General :: Group Messaging With HTC Phones
Jan 29, 2013I have been running 4.2 on my Galaxy Nexus since the day it became available. With the new group messaging feature that was included I noticed that when conversating with friends who have HTC phones (Rezound and more recently DNA) their messages would come over separate. But iPhones, samgung, etc... would work just fine.
I thought maybe it was just a small bug with the phone but after flashing CM10.1 on my Note 2 I have the exact same problem.

Sep 10, 2012Second, is it possible to ad 'GROUP CHAT' in the stock messaging app? Go SMS allows this currently but it's a very slow app. Stock messaging app works great, so it would be great if it could become a possibility.
FYI: My current phone is Evo LTE.

Sep 12, 2010I have the contacts set up in my starred groups already but can't figure out how to text the contacts in a specific group (e.g. Family, CoWorkers, Friends) from my stock messenger. I can do it using the handcent app and although I have the notification setting off on the stock messenger the message still makes its way to the stock messenger and handcent which I believe would take up twice as much memory on my phone causing it to lagg. if I am wrong in assuming this and what I can do to fix this whether it be the correct way in sending a message to a group or deleting the stock messaging app, etc...

Feb 22, 2010Whats the scoop behind which one is really better? The stock messaging app or aftermarket apps (handcent and chomp). I use Handcent, and lately I have been finding it to be quite laggy and slow, even with cache cleared and all threads deleted. Is the only difference between stock and aftermarket, the fact that you can customize? I would much rather have a plain looking stock app that performs well, then a customizable aftermarket app that is slow. I am just looking for some opinions.

Jan 28, 2014I'm on T-Mobile with Sony Xperia Z1S, and my all other friends are all with AT&T and iPhone.
Whenever I'm included in their group text (or I sent out group text including them), I never get much of luck working.
I will more likely get bunch of individual MMS text from all 5 friends (iPhone) with "touch to download" but the text itself nowhere to found, and even i touch the "touch to download" mms, it doesn't download anything.
I forgot to mention, i use "hangout" as my main SMS and message app.
I have asked same question on G+ and one person replied and said he has no problem with group text with other iPhone user, and suggested me to have group message on hangout setting, and turn off Wi-Fi calling. I tried and still doesn't work.

Dec 18, 2012I've done a ton of searching and still haven't been able to find a solution that works for me. I am on Virgin Mobile and have an Optimus V. Most of my friends have iPhones and when they send a group text message it shows up as a blank message for me. I downloaded Go SMS Pro and it still doesn't work in there. I don't want any app that would give me a new number. BTW, I receive group texts from those of my friends that have Windows phones just fine.

Jun 5, 2012Just to start off, I have a Droid 3, flashed to metro. I didn't flash it myself, so I don't have very extensive knowledge, but it is rooted.
1) My biggest problem: I can't receive or send group messages. I tried both handcent and go sms pro. In GO sms Pro, I've checked Send Settings > MMS Group Chat. I can send and receive MMS, but when I send it to multiple people, they all receive individual texts rather than a group text. Long story short I'm trying to message a group of people with iPhones. How can I do this or what exact settings do I need? I've looked at other threads, but to no avail.
2) 3G isn't working. It worked when I initially got it, and when I called the place that flashed my phone, they said that Metro sent out some file that blocks the 3G access.

Jun 26, 2013I installed AOKP custom rom on my Samsung Galaxy nexus yesterday and everything works fine so far except 2 things:
1) I can not receive or send group text messages from the android messaging app. I know I can use other apps like whatapp, etc to do this...but I want to use regular messaging app that sends it as message over verizon cell network.
2) My battery was down to 30% and I took it out and put it back in....and the battery indicator shows it at 100%. Thats obviously not right.

Feb 16, 2013So I got the Galaxy Note 2 in December and I have been loving it but the only thing I miss is the iMessage group chat. So in the messaging app I can start a group chat but when I get texts back it just comes into that friend's name chat, not the group chat I started. But my main concern is that I am part of a group chat with my friends but it doesn't put those in a folder when they are sent to me. It just comes up as an MMS. I have tried GOSMSPro but maybe I am dumb and group chatting might not be possible to get all the messages in the same folder?

They are all in a group chat together and the problem is, when my girlfriend receives messages as part of the group chat, she has to actually download them as if they were picture messages. That obviously uses up a lot of data and it gets very frustrating after a while. So how can she get her phone to receive messages normally just like every other recipient in the group chat does, so that she doesn't have to download all of them which not only is very tedious, but highly data-consuming.

My issue that my two friends that have galaxy s4's whenever they respond to a group message their messages come to me as individual threads, but other peoples goes to the group text.
I have a moto x (but it was doing the same thing on my gnexus). Other friends all of their messages go to the group (iphone, moto x, htc one).
Both S4 users came from iphones.

I have tried both the stock messaging app and SMS go, and both fail miserably when receiving and sending texts that are in a group thread, I receive them all separately and send them all separately. Dec 28, 2013So I recently switched from an iphone 4s to a Droid Maxx. Soon after switching over I learned that I was not receiving any texts messages from iphone users. After calling apple and removing my imessage certificate I started receiving INDIVIDUAL text messages from iphone users; however, when I am in a group message with other iphone users it continues to try and send messages to me as imessages. My friends have tried deleting my contact info on their phone along with all text message threads with me in it, but nothing has worked so far.

Every recipient sees who's included the thread and they "Reply all" to each message. It also looks like Blackberry's can handle this group messaging feature. But my Android phone can't. The default messaging app, Google Voice, and Handcent all split up each group text into individual threads, which makes it really difficult to manage the conversation. These apps also think that the group texts are MMS messages, which is doubly annoying.

May 23, 2013I have a group that I text to, a sports team, but two of my contacts in the group don't get my messages. They bounce back to me because they are sending to their land phones! Obviously there are multiple phone numbers for these contacts, and the first time this happened I went into the contacts to set the mobile number as default - but that makes no difference. Google Android still tries to send them to the landlines! My phone uses ICS.
