General :: Change Phone Keypad
Feb 22, 2014I'm new to smartphones. I hate the keypad on the calling app. Running 4.3 on xperia z1 compact. Just can't hit the right numbers. I notice that the numeric keypad in a number of apps is a lot more usable, Because there's physical separation between the numbers. I've tried searching around the subject, but just get info on text keypads, not calling keypads. Can I configure my calling app keypad?

Currently, the stock application is launched, and since this application is short to worthless, I want the Gmail client to open instead of it so that I don't need to add a short cut to it and at the same time end up with a static button that I will never use.

Jul 27, 2010Can anyone with a Vibrant change their voicemail number in settings->call settings->voicemail->voicemail? I'd like to change it so when I speed dial 1 it goes to google voice. I called TM and they said I should be able to change that setting. I installed a new SIM, and I removed TM's visual voice mail. Out of ideas here. I'd at least like to know if it's like this on all Vibrants or just some Vibrants.

Jun 15, 2009Just got an HTC Magic and must say I am really impressed with Android so far. I have one small issue, however, in regards to special characters.
I prefer the keypad with T9 as it is much faster for me than both the compact QWERTY and the full version. For some reason "�", "�" and "�" seems to be hidden away in contrast to ordinary phones. Usually, the 2-button ("a", "b", "c") holds "�" and "�" (written "ae" and "aa") and the 6-button ("m", "n" and "o") has "�" (written "oe"). These vowels is quite common in Danish (and other Scandinavian languages). The compact QWERTY has the "�", "�" and "�" placed on-screen, which makes me wonder why these characters is so difficult to type for the other keyboard types. If these characters were added to the keypad buttons (like any non-Android keypad-based device), it would be quite easy to write (and of course these extra characters would only show up when using a language where they apply).
Where do you suggest such a change? Is it already pluggable or configurable?

Oct 9, 2010Okay so here is another strange thing I noticed with the update.2 of the 3 phones that got the update now have a little home icon on the bottom of one of the touchwiz screens when you are in the edit mode. This page with the home icon can now be moved to whereever you want it in the positioning of the 1-7 screens you have and when you click on the "home" key at the very bottom it will go to that screen. Previously there was no home key and your home screen was either the middle or far left screen depending on the number of screens you had.

ICS is set to boot into 720p and so I would have all the time after booting to revert through the setting applet to 576p.
