I can't figure out how to set my keyboard to automatically correct 'im' to 'I'm' and other punctuation that requires commas. I've gone through my settings a million times. also the benefits of rooting my droid charge?

I would like to make short shopping lists with speech to text, but that involves "hitting" the return key to go to the next line. How do I do this with speech? And along those same lines, how do I add punctuation?
View 17 Replies View RelatedI want to use google voice dictation, but advanced punctuation like quotation marks and parentheses and next line, do not show up when I dictate. it also doesn't like to capitalize the first letter of a sentence.
Dragon seems to handle it well, but I can't use dragon with the Samsung note keyboard.
It seems there is a general voice search / voice recognition issue with non-english languages. The problem is basically that punctuation is written in plain and not recognized. It seems to affect a number of devices (if not all?) running ICS / JB.
So period will write "period" and not "." .
Same for comma that will end in writing "comma" and not ",".
(this of course in each different Language)
This basically makes the voice recognition totally unusable and useless for anything but English. So far, this issue has been reported with the following languages:
French
German
Spanish
Italian

When I originally bought my Android, I cheeped out and didn't get the unlimited messaging plan. I didn't think I'd need it. I don't text. lately however I've started getting more into sending IM's from my phone.
but I didn't know that they were charging me as text messages (it was always free when done on the computer xD). well, I can go to the mobile.yahoo.com website and IM for free from there, but that's kinda a hassle. are there any android apps that that allow me to IM but don't register it as a text message?
Ok so i don't know if this is happening to anyone else, can't find anything even in a google search. Basically my beef win the phone is that if i press space and want a symbol that space away from the previous letter the phone will automatically move the punctuation next to the previous letter. All it does is switch the space and the symbol. This is really annoying if i want to oh let's say "quote" something. Had to type the symbol and backspace to fix and then it doesn't auto correct. Any idea how to fix this? It bugs the crap outta me.
View 12 Replies View RelatedOn occasion, I'll be typing (either vertical or horizontal orientation) and I'll hit the punctuation button (not a long-press on the period) to type a dash and the damn keyboard removes the space I typed after the word. So if I wanted to write the following sentence I'd have to hit delete "I never type dashes -- only semicolons."
Why does the keyboard repeatedly remove the space between the s in dashes and the dash itself? Is there a setting to stop that? Nothing more irritating than speeding along and having to back up because I typed it properly and the device decided to intervene for my benefit.
Aside from switching keyboard applications -- which I don't want to do -- any way to get around this other than hitting delete and retyping it properly
I use commas alot and hate having to press an Alt key or whatever. This is true in Swype, Android, Samsung, and even the BetterKeyboard app I installed.
Any way to customize the keyboards in the Captivate?
Is there an option while using swype to have a period after sentences? Like the iphone u just double tap the space bar and it appears.

The stock wall charger that came with my Droid X is the 5PN5504A, which has an output rating of 5.1V, 850mA. My understanding is that the mini-USB interface is an industry standard for power delivery to portable devices, which I take to mean that any charge source should work (wall charger, desktop PC, laptop) as long it has uses an USB interface. So any USB-->miniUSB cable can be used to charge any mini-usb device, regardless of power source, right?
I already have several other mini-usb devices, such as bluetooth headsets, which all came with their own wall chargers. However, I checked these chargers, and they all have different outputs: 5V @ 200mA, 5V @ 150mA, 5V @ 550mA. Because the default Droid X cable was so short, I was tempted to use these other chargers. I plugged in the 5V@150mA charger to my Droid X, and found that the phone does not show it's charging (the lighting bolt isn't there, there's no animation on the battery indicator). So then I switched to the 5V@550mA charger, and it DOES charge....................
it works perfectly fine with main charge and usb charge and now it won't charge whatsoever no matter how i try. i did the factory reset on my x10. still it wont charge. btw when i turn off my x10 first, then connects it to the power. it would turn on my phone like others but just wont charge.

View 6 Replies View RelatedJust got the EVO last Friday. It replaces a Samsung Moment that died a horrible death.
When I charge it with the cable that came with it, it charges fine. But if I charge it with the Moments cable, it doesn't charge. The battery icon is animated as if it's charging and Spare Parts reports that it's charging, but the battery level continues to fall as if it's not plugged in.
Anyone notice this? My EVO shoots up incredibly when plugged into a wall versus my computer. There was a difference too on my Hero but it wasn't so dramatically different that I would prefer wall to computer. The EVO seems to inch up plugged into the PC, but the wall seems to give it an injection of red bull cocaine.

