Dec 19, 2009Are there any IM apps that allow group conversations (for msn specifically) where you can have more than one person in a conversation?

View 3 RepliesI need a chat program that supports XMPP and Jabber, plus it needs to support 'group chat', that seems to be the kicker. When I was on WM platform the only one I found was Octrotalk, but they only support WM.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYes, unfortunately I have friends with iPhones. With iOS4, they can basically do a group text chat that has all the users receiving the messages from everyone in one location and all messages are saved. This is basically like a chat group using text messages. My question is whether android has any apps that can allow us to "join" these chats. I asked my friend to add me as a user to the chat but all that accomplishes is letting me get individual messages from each member of the chat. If I wanted to reply to the group, I would have to reply to each one individually.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSecond, is it possible to ad 'GROUP CHAT' in the stock messaging app? Go SMS allows this currently but it's a very slow app. Stock messaging app works great, so it would be great if it could become a possibility.
FYI: My current phone is Evo LTE.
So I got the Galaxy Note 2 in December and I have been loving it but the only thing I miss is the iMessage group chat. So in the messaging app I can start a group chat but when I get texts back it just comes into that friend's name chat, not the group chat I started. But my main concern is that I am part of a group chat with my friends but it doesn't put those in a folder when they are sent to me. It just comes up as an MMS. I have tried GOSMSPro but maybe I am dumb and group chatting might not be possible to get all the messages in the same folder?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there was a mod/tweak out there that would let me put group chat on the default messaging app. I know about go sms and handscent sms, but each has its own problem. I have a Verizon GS3 and was hoping there was a way to do this.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was in a group chat with 6 people today. It was a lengthy chat. I just went to look back through it and earlier messages are gone (CM10.1).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI originally started out using Meebo for AIM, Yahoo and Facebook chats. It worked well, but then it started dropping all the time. So I looked around and found eBuddy, which I LOVE. Never seems to drop. However, in the last few days, I cannot get into Facebook chat. No problems with AIM or Yahoo, but I cannot connect to Facebook chat. I tried a few other apps, like Bloo and Go Talk, with the same problem with Facebook.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI use the Motorola Backflip, and have been looking around for a suitable video chat app. What I'd like to do is be able to do is hold a video chat session with someone who only has access to the HTC Touch Pro 2, and a webcam enabled laptop.
I've tried Qik, but that doesn't seem to work properly on my phone. What happens is I can start recording, but if anything interrupts it at all, I won't be able to start recording again until I restart my phone.
I am a beginner in writing Android apps and would like to be a part of the group to get a more in depth understanding.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter looking through this site and others, it seems that there are a ton of great apps that support AIM and FB (eBuddy comes to mind), but none that support those two and Skype. So, does anyone know of an app that does this?
View 5 Replies View RelatedBasically I have downloaded games, trivia, etc and would like to somehow group them into their own folder under All Apps. Is that possible or no?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a gmail and a Google Apps account. I have been able to set up the gmail account for both chat and mail. I have only been able to set the Google App up for mail. I cannot seem to get it to work in meebo or any other app. Anyone using a Google App as a secondary been able to set it up for chat/talk? If so, how or what app worked for you?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAOKP has the option to enable/disable soft keys. For each soft key I can choose an app that should open when pressed. I would like to have a soft key that opens a group of apps. Example: The first "Soft key" (with a message-icon) should open a dialog window containing sms, contacts, phone, gmail, mail and so on.
Any app with which I can create such a group shortcut? So this app has to open a group window with selectable apps when started.
I'm developing a chat application that interacts with a chat server on a pc. I've created a login page that has a predefined username as password within it, however i wish to implement a system that checks the login name and password to a database. The coding for the login page is:
Quote:
package com.svennevik.andriod;
import android.app.Activity;
import android.app.AlertDialog;[code].....
I would like to know whats some free ringer apps? browser apps? fb apps? music apps? and theme apps?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo for the last week me and a couple others have been looking for a group chat app. By this i mean an app that will allow us to create a group that will stay open whether we are logged in or not and also one that does not require members to be invited, rather one that can be named and then have people search for it. We are not looking for an IM like MSN that allows you to temporarily add your friends to a group chat but instead acts more like a private chat room? Theres an app that we are using just now called Cnected but its really really basic, just that bit too basic, cant even see who is involved in the chat.Basically an app like this but with a list of people in the chat and a pm option. Preferably one that logs the chat even if your not signed in would be good but not essential.Also needs to be free. Ive looked at jabber clients and IRC but the group of people are not computer savvy enough to set them up correctly.I just cant believe that out of all the chat apps there are out there, even the big ones like msn yahoo and AIM, not a single one allows you to create a permanent group thats always open and can be searched for.

View 2 Replies View RelatedJust wondering if anyone else has come across this, my friend rang me the other day and asked why i was always logged in to fb chat 24 hours a day, dont be silly i said im not, he said you are now!!
I was using nimbuzz and have found out that if i have fb chat set to offline when i go in to nimbuzz it turns it on (as it should) but when i log out it keeps me showing as online on the main facebook website!!
The only way i can get it to stop doing this is to log out of nimbuzz and then log in to the main fb site and set chat to offline (a real pain!)
Does anyone use an app that lets you log out and keeps you logged out?
i have also tried palringo and Go!chat and they all do the same!
I dont want people chatting to me and thinking im ignoring them!

View 6 Replies View RelatedHTC Hero here. Being the lazypuss I am I haven't tried to use a lot of outside apps yet but I wanted to use instant messenger so I launched the onboard app, IM (version 7).
Can't say I am happy with my experience of this piece of crap at all. It doesn't support multiple aim logins or Facebook... but I could live with that. What ticked me off is when I signed in and then signed out - it stayed signed in. I was out of town for the weekend! This means somewhere something was getting my messages for two days and nights even though I "signed out." I don't know who tried to contact me and I don't like that it doesn't do what you tell it to do. It also has the nerve to actually magically launch itself now that I've used it once.
If I root my phone - this will be one of the reasons why... So I can delete this sketchy crapware off my phone and out of my life forever. I looked in the manage apps and can't see who makes this thing either but I loath it very very much.
I have successfully installed the Openfire XMPP server and built an Android app to text chat,how can I implement VOIP functionality to my application?Can this be done by connecting openfire with a SIP server?Can someone guide me?
View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay, so this is my first post here...just got a Sprint HTC Hero yesterday and I love it. Came from a Blackberry Curve 8530 and I'm definitely happier, with one exception; I can't figure out how to chat with my Blackberry Messenger contacts. Now, I've been looking for an app that will chat with IMs (INCLUDING BBM) but have had no such luck. The thing is I was using BBM and a friend who had a Droid was IMing me on my BBM. Clearly there is a way to IM people using BBM from an Android messaging app, but I can't figure out what app she was using! She's really vague about it now that I have a Hero, she says "Umm the guy at Verizon set it up for me and I can't remember what it's called, unitext or unimessage or something. The icon is a fiery smiley face." Does this ring any bells for anyone here?
