General :: How To Crack Keystore File

Feb 9, 2012

I developed an Android game with a colleague and uploaded it to my Developer account. I created an update and it's ready to upload, but I realized I can't use the same package name because I don't have the password for the keystore because it was created by my colleague and he no longer works with us. The current version of the game has already gotten tens of thousands of downloads and many good reviews, so I want to be able to keep the same package name so I can upload the update as an update, instead of uploading it as a new app. Is there any way to crack the keystore file without knowing the password?

Android :: Create BKS Keystore File For SSL Support Of Web Server And Handshake Process

Nov 9, 2009

I'm working on a litte HTTP server application for the Android. Now I like to secure the communication by using SSL. But I got stuck by creating a suitable keystore file. Searching the archives I came to the conclusion that it will be best to use a BKS type keystore since all other keystore types (like JKS) are not supported on the android.

Unfortunately I can't figure out a way to setup the keystore file. I tried OpenSSL - wrong keystore format. I tried the keytool from JDK - right keystore format but it doesn't support BKS keystores. I tried the Keytool IUI - I could create a BKS type keystore but it alwais ends up in an InvalidKeyException "Illegal key size". No matter if I try to create a new certificate or import it from a JKS keystore. (I tried to create the RSA ver.3 certificate with a key size of 2048 and 1024 bits.) How do you create BKS keystores?

For completeness here's the code I trying to use for loading the keystore:..............................

HTC EVO 4G :: Pressure Crack On Back Camera Lens

Jun 9, 2010

Thought I had a horizontal scratch running across the back camera glass element. After investigating with my finger nail and then looking at it from an angle I've determined it's not a scratch but a pressure crack. My fingernail can't get caught anywhere on the surface, but when you view it from an angle it looks extremely deep (basically the thickness of the glass).

HTC EVO 4G :: Scratch Resistant But Got Long Crack On Screen

Jun 28, 2010

I was recently told by a Sprint phone "May I speak to a manager" guy that the EVO screen is Gorilla Glass, which he said, "Doesn't really scratch," even though I have a long crack on my EVO screen from just carrying it in my pocket with nothing else. (I've been so Honeymooning over it I haven't put it in my purse or backpack, or even in the same pocket as the headphones I use with it!)

My real question is:
Is there any way I can repair this? The touch screen works fine over the crack, and I can't feel it with the pad of my finger, but it is noticeable when I slight my nail over it. It runs from the start of the glass on the top to over a third of the way down the screen, and shows some pixel reflection, especially on white backgrounds. I'm willing to try at home methods, but do not wish to sand the glass down on the touch screen. If it can't be repaired, does anyone know of any screen protectors that minimize the visibility? I've seen some that bubble on the screen, and others that are so thick they make the scratch stand out.

Motorola Droid X :: Dropped Phone - Crack Across Screen

Nov 10, 2010

I had a couple of low height drops that didn't result in any damage. The phone is actually really tough. But the other day I found out how tough it really is. I had it in my car between my legs and when I got out and stood up, down it went, face first on to an asphalt parking lot. It made a sound unlike it had before, and I knew right away. There is one small crack running from about 3 o'clock to about 1 o'clock running diagonally across the screen. Surprisingly, everything still works as it should and the crack hasn't spread. I do have a screen protector, and I think that is the only thing that may have kept it from being worse.

I also had the hard silicone cover on as well. A quick call to VZW to see what I could do, $90 for a claim through Assurance. Not really what I wanted to hear). I will admit that I did not check on claim deductible prices when getting insurance. I expected to hear $25 or $30 maybe; but not $90. I can't upgrade again until July of next year and I really hate this happened because I'm basically stuck with the phone. I have no options other than filing the insurance claim or buying a new phone at full retail price. Is there any fix for the screen I could possibly do myself, or am I just screwed?

Samsung Vibrant :: Small Crack Running Under The Screen

Oct 6, 2010

I upgraded (through tmobile) from a G1 (which I had since launch date, and loved until it just became too slow and all support ended) three weeks ago. I went to the tmobile store, and checked out the options. I LOVED the Vibrant, but I had some concerns over it's apparent "flimsieness"... the sales rep assured me that it only felt breakable, and that the Gorilla Glass screen and other features of the construction made it just as durable as all other phones. So, I got it.

I love it, still.

Thing is, last night, I picked it up off my desk, and it would not unlock. When I looked closer, I could see a small crack running under the screen. The phone has never been dropped, never been hit with any impact... nothing. It has never been out of my possession, never been water damaged... nothing. But, now, it has this cracked screen and won't unlock, won't do anything. Plus, now this morning it is showing a completely pink screen.

Of course, I know these (and all tiny little smartphones) are fragile. I have insurance for that very reason. If I break my phone, I am more than willing to pay the $130 through insurance to replace it. But, I do not feel like I (or anyone else, for that matter) broke this thing. The most impact it has had on the screen is button use on the touchscreen. If this thing is going to do this as a result of normal (actually, probably lighter-than-normal) use, I feel like it is insane for tmobile to expect me to pay for the claim. I do not think it is reasonable to ask a customer to pay $130 for a new phone 3 weeks into owning it, when it has not been damaged due to any human error or damage.

I had a Ghost Armor protector on it, and it was in a plastic protective shell, and it shows NO signs of damage beyond the messed up screen. I feel like that, coupled with the GPS thing (the awesome GPS was the second main selling point the sales rep spouted, after the Gorilla Glass screen!) and the fact that tmobile inexplicably removed my unlimited text option ("accidentally" according to them), should mean something to someone.

So, any ideas for options here? Is there ANY chance that I can tmobile's warranty people to regard this as a warranty issue and not an insurance issue? I do not want to be $400 into a new phone after just 3 weeks, especially with no solid GPS, no Froyo, and the other issues. I have been with tmobile for 5 years, and always justified it by their good customer service; so how can i get that customer care to work for ME now?

Since i have external libraries that uses another keystore and use the shareUserId, it would be reasonable to let, in eclipse plugin, you debug an application using any keystore.Any tips of how to make debugging easy with a private keystore?

Android :: Distinguished Name In Keystore For Market?

Jul 19, 2010

I'm about to release an application in the Android Market. I need to generate a keystore to sign my application. The docs are a little spares on what I'm support to put into for the -dname param. Here is the line I'm using: keytool -genkey -v -alias release -keyalg RSA -keysize 2048 -dname "CN=mydomain.com" -keystore my.keystore -validity 10000

What is required in the -dname (Distinguished Name) field? I found out that I can include the CN field. Are there other fields that I must put in before the Market will accept the app? Any good optional ones to put in? Updated I found out I can examine other apk's by using: jarsigner -verify -verbose -certs nameof.apk

Now i need to generate the MD5 for my MapViews. I tried using the cmd prompt to generate it, but everytime it states that no such file exists. Is there somewhere special i need to be storing the keystore so the keytool has access to it? Also, once i get the MD5 fingerprint, all i have to do is insert it and re-compile and sign my application (the same way i previously did it). Am i correct on that assumption? I've read through the developer docs and I'm still unclear on the whole process.