This may sound like common sense, but there's more to it... Some iPhone users have noticed that the charge from their phone when charged from the mains lasts longer than the charge from the PC via USB. Some sites claim that phone batteries can be 'overcharged' by charging from the mains, and that USB charging doesn't do this. I havn't had my phone long enough to test the 'overcharging' theory, but I was wondering if anyone had any information about these different methods of charging.

I was using my phone all day yesterday and it was fine. THen before bed I picked it up and noticed that the home and back button were flashing and then it stopped. I clicked the lock button but the screen didn't respond. I plugged it into the wall and my laptop and nothing happened, the red light doesn't even come on.
I've tried holding the power button down and the volume button down for over 30 seconds and nothing happens. I really need my phone for work and school and nothing is working for me.
every time i charge my phone to full, the battery level reads that i'm at 91%, never at 100%. i deleted battery stats in recovery but the problem persists. i got an htc inspire and running absolution 3.7.
my current absolution rom is a backup. i had 3 different roms before restoring this rom. should i have done a full wipe besfore restoring the rom?

I just got a new htc one and have had it for a couple months, its been running fine but the other night i was doing some major multi tasking and the phone froze up and became wont work so i held the power button down to reset the phone, it rebooted and came up with a report error to htc message. i hit dont send and then the phone turned off again and wouldnt turn back on. And now it wont even charge like if i plug in the usb it doesnt even show the led light come on. I tried to hard reset the phone with the volume key and power button but it wont work. The only thing it will do is when i hold the power button down the back and home soft keys just blink but nothing else happens.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have fully converted European HTC One with stock 4.2.2 GE, but my bootloader is unlocked and i have CWRM recoery. I have windows 8.1 onmy desktop so can't relock and flash GE recovery. So I can't get OTA from android settings.
So I made a backup tried to flash this .zip through CWMR: [URL]...

When I rebooted my phone and plug to PC - it didn't connected. I tried to charge from wall - not working too. USB just does not work.
I tried to do factory reset, to restore backup, to flash GE 4.2, to flash RUU 4.3 - nothing
But it works with Cyanogenmod 10.1! Storage, charging - all works.

ROM is fine but usb does not work again.
I have a Bluetooth dock that i use to stream music it works great and has a USB port on it to charge my phone. Though whenever i use the usb port it causes distortion in the music streaming.
So i am looking for a software fix to disable charging on my phone (i have root / s-off).
That way i can schedule the hack to charge the phone when i am not around and stream using battery when i am. (without having to undock my phone all the time).
I've seen quite a few threads like this, with phones not turning on - but mine's a bit different.
It was at maybe 20-30% charge level when it just shut down, and it had one this maybe 4 times earlier in the night so I didn't think much of it, I went to trn it back on... and it just didn't. And I tried plugging it in, and the little white light blinks rapidly, and then turns off as well.
I tried plugging it in with 2 different Droid 2 chargers, rebooting it in recovery mode (the screen won't turn on at all), and I took the battery out all night to see if I could fix it that way.. no luck.
It's literally a brand new phone, I got it 2 days ago, never dropped it or anything. Am I going to have to get a replacement? I would really rather not, because the closest replacement center is over an hour away, and I need a phone before I can get over there if possible.
I currently have an Motorola Atrix and it wont charge. The battery shows completely dead. When I plug the phone either into the USB or the wall charger, the led light will turn green and the phone powers on and is completely functional. However, it does not show that it's taking a charge (w/ either usb or wall). Once the plug is removed the phone will shut off and wont turn back on until I plug it back in. I've tried several chargers, stock and non-stock and they work on other phones with no problem. I bought a new battery and it worked for about an hour (guessing it was already charged) plugged it in (both usb and wall) will not show a charge. Now, it's back to the same thing. Battery is completely dead and it will only work when it's plugged in. Also, when I plug it in by usb the computer does recognize it.

View 5 Replies View Relatedyesterday i was walking to my gym, and a few minutes in it started downpouring. after i got back my phone's background light was flickering like a flourescent light in an old abandoned building. i tried restarting it a few times and eventually like 10 minutes after my last restart finished the light's complexion faded and made everything on my phone look pail. i dont know if this was because of the restart or not. anyway, i turned my phone off last night right before i went to bed, and when i woke up it won't turn on, and if i plug it into the charger, the orange LED light doesn't come up. it blinks occasionally when plugged in, but very slowly, alot slower than it's normal blinking.
