May 30, 2012I have an LG spectrum and I want to root it very badly. However, with an android 4.0 update in the near future, I am afraid that rooting my phone will not allow me to get ice cream sandwich in about a month or so.
I am planning on rooting manually, using an article I found.
Before I root though, I would like to know if I can (or need to) unroot in order to receive an OTA update android 4.0 from verizon or if I need to take my phone in to get fixed for any reason.

The file itself can be opened with WinRAR, but shows that it was signed by SignAPK.
My question is this, What should I theoretically need to do in order to inject root into this so that when the update runs on the phone, it adds SU to the system directory with the correct permission settings?

Jan 20, 2014I recently had a problem with my LG Spectrum that required a hard reset to restart the OS. I wasn't aware the photos were being encrypted. When the reset was done the phone required I enter a passcode. I entered every known passcode I have and still could not get the phone to recognize the photos on the microSD card. Is there a work around for this process? I have over a years worth of pictures on the microSD card. The LG Spectrum model is a VS920.

Sep 15, 2010I'm looking to get an Android based phone and I thought I had decided on one, but since then I keep seeing other options and I'm not sure what to go with any more. It would be nice if anyone could point me to the best option for me. The only things I'm looking for in an android phone specifically is the ability to call, text (very little chance this won't be included :P) and GPS. I do not want a high-end one, and I certainly don't want one which has an enormous screen/form like the Desire, Galaxy S or likewise. I'm looking to spend no more than �250, but would prefer the option to be sub-�200 and possible to buy in the UK. I'm not looking for a contract or branded, and want to buy it outright, so importing can be an option assuming it's not troublesome. It's important that the tech be powerful enough that the UI isn't sluggish and is fairly responsive. A nice plus would be to have WiFi capability, with it being possible to tether. The phone I was originally looking at was the HTC Wildfire, and the only downside I could find about the phone was the screen resolution. Then I seen an announcement for the new LG Optimus One and became unsure and thought there may be another better option around.

Jun 4, 2013I let Google Now set itself up on my S3 about 2-3 months ago. I thought it was kinda cool but I didn't feel like messing with it too much at the time. I did, however, see the "Search, or say Google" feature. I spoke the word "Google" and sure enough it activated, and I spoke the generic, "Where is the nearest restaurant?" just to see how it worked, and several restaurants were shown. Pretty cool, but like I said, I wasn't in the mood to dig into it much deeper at that time.
Fast forward to last night. I had some time on my hands and thought I would mess with this "Google Now" thing I've been reading about more and more. I add the Google Now widget to one of my pages easily enough. Then I tap it to get it started, and I see the familiar, "Search, or say Google" and I'm ready to play. "Google", I say. Nothing. I repeat it... "Google". Still nothing. I tap the microphone, and the screen changes to the Google logo in the upper left, a flashing red microphone in the upper right, and the words "Speak now" show up in the middle of the screen. Again, I do the "Where is the nearest restaurant?", just like I did before, and I wait for its response. The text from my question shows up on screen, but the mic in the upper right is still pulsing. I wait for about 30 seconds and finally tap the mic icon, thinking that will activate the question. No... it just goes back to the previous screen. I try this several times with different questions, each getting a bit more prophanity-laced as I'm losing patience. Finally I give up.
Then I see if my wife has Google Now activated on her Note 2. She doesn't, so I grab the widget and throw it on an empty screen. I tap the widget and Google Now starts. I see the "Search, or say Google", so I sternly say, "Google". It activates, I ask for the nearest restaurants, and it shows me several in the area. Why won't it work on my S3 anymore? I check the settings for voice and see Hotword detection is checked. I compare my settings to the settings on my wife's Note 2 and they're identical.

Oct 1, 2011I have a droid 3. After using it for a few days, i could not receive or send any calls or texts all of a sudden and i don't know what i did wrong. A hollow triangle icon appeared on the top right corner of the screen beside the WiFi icon. When I call, it tells me to dial *611 and reactivate the phone. But when I called *611, it still asked me to dial *611. I tried a lot of ways to make it work but it never did. Then I tried doing the factory reset. I reset it, and it said i had to make a special call to activate the phone. So i pressed the activate button, i think it is supposed to give me instructions and tell me how to reactivate it but it didn't say anything and i'm now stuck on that page i couldn't go back couldn't do anything. I tried turning it off and turning it back on and it was still at the same page.

Feb 28, 2012I have an odd problem. When I press and hold the button on my Voyager Pro HD headset, it no longer activates voice dialing. I've tried uninstalling all voice related 3rd party apps; I've deleted the data and cleared the cache on Bluetooth Share, Voice Dialing and Voice Search.
I should add that my phone is a Vivid running 2.3.4 and HTC Sense 3.0.

Nov 25, 2013I have a phone where Im trying to configure ActiveSync. It all goes "smoothly" because the account can be configured. The problem is when I try to view email on the configured account. It says that security policies have to be updated but I dont know where to go. I tried to remove and add the account again but I never see the "Activate" prompt where Im supposed to accept the security policies. Therefore, I don't see the Email app as a device administrator as I do on all the other users I have configured their accounts for.

Whenever I start a skype call there is no sound, if I start a video call there is video but there is still no sound, neither party in the call can hear anything.

Apr 15, 2012I'm looking for a way to have a sort of two way calling system between only my Android Phone and my mac.
So for instance - if I wanted to, I could wake up my mac remotely using my phone, and start having a conversation with anyone who happened to be near my computer as if I had called a phone number. I could activate video streaming from my phone to my computer or from my computer to my phone if I wanted to, all controlled by my phone to my computer or vice versa
So it's sort of like skype, but only between my phone and the computer, and I can activate it even when my laptop is closed using ssh wake on demand or whatever.
