I wonder if it's possible to open keyboard automatically after I swipe up on home button to launch Google Now. Now I need to click on input field on the top of screen to show keyboard and start typing.

How to show the soft input keyboard while a activity opens. In Normal case a keyboard pops up when we tap inside the edit text but i want to open it automatically when that screen loads.

I'm showing an input box using AlertDialog. The EditText inside the dialog itself is automatically focused when I call AlertDialog.show(), but the soft keyboard is not automatically shown. How do I make the soft keyboard automatically show when the dialog is shown? (and there is no physical/hardware keyboard). Similar to how when I press the Search button to invoke the global search, the soft keyboard is automatically shown.

The phone works fine,but the app store pre-installed in in chinese...so I installed googlplay, it installed fine, but when I click on it It does not open. Although I can install many of the application via 'apk installer' but its really hard to find to apps on 4shared and some local apps are only available on GooglePlay.
I am afraid to brick it incase I installed wrong image or rooted it incorrectly. I have rooted/jailbroken android, iphones, ipads in the past, but this time I m bit worried this time.I found another website 4pda.ru/forum/ index.php? showtopic= 400088 and found to be useful to some extent, but the image and contents are in russian, so not much of use either.

I'm disabling the "Show last search" in settings -> privacy from google now, but after a while the last searches reappear.

Like,If i try to open MX player,It says "Unfortunately MX Player has stopped".I tried uninstalling it and installed it again.No use.Still it shows the same problem. This has happened for a while and I simply shrugged it off as a bug, since it fixed itself eventually, but today it got much much worse and it has not worked in a couple hours.

It seems to happen more when I "flip" it open instead of gently sliding it but its also done it when sliding gently. Im trying to figure out if its hardware or some software. I have my android:screenOrientation="portait" on but when a physical keyboard is opened it doesn't rotate the screen as I wanted, but it restarts the app. It seems to run onCreate over again or something. I just want to make sure my photos will be private and no one else will be able to view them. Just wondering if it's possible to have events created automatically, in Google calendar, for birthdays taken from from my contacts. I have synced all my Facebook contacts' birthdays with my Google contacts using Uber Facebook sync (or some other totally rad hipster name) - although they are not visible anywhere (is this even possible?).
Any easily maintainable way to receive birthday reminders? I don't want to manually create events annually.
I've noticed that some users have not found my app's preferences sub menu, so I want to show that sub menu when the user first-time-ever starts the app.
Since onCreateOptionsMenu() would not have been called yet, how can I programmatically show such a sub menu?
BTW: openOptionsMenu() is not what I want because I want to open a sub menu. I suppose its part of the solution though. However, I get an exception when I call it:

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy mom has an HTC Inspire. She uses the stock HTC calendar to access her Calendar, but her google calendar isn't showing up. I have double checked my accounts and Calendar is checked under the sync settings. However, when I go into the HTC calendar, the only calendar available is the PC Sync calendar. When I go into settings, and Calendars, the Google Calendar doesn't show up there either. I have added another google account to the fun just to check and it syncs the account normally.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been having issues for about 6 months with my google+ photos not showing in my gallery on my GS3 (d2att) (SGH-I747). Typically, they will show up once you have logged into your respective Gmail account and selected sync photos in the settings. This was the case for me a while back, then they just went away.
I have tried CyanogenMod Nightlies, Stable builds, Paranoid Android, JellyBam versions 8.0 - 9.2 (The Albums showed up randomly in one version of JellyBam but I don't recall which one) and have had no success with any of them. I always make sure that I have the correct version of GAPPS installed with them and have done everything I can think to do: Factory wipe/reset, dalvik wipe, cache wipe, formatted system, data, cache, even the internal sd card with no luck.
I ended up flashing all the way back to stock unrooted via Odin, then rooted and reflashed new versions of CM, Paranoid and Jellybam. The albums show up in the stock ROM just fine but not on any of the other ROMs I've used.
I take WAY too many pics to keep them all on my memory card and phone. I like to dump them all into G+ albums and just access them that way if I need to see them. I bought the picasa app but I'm not a fan bc it's not fluid like the gallery app. How can I get these to come back in a custom ROM? I really can't handle stock ROMs at all.
