Feb 20, 2014I am using the CM Badadroid 4.1.1 ROM with default 120mb zram, but i found it extremely slow on my Samsung Wave II. I added the swap script provided by darklight2k2, however, it does not show in the terminal. The only thing i see is 120mb of zram. I imagine it has priority over the swap script i added, so i am wondering how can i disable it? It seems like in the latest Badadroid version, the zram option in Performance settings has been removed.

Mar 19, 2014I have a Gionee Pioneer P3. It comes with ZRAM enabled by default. That's over 300MB for ZRAM. I'd like to disable this zram so that I will have more RAM. I ran swapoff /dev/block/zram0 to disable zram. It did get disabled as seen in the screenshot above. However, when I run "free" command, I see that the amount of RAM has not increased.
How can I make the zram partition available to normal RAM?

May 20, 2010I just bought an unlocked HTC Desire from Hong Kong. I haven't put a sim card in it yet as I'm waiting for my old plan to live out its contract, but I couldn't resist having a play with the Desire in the mean time Because I bought it from overseas I can only seem to set my default language as English and then in brackets many Asian country options, eg English (Thailand) and English (Singapore). This would be fine except it is becoming frustrating when typing because all of the predictive text etc has many Asian characters in it and I'm struggling to write accurately.I've tried turning off predictive text and 'check invalid sequence', but it doesnt seem to work? I also tried downloading the application 'more locale 2' which had english (australian) but it doesnt seem to affect the keyboard. Does anyone have any advice regarding how to change the initial language setting? Is there any chance that when I put an Australian sim card into it the language options will change?

May 19, 2010I might have been hallucinating before, but I swear that the Google Maps app would track my location with the direction of travel always at the top of the screen - the 'track up' feature for most standalone GPS units.
Now when I track my location, it has me going left to right or right to left. Is there some setting that I changed? I recall several updates the past few days. Makes me wonder if that has anything to do with it. Thoughts?

On my BB I could start typing any info associated with a contact ie. company, first name, last name, phone number and it would automatically start showing any contacts that matched as I typed. On my Captivate I can only search phone number and name. My problem is that I have so many business contacts that I often forget the people's names associated with the business' I work with. Is there a setting that I can change that would allow me to search any info I have in a contact, or is this just how the Captivate searches.

Feb 6, 2010On the Nexus One (at least in 2.1-update1, and I think in 2.1), there is a setting under Sound & Display: "Pulse notification light". This doesn't seem to be present on the "2.1 with Google APIs" emulator image. I've not yet checked any other devices. I want to set this programmatically without user interaction, in order to make a Locale plugin, so the device can grab my attention when I'm awake at my desk, without having it floodlighting the room when someone spams me at 4am. It's quite bright.
I didn't see it in android.provider.Settings.System where many other things on this screen live, so I had a look in the platform source. There are some relevant parts in NotificationManagerService, in enqueueNotificationWithTag and updateLightsLocked. That goes off into HardwareService which seems well past the point of caring about user settings. I've no idea where this setting is implemented or how I might influence it. I fully expect the answer to be "there is no API for this" (perhaps related to it being Nexus One specific), and that the best I can do is to schedule (using Locale or something else) an Intent of ACTION_DISPLAY_SETTINGS to remind me to set the box manually, which would suck. I'm hoping that I've missed something, or that a Googler is reading this and can tell me that this is planned for addition to the API?

Aug 29, 2010I have been using the official lastfm client, and it has a few things that bug me, the main one being that if I'm listing to music, and my mobile rings, lastfm stays in front of the answer button so i cant receive calls.
I also tried "alastfm-player" and the buffer keeps running out, so the music skips, and today it done a thing where it played like 3 sec of 1 song, then played 3 sec of the next etc , for about 10 songs till i stopped it if i could just change a setting in alastfm-player to increase the buffer i would use that as i prefer it to the official client. any one know any other last FM players? i just use it for the "recommended" stream.

However, I later decided that I want it to launch the link in a browser (so I can read comments) instead of playing instantly after clicking the link.
I tried "Clear defaults" under settings>applications>manage applications but there is no settings for youtube. I tried to clear defaults for facebook and my browser, and tried reinstalling the facebook app but no luck.
Android :: DDMS Not Showing Threads From Device / Need To Change Particular Setting In Eclipse?
May 22, 2010I'd like to check for memory leaks in my Android app using the DDMS feature in Eclipse. When I launch an emulated device, the threads display properly for the emulated device, starting with 8600 and up.
However, when I connect my Droid to the PC, the device shows up just fine in DDMS. The logcat is generated correctly, and I can view the file structure. However, threads do not display. I get "no client selected" in the Threads pane, and there is no drop-down icon next to the device listing.
Do I need to change some particular setting in Eclipse? Is this maybe a driver issue?

Dec 24, 2009I wrote a http proxy on Android 1.5 four months ago. It can work properly on both 1.5 and 1.6 emulator, with APN proxy setting to 127.0.0.1. However, when i port this app to 2.0.1, it's not working anymore. Did browser on emulator 2.0.1 change its behavior? It seems that the browser no longer consider APN proxy as http proxy anymore. Or it's simply a bug on emulator?
