So I downloaded the Google Keyboard 2.0 from AndroidPolice [URL] ..... and noticed a problem:
When I'm typing, and I mistype, instead of correcting to the most likely word like it did in the old blue version, now it autocorrects to whatever I mistyped but in all CAPS. So, if I'm typing "that" and instead I type "thay" it will autocorrect to "THAY." This is extremely obnoxious.

I'm writing a Greek IME, which also needs to translate hardware keypresses. I'm doing this by intercepting onKeyDown() in InputMethodService.
Is there some way to find out what the caps state is (as indicated by the plain/triangle/caret cursor in the UI for lowercase/single-caps/ all-caps, respectively), so I can accordingly output upper or lower case characters? I checked the PinyinIME code in GIT and it tries to track the hardware keyboard shift state by monitoring KEYCODE_SHIFT_LEFT and KEYCODE_SHIFT_RIGHT keypresses -- and it can get out of sync with the true state indicated by the cursor, which can be confusing.
So, the question is: 1. Do I also have to track hardware shift key-down events and duplicate the caps state logic, or is there a way to query the input connection what that state is? 2. If there is no way to query the caps state, then is there a way to reset it to lowercase (since I need to know what the initial caps state is when the IME starts).
I really like better keyboard pro except for one thing: when i type the phrase/word "lol" it always suggests "LOL" (all caps) and auto types it when i press space (auto-correct feature) the only problem is i almost never capitalize this word, any way to get it to stop doing this without disabling auto-correct?

I have to upper case the letters then type "I", then switch to the symbols and type ', then back to the letters to type "ll". This just seems way to much for a little word. My BB Tour would recognize so much easier. If there is no easy way to type it, wonder if Froyo will fix it.

When in Android Keyboard input, if you type in a word that is not in the dictionary, is there a way to save it so that it comes up again in the future and you don't have to type the whole word out each time you use it? It appears that this is the case in swype (which I do not care for) but after a lot of trial and error, I cannot seem to locate a place where you can do this.

I guess there should be two options: autocorrect spelling mistakes I make and another option for autocompleting words I am trying to type. Too often I find that Swiftkey's "predicted" word option based on what I type is so far off that I end up sending a nonsensical message to people.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am an android user, using sony xperia z with 4.3. I have problem about the google voice (GV for now) and keyboard, im not the same as everybody with missing GVT or wanting to disable it, i actually like it a lot, especially because it support my language (not english).
using voice input is easy:
1. i press the GV icon
2. i talk
3. text coming out, there will be miss typed/heard sentences
4. you know, if the system doubt your speech and want to correct it, you just tap the word with grey underline,it indicating that it have multiple option
5. then you choose the correct sentences
My step number 4 is a problem, because the correction that pop up to correcting/delete sentences is being blocked by keyboard, that is why i say it also a keyboard problem. so i cannot choose anything from it. and i have this problem since 4.2.2, the first day i upgraded it to 4.3 is okay, but suddenly it happen again. i don't think i will resetting or formatting because i have a lot of app and chat history that i cannot delete.

At first my Hero was lagging a bit on turning caps off when texting so my first two letters would always be caps. but now i have to manually turn it off every time or the whole message will be in caps. it NEVER turns off automatically.I'm using the phone keypad setting BTW. when i turn it sideways the keypad doesn't have capitalization problems but sometimes it doesn't show what I'm typing and i have to get outta the keyboard to see it. besides those two problems my phone is fine. i can accept the not being able to see the message as I'm typing as lagging but the auto-caps has to be a setting right?

I've Been having this annoying problem after updating to Dj05 clean rom v.3 (and v.6. ) Every time I start a word(seems to only happen in the browser, market). It sometimes misses the first letter and always capitalize the first 2 letters typed. Its more of an annoyance. but I was wondering, if there was any way to obtain a backup of swype, I see that there are all these modded swype themes out there, there must be a way to convert back to stock.

It does not have the "personal dictionary" option under "language and input" that I am used to. I took it to Best Buy and three separate techs there played with it and they could not figure it out either.

where my phone wont scroll accuratly. Ill go back to try to fix an issue say 3 lines up from where I am and it wont scroll to the correct place I tried to place it. also if you get the cursor where you want it to fix a mistake getting it to go back where you were typing before trying to fix the mistake is a headache. Itll recenter the screen once yoy try to click back to where you were typing so you cannot see where or what your typing. I currently havr the nexus s but my evo4g did it to. The nexus is worse though. Sometimes its fine but uaually it isnt.
