General :: Group Chat Messages Deleting?
Oct 17, 2013I was in a group chat with 6 people today. It was a lengthy chat. I just went to look back through it and earlier messages are gone (CM10.1).

View 2 RepliesI need a chat program that supports XMPP and Jabber, plus it needs to support 'group chat', that seems to be the kicker. When I was on WM platform the only one I found was Octrotalk, but they only support WM.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSecond, is it possible to ad 'GROUP CHAT' in the stock messaging app? Go SMS allows this currently but it's a very slow app. Stock messaging app works great, so it would be great if it could become a possibility.
FYI: My current phone is Evo LTE.
So I got the Galaxy Note 2 in December and I have been loving it but the only thing I miss is the iMessage group chat. So in the messaging app I can start a group chat but when I get texts back it just comes into that friend's name chat, not the group chat I started. But my main concern is that I am part of a group chat with my friends but it doesn't put those in a folder when they are sent to me. It just comes up as an MMS. I have tried GOSMSPro but maybe I am dumb and group chatting might not be possible to get all the messages in the same folder?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a mod/tweak out there that would let me put group chat on the default messaging app. I know about go sms and handscent sms, but each has its own problem. I have a Verizon GS3 and was hoping there was a way to do this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAre there any IM apps that allow group conversations (for msn specifically) where you can have more than one person in a conversation?
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust to start off, I have a Droid 3, flashed to metro. I didn't flash it myself, so I don't have very extensive knowledge, but it is rooted.
1) My biggest problem: I can't receive or send group messages. I tried both handcent and go sms pro. In GO sms Pro, I've checked Send Settings > MMS Group Chat. I can send and receive MMS, but when I send it to multiple people, they all receive individual texts rather than a group text. Long story short I'm trying to message a group of people with iPhones. How can I do this or what exact settings do I need? I've looked at other threads, but to no avail.
2) 3G isn't working. It worked when I initially got it, and when I called the place that flashed my phone, they said that Metro sent out some file that blocks the 3G access.
Everyone I know seems to have an iPhone, and they have the ability to send and receive group SMS messages in a single thread. Every recipient sees who's included the thread and they "Reply all" to each message. It also looks like Blackberry's can handle this group messaging feature. But my Android phone can't. (Nexus S 4G - 2.3.7)
The default messaging app, Google Voice, and Handcent all split up each group text into individual threads, which makes it really difficult to manage the conversation. These apps also think that the group texts are MMS messages, which is doubly annoying.
how to keep these group texts in one thread?
My family sends out a plethora of group messages each morning that goes well beyond the "have a good morning". Just this morning I received 15 texts in 30 minutes from five of them. One will start the conversation as a group message and the others jump on the bandwagon. Is there a way I can "block" from receiving group messages? I want to still receive individual texts from them - I just never want to receive a group text. Asking them to not include me in the group has not seemed to work. Just hoping my phone has an option to block.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIf I have a text open and press menu and try to delete it does nothing. I have to go to the inbox view of all messages and long press a conversation and select delete and it works. I noticed this started happening after I updated to 4.1.1 jellybean on my HTC One S
View 1 Replies View RelatedYes, unfortunately I have friends with iPhones. With iOS4, they can basically do a group text chat that has all the users receiving the messages from everyone in one location and all messages are saved. This is basically like a chat group using text messages. My question is whether android has any apps that can allow us to "join" these chats. I asked my friend to add me as a user to the chat but all that accomplishes is letting me get individual messages from each member of the chat. If I wanted to reply to the group, I would have to reply to each one individually.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have set the stock messaging app to keep 75 text messages for each user. For some reason, once that 75 message point is exceeded, it only deletes the incoming messages. My replies are kept, and the total number goes above 75 indefinitely until I delete the long tail of my replies at the top of the thread. First, would I be correct in assuming that this is not normal behavior? Second, if that's correct, how do I fix this?
If it matters, I'm using an HTC Evo 3D with a rooted version of the stock ROM. The same problem happened before rooting. I don't believe this is a maker- or device-specific problem, but I'm happy to repost in the Evo 3D subforum if it is.
So I was using my the handcent sms app on my Droid today and all a sudden the person i was sending messages to was receiving the messages 3 times. Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Then I try using the stock messaging app and obviously all my threads are deleted but messages send twice, any suggestions?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI know the stock messaging app has the option to delete messages over a limit, but the limit itself was set after the fact. So my limit is around 500 but I got some threads over 500 already (from before), any easy way to get rid of them?

When I send a group text message on my Desire some of the recipients are getting sent the message via email. Why is this & how can i stop it?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have always been a Palm girl, and decided to move onto the HTC Hero.I downloaded handcent, and I am sort of confused on how it or the default text messaging works. Why is it when I send a text, and receive a text from someone else, they all wind up in the same chat.Do all incoming texts wind up in one chat style window?I know on Palm each text had its own window sort to speak. If I replied, then it became a "chat".My incoming from different people wind up in one window so I am reading different peoples replies in all one paragraph like chat.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I send group SMS messages, how can I know which number receives the message. If the contact has more than 1 number (which is generally true) to which number is the SMS sent to? As there's no primary setting for sending messages.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm starting to get into networking on android and I was wondering what the requirements are to setup a simple messaging application. Do I need to host a central server somewhere to have two people connect to in order to receive messages? Are there any examples on how to go about doing this?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIve been reading this forum for several months, and bought my Eris last month (previous Blackberry Storm owner). With my Blackberry, I was used to having Blackberry Messenger service that allowed me to message other BB owners, without using my SMS/MMS count with Verizion. Without that, I have set up Google Talk as an alternative.
Pardon me asking something here that everyone else proabably already knows, but does the Google Talk messages get counted as SMS/MMS messages by Verizon ? I do not use it except to message one of my friends from time to time, so I am fairly ignorant about the various types of 'chat' messaging systems out there.
Thanks for your help, and I am enjoying everything that this Eris can do so far. I was a bit leery at making the switch, but I can see Android systems are a good way to go.
Got yahoo working on my hero by putting android before imap.Only thing is there is no option to leave messages on the server. Done a test and if I delete from the phone it goes from the server too. Dont want hundreds of emails building up for eternity on the handset.. Hotmail works fine, deletes from handset only as options allow.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a thread of texts to one person that has reached almost 1500 messages. Every time I go to try and delete the thread, my messages freeze and I have to force close and restart my phone. Anyone know of a way to delete messages another way? & I recently set my phone to delete after 200 texts. Would this maybe be causing the freezing does anyone think?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had my phone for 8 hours, and I'm already confused. So, I thought if I deleted a message off of my phone, it would erase on my G mail account too. But, this doesn't happen! How do I fix that?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been enjoying my phone so far but now its running kinda slow in the message department, so I figured I'd clear out all my messages, all 3000+ plus. Android just doesn't want to delete them, I've heard that it can take 5+ minutes to delete message threads 500+, I'm screwed because one of my threads has over 2000! This phone should be storing older txt messages to the sdcard anyway, not sure why it wouldn't. Basically this thread was made to complain how crappy clearing out messages was.
View 49 Replies View RelatedSome of my threads have over 600 texts in them, and are taking forever to load up. Is there a way/app to archive these and then delete them as they go?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThis may be old news to some but thought I'd throw this out: With TXT messages showing, click Options button
- Select Multiple
-Options button
-Select all
There you go. And remember, once you have deleted them, they are STILL in your memory and retrievable.
See one of my other posts about how to permanently delete them.
