

Android :: Signal Strength Data For WCDMA

Apr 18, 2010

I'm writing an app to monitor detailed radio data coming off the phone that I'm sending back to my own server that is collecting this information from a number of different devices. The purpose is to analyze the data from all devices, and generate a kind of "real-time network coverage" pattern.

The data I'm looking for is "Eb/No". From what I understand this is interchangeable with the term "Ec/Io". My first approach lead me to the new Signal Strength (http://developer.android.com/reference/ android/telephony/SignalStrength.html) support in Android 2.1. This is great, however you can only get Ec/Io values for "CDMA" and "EVDO" networks. My problem is that I'm on ATT, where I'm "WCDMA".

I was hoping Android would give me the "CDMA" values from Signal Strength changes (since "WCDMA" is somewhat similiar to "CDMA"), however the update has the gsm flag set to true, and it's giving me values for the gsm signal strength and gsm bit error rate instead.

For example, in my PhoneStateListener:

Android :: UMTS Signal Strength - RSCP Or RSSI

Sep 27, 2010

I need some clarification on API docs.

http://developer.android.com/reference/android/telephony/SignalStreng... getSignalStrength() indicates: "Get the GSM Signal Strength, valid values are (0-31, 99) as defined in TS 27.007 8.5"

[url] getRSSI() indicates "received signal strength or UNKNOWN_RSSI if unknown For GSM, it is in "asu" ranging from 0 to 31 (dBm = -113 + 2*asu) 0 means "-113 dBm or less" and 31 means "-51 dBm or greater" For UMTS, it is the Level index of CPICH RSCP defined in TS 25.125"

So, for 3G UMTS networks, does the SignalStrength class not return the same value as the NeighboringCellInfo class ? What are the chances that each RIL implementation is sending something different ?

Has anyone see negative value for signalStrength on UMTS networks as is possible for RSCP index values ?

General :: Unable To Scale CPU Frequency On Phone

Feb 3, 2013

I have a ROOTED chinese brand phone with the MTk6575 CPU (1 GHZ) with android 2.3.6 installed on it, and am trying to improve the phone's battery life by scaling down the CPU frequency. But out of all the apps I have tried (SetCPU, No-Frills, Android Overclock) none of them is able to read the CPU Governor or current CPU frequency. My question is could we change this frequency directly by editing any of the files inside the /system folder or is there any other security setting that prevents these apps from reading or changing the CPU frequencies?

HTC Hero :: Disabling 2G/GSM And Only Use 3G/UMTS

Brand new Hero (completely sim-free :) owner for 22 hours. Updated with new firmware etc.

First thing I want to do is disable 2G/GSM and only use 3G/UMTS - I'm in central London and I have no need of swapping between the 2G/3G networks wasting battery. I can only disable 3G in settings.

I can't search these forums for "disable 2g" because "2g" is too short! "disable gsm" also nothing.

Google is also surprisingly light on results.

HTC Tattoo :: WCDMA And 3.5G / Are They The Same Thing?

Apr 10, 2010

I'm pretty confused about the Network Mode settings in my Tattoo so perhaps one of you fine folks could help me?My phone is currently set for Network mode: GSM / WCDMA auto which seems to be the only options I can find. In the status bar my connection speed switches from G to 3G automatically, which is fine.My question is whether this is still ok for the 3.5G areas. I think it should change from '3G' to 'H' but I've never been in a covered area to see if this happens. I cannot see an HSDPA option which is what I was expecting but I have a feeling that the WCDMA covers this. Is this right?I suppose it basically boils down to why the network mode is "GSM / WCDMA" and not "GSM / WCDMA / HSDPA"?I know the Tattoo supports HSDPA but I cant find it anywhere among the options.I'm probably making this far more confusing than it should be.

General :: 3G Frequency Of Phone Is Hardware Or Firmware Dependent?

Dec 2, 2012

I am asking this because recently bought a BLU VIVO D910a phone from U.S., it has Android 4.0 firmware and its 3G Network is HSDPA 850 / 1900.

I made a big mistake, because the country where I currently live and work (Montenegro) uses 2100 3G network. I shoud have ordered the international version of BLU Vivo, the D910i which has HSDPA 850 / 2100. So, currently I cannot make use of the 3G data capability of my new phone

My question is: if I get the firmware (or just the modem.bin) of D910i and flash it to my phone will I change by this way the 3G frequency or it is hardware-dependent?

Motorola Milestone :: WCDMA Preferred Option Won't Stick

May 29, 2010

I just got my Milestone from Vivo (Brazil), but since Vivo is legally bound to unlock it upon request, I use it on TIM. It already came with android 2.1.I am used to TIM's coverage in my region and I am noticing that Milestone hardly ever gets 3G signal on areas with good coverage on my old N95, except when I set it to WCDMA only, when it works great with 3g.However, since there are areas where 3g coverage is not available, I try to set it to WCDMA Preferred option with no success. As soon as I leave the screen settings go back to default (GSM Auto PRL) and 3G picks up for like 5 minutes in a whole day.Anyone's got the same issue? Know how to make the option stick? Is this a network restriction?
