Android :: IM App That Doesn't Charge As Text Messages

When I originally bought my Android, I cheeped out and didn't get the unlimited messaging plan. I didn't think I'd need it. I don't text. lately however I've started getting more into sending IM's from my phone.
but I didn't know that they were charging me as text messages (it was always free when done on the computer xD). well, I can go to the mobile.yahoo.com website and IM for free from there, but that's kinda a hassle. are there any android apps that that allow me to IM but don't register it as a text message?

I put my phone on vibrate and everything seems to be working fine except for some parts..when i get a text my vibrate doesn't work [i'm using chompsms] but when i'm on the phone and i get a text my phone ivbrates or when i set the keyboard to vibrate it doesn't work or i get mail notifications of mail or from fb it doesn't work but other than that all the vibrates seem to be working fine. can anyone help me? i was wondering if i could just press the factory reset on my phone to see if that would work but i'm rooted.. would that effect anything? like if i were to do that, would it brick my phone since its rooted? i was going to unroot it and bring it in to sprint but i heard that there were some issues when people tried flashing back so i don't know if i want to do that..

Just got the EVO last Friday. It replaces a Samsung Moment that died a horrible death.
When I charge it with the cable that came with it, it charges fine. But if I charge it with the Moments cable, it doesn't charge. The battery icon is animated as if it's charging and Spare Parts reports that it's charging, but the battery level continues to fall as if it's not plugged in.

I have a car charger for my EVO, but it doesn't charge it just gives it power?Do I need a special micro usb? Plus why is the wall charger so short? Kind of lame in my book. Everything else so far I absolutely love. Just switched from VZW BB bold to the Sprint EVO 4g Hopefully the service won't be too bad. I have 30 days though to decide!

So today my USB breaks so the phone doesn't charge without putting some torque on the cable (I'm sure the USB jack has pulled off the motherboard). Should I live with the hassle until 2.2 is rooted, or return the phone for a replacement and risk that they will force an update to stock 2.2? I'm assuming I'd have to return to stock before taking phone in for service, too (and just after I finished getting everything setup after updating to rooted Froyo).

Software number 1.21.405.2, For some reason I don't get the green fully charged led since updating the phone's software, is this just coincidence? This is while charging from my PC's USB.

Does anyone else notice this issue on the Dinc? I'm on to my second Dinc and it happens to that one as well: Once the battery gets in the "red" (i think 10% or 15%) it doesn't start charging at all unless it's been plugged in for 20 - 30 minutes. Regularly if you charge your battery (from the non-red level) you see the little lightning bolt appear and then you see the progress bar go higher and higher and reset and go higher, higher, etc. When the phone is in red status, you just see the lightening bolt and no progress is made. I tested this by leaving it plugged in for 10 - 15 minutes and unplugged it and it did not move up 1 percentage point. After 20 - 30 minutes suddenly you see the progress bar move. This really sucks because once your phone is in red, it takes a while before it starts charging. I brought my phone to Verizon, had it swapped out and my "new" (refurbed) phone does the same thing. Searched the forums and checked out google and found tons of battery issues, but nothing like this. Anyone else experiencing this?

I rooted my Moto Droid the other day to 2.2. Now when I plug it into my computer, it doesn't seem to charge. Yesterday I plugged it into my notebook and work desktop and it was at 50%. Left it there for a while, came back and was still at 50%. Tried it while mounted and not mounted. Yet, I Plug it into CLA and Home dock all the time and charges fine.

My X10 has been charging over night, then it stops at 93% in the mornings... I have to unplug the charger, and the put it back in to get to 100% charge...It's been happening everyday for 3 days now... Starting to worry me...9 hours of charge not enough?

I Bought S Duos , Worked Very Well , For 1 Year Then , I Put It On a desktop PC With USB Cable Then , I Tried To Charge IT But It Doesn't Charge With The Charger.
I Tried The USB Cable , IT's Charging 100% Well .I Thought It Fixed AND I put It In The Charger Again With No Response UNTIL I Found That Its Charging But Without The Charging Sign.

I'm stuck around issue of TextView. I have string which has around 2000+ characters also has some HTML in it. I'm using below code to display this TextView. Hi, this is just testing for dynamic all about you can know. So lets move on to new topic of which was never closed. So lets go bye " All characters get replace Why is it so ? I tried adding/removing/increasing min-height / max- height. Please can any tell me that is it bug in android that it cant handle long String in TextView?

I am new to the Android platform, getting my Droid X yesterday. I had no trouble setting up four mailboxes, and am sending and receiving mail seamlessly.There is one bizarre thing: if I read a message on my phone, the IMAP client sets the flag on the server as 'read', but if I delete the message on the Droid it is left on the server (and all my other IMAP clients.) Has anyone noticed this? I can't find a setting that would effect this behavior.I update my mail every 15 minutes, but the problem persists even after a manual refresh.

I did attempt to use the search feature here but didnt come up with the results I was looking for (or maybe I used it wrong?) I ask the following questions because unfortunately, I dont have good eyesight.
1. Regarding font size. I realize there is no current setting for font size on this phone (that I know of) does anyone here know if the upcoming 2.1 update will include that?
2. I know there is a text size option for the browser. However, it doesent seem to work on most websites I go to (like CNN for example) I try setting it at different sizes and nada. So far my browsing experience hasent been that good because of this (having to constantly strain my eyes looking at website text) Any tips on why the text size option doesent seem to work?
3. is there anyway to increase the text size of emails and text messages?

If I need to paste text from another app in my Android phone (Samsung Galaxy SII, O2, Jelly Bean), like from Google Keep or Docs, into a text message it tends to convert from an SMS to MMS. This leads to a charge for me as my SMS messages are included in my tariff but I have no allowance for MMS messages. I presume that this might be something to do with character encoding or other formatting data that is pasted in, but that is only a guess.
Is there any way to stop short messages from being converted to MMS messages like this:? I couldn't find any 'paste clipboard as plain text' option in Android Jelly Bean.

Just switching to the Eris Droid phone and like it for the most part...what I don't like is it's email client. The GMail one works nicely, however, the Mail that comes on the phone doesn't allow you to select multiple messages and delete them..like outlook or the versamail client on a Palm device.

I was reading some info awhile ago on the droid on some site and it stated that IM apps etc use your text messages on your plan please tell me this is incorrect.My droid is supposed to be here tomorrow and definitely am not interested in this phone if Verizon is pulling that crap on this phone.I'm aware that is how IM apps work on non smart phone Verizon phones and assumed that wasn't the case for the Droid.

I can't get used to the texting app that comes on the Epic 4g. It uses thread format which I can't adjust to. I would like to have normal text messages where I can reply to one or start a new one. Can anyone help? Is there a diff app I could use?

I got my Droid Eris about a month ago and after hating it for a few days, I love it! I do get frustrated that there's no instruction book with it. All the things I've learned have either been by accident or someone else showing me. Can someone tell me how to retrieve "draft" text messages? Yesterday I was interrupted while typing a message and saw a pop-up that it was saved to drafts, but I've looked everywhere and can't figure out how to find it.
