HTC Desire :: Facebook Birthdays Now Show In Claendar Even Though Havent Synced Facebook
Nov 4, 2010My 'accounts & sync' settings have always had 'facebook' turned off for syncing, and I have never turned it on. Yet this morning i was playing around with the bit in 'people' to try and see if the facebook bit in there worked and i would be able to link a contact in there with their facebook account. It asked me to log into facebook (after which incidentally it could not then find the contact in facebook lol). After that i went to the calendar and it now shows ALL 2500 facebook contacts birthdays!!
Please tell me there is a way to undo this. at no point did i ever select auto facebook syncing, or choose to import facebook calendar. Obviously now the calendar is pretty unusable as there are multiple bithdays on every day.

But I face a problem that in webview I have to fix the height so thats why if html content contains less data then it wasted the space. Oct 11, 2010This problem has been bothering me for a while. When I add a phone number with the name of my friend that is the same on my facebook, sometimes it just couldn't find the right one to link to?!
Also, the worst part is even I link it manually, I can't find the contact on the facebook for HTC?! However, I can find contact perfectly with the facebook app on the phone or on the computer. I just don't know why somehow my facebook contacts are missing while I try to link them. Anyone has the solution for this?
I sync all the stuff I can sync already and it doesn't help.

One of the things that bugs me tho, (coming from the iPhone which had that ability) is that the Facebook app, don't show any notifications, and that is something I'd really want. I've tried searching the forum, but couldn't find anything use full. cam out really be true that I can't get any app's which can show me notifications from face book?

Apr 22, 2010I'm having a problem with getting Facebook photos to upload to my wall. Instead they're just showing up in the Mobile Uploads section, without ever appearing in the news feed. I've searched everywhere online and found a few people with the same problem, but no solutions.
What's odd is I didn't have this problem when I tried the same thing yesterday. Yesterday was the first time I'd directly uploaded a photo from my phone to Facebook, though I've had my Droid for months. (Yeah, I'm a little slow with some of this stuff). I used the method of going to the Gallery, choosing my photo and then selecting Menu > Share > Facebook. I added a caption, and the photo & caption showed up on myFacebook wall, just the way I wanted.
Today I tried the same method for a new photo, and it didn't show up on my wall at all, just went straight to Mobile Uploads. As far as I can figure, I did everything exactly the same as I did it yesterday, but maybe I'm missing something. Can anyone think of a step I might have missed, or does anyone know a way to fix this?

Sep 21, 2010I just updated my ROM from Virtuous 2.6 to Virtuous 2.7. Ever since, my Facebook contact pics for almost all my people will not show up in the Messaging app, including my own pic. The pictures show up find under People (HTC's contacts), but won't show up in Messaging.

I was wondering if it was possible to pro-grammatically change the Content Provider used when making a query given a Content URI. The reason being I need to know if it's possible to force the Calendar/Contacts applications to read from a different database via a different Content Provider temporarily while my application is running, so that I can reuse those applications to display my own data. Since the Content URI s are hard coded in each of these applications the only way it might be possible is if we could somehow temporarily change the Content Provider used for a given URI. I know this probably isn't possible, I just need to show it isn't. Could someone confirm this can't be done?

Otherwise, the contact on my phone from Facebook may be, and in many cases is, missing lots of relevant information. Mar 1, 2010I am having a hard time understanding content providers. In the notepad example and others, the content provider never even declares its CONTENT_URI anywhere inside itself, yet the docs say to publicly declare this. It's declared in a different class. So when an activity queries a content provider with a CONTENT_URI, how does Android know which one I want. I see no link between a content provider and its CONTENT_URI declared in another class.
I also don't how to think about intents and content providers. I know that you don't call an intent on a content provider. But an activity queries a content provider without an intent, and an activity has a mimetype attribute in the manifest that would seem to tie it to a content provider.
