For whatever reason every browser I try reloads tabs when I leave the browser. It's REALLY annoying - I'm stuck on edge most of the time, and finding out that my tabs suddenly reload just because I switched to twitter for a second.
I tried to pretty much disable the LMK, and it still did this...
I tried Chrome, Browser Plus, stock ICS browser, Dolphin and Opera (which does this slightly less often) Last time I had this problem was on my old tablet with only 256 MB of RAM. (Which still did this less often than the Note on ICS)
Every time this happened, I had at least 120 MB of ram free. Seriously, the note has a full gigabyte of ram, and yet this happens.
This doesn't happen to me on GB.
Is there anything I can do to make browsing normal again? Like, exclude a browser from getting killed, or something? I'm using a Galaxy Note..
I was wondering if it is possible to force the RecognizerIntent Activity (or any other Activity) to stay cached so that the launch time would be faster.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using GIO as wireless access point for my notebook, but in 90 % of cases when I am calling someone or someone is calling me it automatically switches to 2G and of course dropping internet connection.
When using it as AP its always connected to charger.
There is no option in stock rom to make it stay at 3G , there is only option to force 2G.
Was trying to uncover "secret" menu using "any cut" application but no luck with it.
I am using stock 2.3.4 Android , was trying 2.3.6 but there is no option to force 3G either.
I saw there is such menu to force 3G on SGS2 / SGN but not on GIO
How can I force Samsung Galaxy GIO to stay on 3G while talking with someone ?
is there any app or script to force keep an app in memory to not to be killed.I want to keep Micro CPU Monitor in memory always, but it gets killed all the time, having plenty of free RAM.I have tried App Settings (Xposed module) and init script but all in vain my device is HTC One (4.42)
View 1 Replies View RelatedEvery morning I listen to RadioTime on my way to work and it is constantly losing it's connection and then buffering for a while to reconnect. I can't figure out the problem because when it shuts off, all it takes to get it up and running again is to hit pause and then play. Judging from that I don't think it's an issue with where I'm at not having a 3G connection. If anyone knows a fix for this it would be much appreciated.I apologize if I didn't explain this very well, if you have any questions feel free to ask.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using NFX 2.2....I enabled, or thought I enabled, apps2sd, my internal memory is still going down. I understand that email uses memory but, my folders are empty. Also, I do not see any of my apps on my sd card, which leads me to believe they are still in the internal memory. Any help or tips would be appreciated. I also tried to enable JIT via the gscript. Maybe I am doing something wrong with gscript. I found the script and saved it, rebooted phone. Please help....

I'm not an expert on android, but i installed Estrongs task manager and the max memory i get when i kill all apps is about 20mb. i'm often running at about 10-14 at normal use. (i'm sure its much less when the force closes start)
Does anyone have any suggestions for freeing up memory? I saw some tweeks for the previous galaxo roms but those don't seem to apply to 1.6
In my application, user can click on a button and then he can select a picture from his gallery. This image is then displayed.
However, when the user performs 3 or 4 times this operation, the following exception is thrown, due to memory allocation problem code...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just flashed to jelly bean 4.1.1 on my verizon GS3. I can't get wifi to stay connected. It continuously rotates between "Authenticating", and "Saved, Secured". Eventually it gives up and just says "Disconnected".
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to gain root on a Android 4.0.4 device and was able to, but I can't seem to keep system rw long term.
I run the following command
mount -o remount,rw /system
or
adb remount (from a PC)
the mount command will then show that system is in rw mode. However, if I attempt to copy any data into /system, the first file copy fails and the system then reports read only. To make things even more odd, commands like chmod on a file in /system work just fine.
It seems to me that there is something that detects something writing to /system, and then forces the mount back to ro.
What: make Android greedier with 3g. Don't switch off of it until wifi is associated, has an ip, and can ping the internets i.e. the wifi icon is blue
What device: I have a rooted Atrix 2 with ICS leak ROM (build 67.21.125 by timmytim v1.2) on AT&T if that makes you happy. Is this relevant? Even GB does this
Why: a lot of wifi access points suck and it takes greater than zero time for the wifi icon to turn blue. During this time voice search won't work, browser won't do crap, etc because Android is greedy the wrong direction and has already routed all ip traffic through wifi which isn't ready yet
When: this is especially a problem when I'm walking across campus with less than perfect wifi coverage, or when I try to do something on the internet in my car outside right before heading to work (what did that email say?) where there's enough signal to associate but is poor enough to not get my phone access to the tubes (let me waste 30 seconds by switching off wifi to see...)
