General :: HTC Desire HD Unroot Process - Phone Unable To Start
Nov 3, 2012
i tried to unroot my htc desire hd via htcdev.com's unlock bootloader process...it was successfull..
gradual steps/mistakes...
1. installed clockworkmod from playstore
2. tried to access superuser...but there was some issue with that..
3. when i restarted my phone using vol- key and power button i entered into hboot mode, from where i enter clockworkmod...
4. full wiped the phone, cache and everything that was given in instruction of icecold sandwich..
5. icecold sandwich was there in sd card as zip file....so i chose the "install zip from memory card option"..
6. then there is message of installation completed..
but my phone is unable to start.... there is htc logo and no further process..

Had a wi-fi problem on my htc desire for a while now..
One time I went to turn wi-fi on and it just said "Unable to start wi-fi". It had worked totally fine up until that point.
I've tried doing a factory reset, rooted, updated rom but it's still not working.
When the problem happened I had not rooted the phone or changed anything really.. it just happened.
In logcat it says:
CODE:..................

I'm pretty new when it comes to rooting and whatnot, but I gave it a shot. It worked well. I currently have Cyanogen 5.0.5 on my phone and I love it! I heard that the OTA 2.1 is finally out, and I wanted to unroot and try it to compare against my ROM. I have read of ways to do this, but I think my situation is a little more unique. I attempted to revert back to stock via ROM Manager. I must have done the wrong thing, so I ended up just reinstalling the update.zip file from my SD Card. I resigned into Google and it was just like the first time I rooted. I re-downloaded ROM Manager and when I try to "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery", I get the error message: "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands." The "reboot into recovery" also does not work. I can still hold "X" and power on, but I just get the clockwork recovery menu, and end up nowhere but back to Cyanogen. I love Cyan and will probably stick with it, but nothing as far as root apps work anymore. DM also doesn't work for me anymore. When I enter recovery mode, it gives me the option to boot from update.zip, or factory reset. Would factory reset mess everything up? Any help/ideas?

As an exercise I attempted to add an AppWidgetProvider-derived class to one of our existing Android applications. When the widget is created and appears on the home screen, the output from adb logcat notes: W/ActivityManager(58): Unable to launch app com.mycompany.myapp/ 10042 for broadcast Intent { action=android.appwidget.action.APPWIDGET_ENABLED comp= {com.mycompany.myapp/com.mycompany.myapp.MyAppWidgetProvider} }: process is bad
This output comes from around line 10814 in ActivityManagerService (looking at cupcake on git). This is running on an ADP 1.5, FWIW. The same AppWidget code, once separated from the main application's project and put into its own simple project, runs as expected, so I know my manifest entries/XML/Java are all as they should be. Has anyone else run into this, or perhaps can the Android team comment on what aspect of my application might be preventing the AM from starting up the process when the widget is added to the home screen?

(HTC Desire running 2.2) Sometimes the init process enters a busy loop, consuming all CPU time. This has happened to me three or four times now. When it happens, Android System Info shows 100% CPU usage and if you run top in a terminal emulator, you can see that it's the init process eating up the CPU.
This makes the phone real slow and the only cure I know of is a reboot.I was going to check out the logs while the init was looping, but I forgot. I don't know how to repeat this - today it happened when I exitted VLC Stream and Convert, but it happened before I even installed this application.
I think this happened before the 2.2 upgrade as well and my son said his Xperia X10 eats the battery real fast sometimes - so maybe the same problem exists in Android 1.6 already.

So, I decided to give Tridents ROM a try about 10-minutes ago.
I used ROM Manager, backed-up my old ROM, then downloaded Velocity 0.2.
Now, my phone will do nothing, it turns on and shows the red Droid eye, then when it's time to go to the home screen I get pop-up after pop-up saying that "The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."
I have no way of getting on my phone at all, what can I do?

1) Is it possible to unroot my phone via SuperOneClick even though im on Siyah v3.3.2 or do i just have to use my original kernel?
2) Corresponding to my first question what will happen to my phone if i flash my original kernel while still being on my custom rom. Do i have to download stock ICS 4.0.3 to go back to the original version?

Well right now I have a rooted droid thanks to sholesmod and am running bugless beast 0.7.6 at 800. From what I Have read, it is supposed to be one of the fastest ROMs out there. Too be honest, I have almost noticed it to be slower then .7.5. So I have decided to completely erase everything and start completely from scratch. I was going to go back to stock 2.01 and then do a factory restore. Then I was going to reformat my sd card. Would that be the best route to go if I wanted to start from scratch?

I hope this is the right place to post this.I am using an HTC Desire running Android 2.2 from the Telus OTA update.I wanted to see the OS without the Sense UI so I went through Settings/Applications/Manage Applications select 'All' selected HTC Sense and hit the 'Clear defaults' button, it did nothing when I went back to the home screen, so I went back and 'hit 'Force stop' the phone restarted but was still using the Sense UI so I shut it down and tried to restart it immediately after the screen went black. The phone then vibrated 4 times in a row and did nothing. After that the phone would not start. The only thing I could do was remove the battery for a few seconds put it back in then start the phone up. Now I find the phone has an issue where if I don't give it a few seconds after shutting down it will do the 4 vibrates and then do nothing. The 'Clear defaults' option in the Sense UI is now always blocked out so I can not select it.Has this happened to anyone else? Is the vibrating then becoming a paper weight an issue due to the Sense UI issue or is that normal because I may not be giving it enough time to shut down or something?

