View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm learning about the android. Now, I want to display a button that can turn off the screen. That is when the user click the button the screen off as the user click the power button. How can I do this?
View 1 Replies View Relateddoes anyone know if its possible or what app would be used to have the optical button work the same as the power button on the top of the phone. so if you push the button it would light the display up. or maybe its not even possible.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried searching for this but couldn't find a thread that discussed it. My power button appears as though its been jammed. I dropped my phone on its corner where the power button is but I don't think thats what the problem is. Anyhow, recently my power button responds but I have to really press it hard and it as though the button is jammed cause it doesn't depress as far.
My question is that is there a way to designate the camera button to become the power button? I know on some phones you can make different buttons do different things and I was curious if this was possible on the Droid.
Is there a way to set a different button to turn the screen on to unlock the phone? An app or anywhere in settings?I hate touching the top button to turn on screen. What would be ideal is hitting a pattern on the bottom 4 buttons and then it unlock even without the swipe.Say my code is like hitting search twice then menu once then home once and the phone comes on.No swipe necessary.
View 20 Replies View RelatedI recently got an HTC Desire. I noticed a hairline scratch on the screen and I buffed it out with toothpaste and flannel. Something I've noticed is that fingerprints and oil get caught a lot easier in the area I buffed the scratch out in? Did I like wash some fingerprint coating or something? I washed the screen already but problem still persists.
View 11 Replies View RelatedWell my f'ing Honda key did it again! It got my Eris and now my Incredible. God I am so careful not to put anything in the same pocket as my phone but the one time I was out in board shorts and had to put them in there together all over my screen! I hate screen protectors because I LOVE the feel of the glass and hated my Droid with its Zaggs protector. Oh well I guess I have proof for anyone thinking these screens are scratch proof.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLast night I dropped my phone while getting out of the car and it hit the pavement and skidded a couple feet. There is a hairline scratch across the screen now. It's not a deep gouge so I'm hoping it can be buffed out somehow. Any advice? I'm really bummed about messing up my new Incredible

View 15 Replies View RelatedNew to android programming and I would like to create an app that runs when the power button is pressed (the phone will already be 'on' as such but the screen 'off')
So - one press of the power button to 'activate/show' the screen will make the app run (without requireing the user to unlock the screen).
Is this possible. How do I capture the 'power button press' event and then direct it to run *app xxx*.
I just got my Droid but the power button seems to feel mushy clicky instead of how a button should feel with a proper click when engaging. What about you guys? Mine like mushy click feel but if I press dead center then its a near perfect less mushy click.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI could not charge the handset and it automatically powered down last night. Thereafter I restarted it again without charging it and as expected it powered down after a few minutes. This morning I plugged in the handset for charging and then pressed the power button to put the handset in to 'sleep', to my surprise it did not work. I ignored it and left it for charging and when I checked back the handset had automatically gone to 'sleep'. I tried to wake it up by pressing the power button, but it did not work. The only way I can wake up the handset is either by calling it or plugging in the charger. I tried all of the following but none of them worked.
1. Removed the battery and left the handset for a few minutes and restarted it.
2. Removed the SD card and restarted it.
3. Removed the SIM card and restarted it.
4. Removed both the SD and SIM cards and restarted it.
On an Android device, where the only buttons are the volume buttons and a power button, I want to make the app react to presses on the power button (long and short). How is this done?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFound using these two apps from the market allows me to hardly ever have to use the power button (only for power off/on situations). Which is great because I know there has been reported issues of the button sinking in.
Screen Off: $0.99
No Lock: free
I'm wondering if there is another way to wake up the screen besides pushing the power button every time? Is this an Android thing? I believe my roommates Droid does the same thing. I think there are similar threads for this I just suck at searching this forum So are there any alternatives to waking up our screens on the Evo without using the power button every time?
View 49 Replies View RelatedIs it at all possible to end phone calls by pressing the power button on the top of the phone? I got used to this on my girlfriend's iPhone and like it a lot better than ending the call by pressing the screen. Is there an app for this? Or a setting?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs the days have gone by, i have started to notice that the power button on my evo might "recessed" more, because it has gotten to the point that the only way i know i press it is because the screen turns on. Reason for an exchange?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI read before where someone used some old, thin rubber from some headphones to replace the foam on the power button after disassembly. Send me pictures or anything of the sort showing how to do this? I really need to fix it, and I want to do it myself, but I don't want to turn my phone into a paperweight. "how to" guide on this issue and some reassurance that everything I take off can be put right back on if not broken.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Galaxy Note II. When I have it in the side pocket of my pants I sometimes reboot the damn thing by crouching down. I listen to audio books when renovating my cabin (which is going to take a month or so more), and this has happened 4-5 times today! So I'd like to disable that button all together. It just has an idiotic placement on the phone. I prefered my old HD2, that had a power button on the front that actually took a bit of pusing. This thing is pressed by looking hard at it!
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe power button no longer works to turn the phone display off when the phone display is on. It works when the phone display is off to turn the phone display on and it works when I press and hold it to display the phone options menu.
View 10 Replies View RelatedIm sending in my droid to verizon since my power button was not working and they sent me a replacement. Before I sent it in I wanted to remove root so I went into rom manager and chose a stock image to flash hoping it would do the job. Unfortunately, after I did it Superuser permission is still there. I would just use RSD Lite but since I cant get my phone to access the boot loader screen I cant get RSD Lite to recognize my phone. I was going to try to flash the older stock image from rom manager thinking maybe that would work but now when I try and flash any rom through rom manager I get this message; "an error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands". I also read that maybe quick boot would do the trick but it just force closes every time, making me think that maybe the phone isnt rooted but just has superuser permission listed(is that possible)? Is my phone still rooted?
View 22 Replies View RelatedI've had my droid for about a week now and about two days ago the power button stopped working and is now completly unresponsive.I can't power off the phone without taking out the battery. Good thing that sliding the keyboard out wakes the screen so I can unlock it.I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this problem or is it possible this is just a defect and I should get a replacement also I have tried doing the factory reset to see if it was some app I may have installed causing the problem but its still not working.