Why: because I want uninterrupted internet access and AT&T makes me pay for 2gb even when I only use 500meg
How? You tell me. I spent 15 seconds searching all 18 yottillian pages on the internet and nothing came up in the first three results on Google or here, therefore it doesn't exist. Maybe you know where I'm not looking? Maybe I can cross-compile iptables into my ROM and use/make an app for logic? Maybe I can buy 8 billion wireless access points and distribute them evenly across the globe and give people everywhere free internet like they deserve because it's 2012 not 2002?
So can't tell if this is a bug in a new update or something basically every time I don't use the Youtube app for more than 5 mins it signs me out. Then when I open it Youtube signs me in for another 5 mins. Screenshots from EVO buts its also happening on Note ii
I found out it signs me out after I end the process (like closing it in multitasking)
Things I did to try to fix this ..
Force stop Youtube and remove all user data/cache
Completly factory reset without backing up any system apps or anything to do with Google
Removed Google account, and add it again
Wipe Just Cache
Use a modified Youtube app
Im making a custom rom, but i want to change the theme to a touchwiz one . how do i make it so that when i flash it . it will show the touchwiz theme?

The goal is to be able to change small things in some apps. For example, there is an app called SnapChat which allows you to send a picture for 3 seconds and then closes the picture. In this scenario, I would like to be able to edit the .apk file to allow to stay for 4 seconds.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a six month old Epic 4G, rooted, CWM recovery,. I used Root Uninstaller to remove three of the annoying preloaded apps that I never use. Otherwise, my phone is stock. I'm still on the 2nd to last Gingerbread update, as the one that arrived in late Jan won't apply to my rooted phone. I doubt my problem is specific to the device, though, which is why I'm posting here. I have a 32GB SD connected to the phone.
The problem: I have a very irritating "warm reboot:"
1) After booting, the phone is sometimes (not always) extremely laggy. When I use a system monitor to see what is taking the CPU, it appears to be "System" that is taking all the CPU. If the phone is not obviously laggy when starting up, this problem does not occur.
2) The flash card scans always say they complete. It never reboots before these complete.
3) Although the flash scans have completed, it takes quite a while for all of my app icons to load, suggesting it is still going through the SD card.
4) Within a few minutes after booting, the screen goes black and the four soft keys light up. If the screen is already off when this happens, the screen first turns on briefly, and then goes black!
5) About five to fifteen seconds later, the GUI restarts and it starts scanning the flash.
What else I notice:
* The "uptime" reported is not reset, which tells me there was no actual "reboot."
* Once I can get it to boot without doing this, it's stable for days.
* Using the phone right after it boots seems to increase the chance of this happening, but it's hard to say.
* In the past, if I disabled WiFi and 4G and then went into airplane mode, this would greatly reduce the chance of this happening, but now my phone has been constantly warm rebooting even in airplane mode. The phone appears to be getting less stable with time.
* This does not appear to be correlated with phone temperature. The phone can be cool to the touch or warm to the touch and this will happen.
* I've tried wiping all the various caches before. Makes no difference.
Questions:
1) Is this a known issue that is not present in a 3rd party ROM?
2) Does moving a lot of apps to SD cause this? With only 1/2 GB of built-in app memory, I have no choice but to move almost everything to the SD.
3) Does having a LOT of files on the SD card cause this? I have many nandroid backups on the SD.
4) Is there a real name for this "reboot" that I can Google for? When I search for "reboot loop" or "warm reboot" I get unrelated failures. I saw one thread where someone mentioned a "sense reboot" but that seems to be an HTC thing?
5) If I clear off the SD card, or somehow signal that most directories are not to be scanned, will this make a difference?