I'm just concerned about the possibility of bricking my Droid III. Even if the instructions are clear enough, there's a chance of running into something unclear in the midst of the process.
I've read about the One-click root, but I don't know if that's as easy as it gets (as of today) and whether it's an undoable hack.

I was running stock 2.1 on my Droid and I recently rooted it using the instructions here: How-To Root your stock 2.1 Droid. It went off without a hitch. Then, I went to Froyo 2.2, as found here: Download: Newer Motorola Droid Froyo Leak FRF57 | Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog.
After switching to Froyo, it appeared that I was having some issues with my root. I still had the superuser ninja, and I could still use Terminal Emulator. When I opened upTitanium Backup though, it asked me to allow permission which I did, and then it told me that I was not rooted (Setup behaved similarly). So I went and applied the update patch available on the Droid-Life page where I got Froyo and it appeared to work. To my knowledge I AM rooted. I have a custom boot animation and Titanium and Setcpu are working fine. Titanium says my root access is ok and that I am using busybox 1.15.3 from app. All is well, EXCEPT that when I try to use the cp command via terminal emulator I cannot. I recently tried to add a custom boot animation using the following:
su
mount -o rw,remount -t yaffs2 /Dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
cp /sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
exit
After the first line of code I got:usage: mount [-r] [-w] [-o options] [-type] device directory
After the second line however I got the error cp not found. HOWEVER, I was able to apply the boot animation using root explorer. Also, i tested the command busybox and got busybox not found. I can still utilize cd /system app though.
Basically I need to know if I am only partially rooted. I am having a ball with this phone and I would hate to be unable to do some future root process because of a glitch now.

I have started to port Android on TCC89XX board, I download Android SDK. and applied the patch with kernel 2.6.29, the Processor is having armv6 instruction set. I am not able to see the network up ifconfig is not able to show the network devices.
Also I do not get why there is no "on" binary in the system/bin, system/xbin, the init.rc and init.goldfish.rc. I cannot get the zygote process up. create_socket throws error. If any one knows about this, please tell what I need to do correctly or point me to some correct URL's.

History:
I recently rooted my phone and flashed the DJdroid V1.2 ROM. I was very happy with it but found the 720p choppy. I assumed it was the ROM and that the stock froyo ROM would be flawless so unrooted and updated to the OTA ROM. I've since found its cacka on that too and want to unroot again. Why? Because I hate all the adware that flashes everywhere on my phone now its "stock". The DJDroid ROM maker has removed all that crap "Thanks to the maker". So my question is, before I blindly head back to DJDroid V1.2, are there any other ROMs that I should consider? The main thing for me is that it looks very similar to the stock ROM and has sense as I am comfortable with this arrangement.

I've been looking through this forum for a while now as i wanted to find a way of getting rid of the bloatware on my Orange Desire.I decided to try "Rooting" and used the Unrevoked 3.1 method which seemd to work as i have a new "app" called "Superuser".However, i have now developed cold feet as i don't understand what a nandroid backup is and i can't find a definitive answer on whether i need to:
A) Unlock the phone first cos it's Orange?
B) Create a 'Goldcard'?
C) Simply flash a custom ROM like the stock Froyo 2.2 or something from MoCado?
D) or leave well alone cos it's way too risky of becoming an Orange brick.
Therefore I'd like to know if i can return the phone to it's original pre rooted state? Is there a way that was as simple as rooting it using Unrevoked?

Well I've finally had a problem crop up that I can't solve in my XTR 2.1.1: This morning upon booting up my phone, a force close applet appeared just after the lock screen, "com.google.process.gapps can't start.. blah" and the force close button. Everything seems to work fine, gmail, calendar etc. Just that annoying error message only when I reboot. A search here found that same issue in many different devices, including the Droid, but with no solutions offered other than a reflash. I'd like to know what caused it all of a sudden; this has been a very stable ROM. I know that all I have to do to make the issue go away is flash my recovery image, but I don't want to do that before finding a solution to this for future reference.

My service is not in the same package namespace as my application / activities.
I have
CODE:...........
The issue is that my service is in -- package com.myco.service.myservice and my activity is in -- package com.myco.test.myactivity
My questions are:
1. does my service *have* to be in the com.myco.test namespace?
2. if it doesn't, how do I specify the android:name for my activity and my service to work?

I recently flashed to the Fresh 2.1.2 rom, and i'm having trouble using the "Wireless Tether". I've uninstalled the one that came with the rom, and i've installed a fresh new copy from the Marketplace. But every time I've tried hitting the "tether" button, it says "Unable to start tethering, please try again!"
My superuser app isn't doing anything, this might be the problem. Whenever I open the superuser app, it's a complete blank screen.
