As stated. I am using anti theft software that forces my phone to switch on wifi and GPS but as soon as it does I get that message telling me something is using my GPS etc. This looks suspicious to a potential thief in my opinion so I want to know if there was anyway at all I could remove or disable this pop up

So, I've checked 'settings->apps->running' and I see that when I restart my phone the OS turn on Google location Manager, Google Play market, and some other thing.
I would really like if when I turn on my phone- no element could use my GPS unless I specifically tell it to run, then stop the usage when I tell it to close. Part of the tracking prevention, I imagine, will be done by disabling those services which are required for proper part functioning.
I suppose my questions are:
1) What services/elements should I disable?
2) How do I prevent them from running on startup?
3) How do disable parts of android to run on start up, in general?
Also I'd like to note that I would prefer not installing any apps or root the phone.
I want to disable this no sim notification on startup. What should I do?

Is there any way to disable the icons in the notification bar which appear while apps running in background without losing their full funktion?For example I have an "Anti-Virus Program", "LBE Security Master" an "Tasker" running in Background. There a little Icons shown in the Status-Bar and big notifications when I pull down the notification bar. Of course many apps have an option to disable this, but they tell me that they won't work right anymore if I would disable that. Since Jelly-Bean, I think, there is a way to disable notifications from every app but same thing here - apps seem not to work right anymore.
Is there a way to get rid of the icons or the big notifications without losing their funktion?
I have a rooted Sanyo Zio running Android 2.2, kernel 2.6.32.9-perf, on Ting's service (a recently opened Sprint affiliate). Every so often, particularly when in poor reception, I receive notifications along the lines of:
[triangular caution sign]
Error Code 2048:
Network Busy.
Please try again.
Error Code 3000: Server Busy is also common.
These don't bother me much, as Ting just came out of beta and is working on ironing problems out. However, these error codes are accompanied by an annoying chirp tone, which I want to disable. I've dug through the /system/media/audio folders looking for it, and can't find it. Where this particular notification sound is, so I can kill it?

i updated it to .62 only to find it couldn't be rooted, so i downgraded to .58 using the wotan server and re-rooted and all is well but the stupid update prompt is always there.
I have a Galaxy S3 on the Bell Mobile network in Canada, and aside from the horrendous battery life, it's a pretty good phone. One thing I notice that's kinda annoying is the "Connected to Wi-Fi network [network name]" pop-up that comes up quite often. I've managed to snap a screenshot of it.
How to disable this? The only info I've found so far is on the Verizon pop-ups, and entering the *#6335623# code on the dial screen, but nothing comes up when I try that, and I'm not even sure that fix would work for this.
I have a rooted galaxy nexus. How can I disable to OTA update notification. I have tried the method where you use root explorer to access cache/fota folder, but I do not have a fota folder.

But I don't see why it needs to have an icon taking up valuable space in the status bar (as a side note, there's an icon to indicate that it's OFF, so you can't NOT have a location setting icon on there). There was no such icon on my Droid.
Is there a way to disable this icon that anyone knows of? With Wifi/3G, the battery meter, alarm clock, the time, and the bars, they take up over half of my status bar. The problem is compounded by the fact that I have a battery app that always displays the exact battery percentage on the left side (another side note; why isn't the exact percentage shown on the default battery icon?
I am using following code to get GPS location
it is causing two problems
1) when my location is changed / I move my phone from one area to another I dont get updated gps location(latitude/longitude)
2) after getting gps location my gps of phone is enabled how to disable it? code...
Is it possible to disable the 'my location' setting on the HTC Weather Widget? I frequently go to areas where there is no weather data available and would prefer it to stay on, say, London. But I can't see any way of doing this.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just got my phone and the battery might still be stabilizing, and of course I'm fiddling with it a lot and I've installed heaps of apps, but I can't quite work out something. I unplugged my phone at midnight and this morning found my phone at 70% charge. I also got a message from my provider that I'd used up all my data. I checked and found that my phone had used up (sent+received) 30MB overnight. Google Maps was the biggest culprit - it received 700K but it sent almost 8MB. This is while the phone was sitting on my bedside table! And of course, as I'm driving to work (not using the phone at all), Google Maps was transmitting my location information back to it's servers so that the traffic flow is updated on their systems.
That's cool, but there doesn't appear to be any way to disable or turn off this in GM's configuration, or even exit the app. It seems that having My Location services enabled gives Google Maps (and I'm sure other apps like weather, gmail, Contacts, etc.) free reign to send and transmit data all the time. I don't want to have to disable My Location services completely; I want finer control over things on a per-app basis. Having Google Maps transmit 8MB overnight might not seem like a lot, but when the phone is idle, it disables wireless (to save battery) and thus all data is going through 2G/3G and I'm incurring data charges.
Wouldn't it be cool if I could tell my phone to switch wifi on and switch 3g reception off when it senses that I am at work or home based on my gps coordinates and then reverse that when I'm on the road i.e. not at those coordinates I set. Is there an app that does this?

I think this was caused when I ran a location spoofing program on only one of my devices, one of the locations I set it to was Spain (among others).
I've tried clearing the data for the Network Location apps, changing the SSID on my router with no luck.
The only way it shows the correct location is when I go outside and run Google maps long enough to get a GPS fix. But when I go back inside I am back in Spain!

Is this possible? I had my BB configured to disable all LED notifications while in its holster as my wife really has a big problem with flashing lights while we are sleeping.