6) How can I figure out what is going on, why the phone is restarting the UI? Does Android have a boot-up problem of being at 100% CPU for a few minutes that automatically causes a UI reset? As I said, once the phone boots without doing this warm boot, it will be stable for days.
so im running fresh 2.1 and i LOVE IT. i see official 2.1 came out. should i unroot and get the official update or just stay with fresh ?
View 24 Replies View Related1) How can I make my phone not turning on the screen when it is locked and i get an sms (via the built it messages app), but light the led light with a custom color (and of course, play a tone). I've tried "LightFlow" but it didn't work, the screen has still gone on when I got an sms.Mention that with 3rd party apps (e.g. whatsapp and wunderlist) the thing works great, the screen is black, the led is on, and the air molecules near the speaker start oscillating harmonically.
2) I know that even without any sdk manipulation, my phone still lets me move some downloaded apps to the sd. I had downloaded a 1.5 GB game and kept in mind that I use 3.5 GB of my internal storage. Luckily enough, this game is movable. I moved it to the sd card, and after the process had been done, I checked how much storage I use on my internal storage - 3.5 GB.The button changed to "Move to device storage" but it seemed that the game had not transfered at all.Mention that I tried the "adb shell pm setinstalllocation 2" thing, and it didn't fix it, so I reversed the process with the "adb shell pm setinstalllocation 0" command.
I've got a new Sony Z1 Compact (Great phone by the way!)I wanted to make use of the magnetic charging port so picked up a dock, a couple of cables and a couple of USB -> Magnetic charger adaptors. The cables works absolutely fine and charges away very happily. My dock, and my USB -> Magnetic charger adaptor however both try to put the device into Dock mode.
That in itself works OK, but the problem comes when I want the screen to stay "OFF".The phone will constantly wake itself up - about once every 90 seconds or so.The screen comes on, and then times out and goes black again. It's almost as if someone was pressing the "power" button.
As I was writing this I have been trying using the "Daydream" feature to just show a black image. This also doesn't work... every 90 seconds or so it will return to the home screen before fading back to the daydream screen.
I'd like to install an Android device (tablet, smartphone, computer or whatever) into my car.
The purpose is to listen to internet radios and to be able to switch between those radios using my toyota car player which handles bluetooth/A2DP/avrcp .The app I would use is xiialive. This device would have his own sim card and should stay in the car. I don't want to plug the device each time I enter in my car, push any button or whatever. I would just like that the fact to put the key in my car would connect automatically to a webradio.
In fact I don't really need to see the screen, the device could stay hidden somewhere inside the car. Here are the features I would like :
- auto boot when I turn on the car, which means when the device receives power from the usb port (my car has an usb port)
- plug an external antenna to get a better reception while driving. I'm thinking of a small android computer with a 3G stick plugged in. I have a 3G stick with an external antenna slot. Or any smartphone with an external antenna slot, but I haven't found one so far.
- eventually auto power down when I turn off the car, but If the device shutdowns when the battery is empty, it could be ok too
I got a LG Doubleplay from a friend and he tryed to flash a rom on it and it went bad, so i try to put it in download to restore the phone but it won't stay in download mode.
When i try to set it to download mode it starts but then after maybe 3 to 5 seconds the progress bar freezes and then the phone restarts.
All the phone does is stay at the lg logo
i've updated to the last Google play music, but now even if i don't use it i've a background service of this app .. is there a way to avoid this background service when not using it ? Even if i didn't launch it of the whole day i have this service ..

View 3 Replies View Relatedhow about putting a limit on the max number of apps that can stay in the task-switcher cache? or allowing selectively selecting which ones stay in the memory N others like tools n utilities frontends (like cpu spy, callrecorder, camera, setcpu no frills, etc) should get the heck out of the cache.
the ideal would be to have only 4 real-app (not utility/tool) [not]processes /cached tasks/ at max for 512mb fones (like my xperia s) and maybe 6 for 1gb ones.
I'm using the Note2 with the TW-based Digiblur rom and am having trouble when playing HTML5 player videos in the stock web browser. Any time a video plays, instead of timing out like they are supposed to, the navigation softkeys on the device stay lit while the video is playing. If I pause or stop the video, everything goes back to normal and the keys time out like they are supposed to. The problem is not present in any video player application, including the stock YouTube client.
