General :: (Asteroid) Tablet PC Will Not Boot
Sep 10, 2011
I have never even heard of the make and no software comes with the device. It's a so called "Asteroid" tablet which will not get past the boot screen! it just gets stuck on the android logo with the dots going up and down the space ship. He said it worked for one day and then it broke. It does look very similar to the generic ones being sold on other websites and are just called "7 Inch Android 2.2OS Tablet with WiFi and Camera".
P.S:
android 2.2
Kernel:2.6.32
build:v1.5.1

I just got a Arnova 10D G3 and it doesn't boot. All I get is the "Arnova" logo on a black screen. I bought it on a refurbished condition, it was a pretty good deal so I am ready to do any risky procedure to make it work since I don't have much to lose.
I downloaded the latest firmware from the official website but I am unable to use it because I can't access the recovery mode.
How can I make it boot?
I am now able to access the recovery mode (power + vol up) but the tablet keeps rebooting after loading this mode. I don't even have a menu.

I've bought an Android Tablet a few months ago, there was an update recently, and my tablet stopped working, it doesn't pass the boot image. I don't know which model is my tablet (chinese tablet i guess). I've taken some pictures of the tablet.

I've got a issue with my impression 9.7" tablet... It seems not to BOOT, I think I may have accidently left the file system READ only... I can gain shell access and see what's going on however I cannot get it to remount as read/write right before it turns off... Factory reset won't do anything either... Here's the logcat as much as I can get out of it...

I am currently trying to flash my new Sanei n10 tablet with CM10 and it is proving much more difficult than I first imagined.
My main problem seems to be that the device just does not want to boot in CWM. I have installed the latest version of CWM (found here) via the Terminal Emulator but it doesn't boot into CWM Recovery, but rather just boots normally. I have also tried using the hard keys to boot into it but all that does is boot me into the default android system recovery (3e) which is useless as it will only update from verified roms.
The device is rooted and I have ROM Manager installed. I have given Terminal Emulator superuser permissions... It just doesn't seem to want to boot into CWM Recovery. I have tried using both ROM Manager as well as NOVO7 Tools to boot into it but I get the same results (device just reboots normally)
I think that it might be something to do with the stock ICS 4.0.4 that came with the device.that is causing me so much hastle.

I've been trying to root my Nook Tablet to CM10 unsuccessfully. I found this [URL]..... which led me to believe that downgrading to the 1.4.0 update would be useful.
I followed the link from this, [URL] ..... and downloaded the .zip and put it on an mSD. I proceeded to place it in the tablet, turned it on, and the update went through and my screen went black. After a minute or so I hit the power on button, and nothing happened. Nothing works on it now. I've tried hitting the power button for 20+ seconds then the 2 seconds, as well as the power + N button. The screen remains black. I can connect the nook to my computer and the power cable lights up, as well as when it's placed on the wall.
The Nook Tablet (it's a BNTV250) isn't turning on.

As per the title, I have a client who wants this done to their generic chinese/yarvik tablet. It uses the Allwinner A10 cpu afaik. Due to my very limited experience in building kernels(where I believe the "option" to enable/disable this is)/roms + the lack of sources for the tablet(just getting into fastboot took a while).

Recently I have rooted my android tablet and I was exploring what I could do. One guy was telling me about an app that can work with performance in game(ChainFire 3D). He said it lowers the pixels in the game to run better. I tapped the install button and it said rebooting now. It then started to reboot but then proceeded to get stuck at the boot screen. I tried doing a hard reset but it is still stuck. I have also tried flashing the stock rom, but I get installation aborted when I try and install it.

I have a chinese Allwinner 7" tablet ( Rocky M713HD ) , I was trying install a CWM recovery image. I connected my tablet to PC, opened my terminal and taped:
adb push recovery.img /data/
adb shell "cat /data/recovery.img > /dev/block/nandg; sync"
adb shell "echo -n boot-recovery | busybox dd of=/dev/block/nandf count=1 conv=sync; sync; reboot"
After that, my tablet freezes on bootloader with no single info on adb when typing "adb devices"
As you can see, I missed a caracter on the 3rd line: ( nandg/nandf )
I was on Allwinner 4.2.2 ROM.

I received a generic Chinese table. it worked well for about two-and-a-half months. Then, just recently, I discovered rooting and the wonderful things it allowed you to do. I decided to download a system-tweak app, which included a CPU control. I was a little wary of overclocking my CPU, having heard it may decrease its life expectancy, but finally I thought "What the heck?" and in a brilliant stroke of genius cranked my 1Ghz processor up to 1.5Ghz, and it promptly froze, forcing me to power it down. When I turned it back on, I discovered that it had been factory reset. I re-installed my apps, including the system-tweak app, and decided not to touch the CPU controls for a while. Soon after, while at my sister's talent show, I discovered I had about 30% battery life, and I was still supposed to record her. So I figured I'd underclock it to save the battery.
Unfortunately, as my finger touched the slider, my brother bumped my arm and caused me to lower the CPU frequency to its lowest setting. It became extremely sluggish, almost to the point of being unresponsive, and finally I had to shut it down. When I restarted it, it started to boot but then got stuck on the shimmering Android logo, and now that's all it does. I can't even boot into recovery mode, and unfortunately I had just turned off USB debugging that same day.

I have a problem with my chinatablet.
It's a X-Touch tablet X714 as the back case says and DFP7006.... anyway i don't mind what the heck it is.. problem is:
It's been working satisfactory for half an year and yesterday i installed BusyBox Pro, dsploit and Flappy Birds.apk from unknown sources... so than battery died (it dies in 3hrs) and today when i charged it up it booted to factory erased mode (cold or hard boot i guess you call). I didn't mind it at all, started installing apps from SD but there was not enough space, actually not even a bit of storage. Now every time i boot my tablet it keeps erasing. Strangely enough i found mojang folder in the mnt/sdcard/ directory which i could access with built in file explorer.... So tablet didnt actually erased everything, but rather just denied my permission to use them and any free internal memory..

I have 4 boot animations that I want to convert to work on my Nexus 10 full screen.
Also, how to be able to edit [URL] to show 10 instead of 4 or completly remove the number so it works nicely on both my Nexus 4 and Nexus 10.

I have a Nexus 7 tablet and every few days I notice a few new apps on the device. I'm not sure if they're full apps or just simply icons to download apps or get more information. I have tried to avoid using them. I know previously I had a couple apps that were sending notifications to the notification system that I considered to be spam. After some research I found out how you can find out which apps are doing it and disable notifications from those apps so that took care of that.

I try to understand android boot sequence on my JB (under CM10). I found some docs and there should be specific partitions (boot, recovery, system, cache, data).
My understanding of the boot sequence is now:
A) normal boot:
1) Power ON ->
2) bootloader ->
3) boot-partition where i flashed the kernel aka boot.img ->
4a) system-partition with the OS (libs, UI, etc) where i unpacked over CWM my customROM.zip ->
4b) data-partition, where i unpacked google-apps.zip and installed all the apps ->
4c) cache-partition with user data
B) recovery boot (adb reboot recovery):
1) Power ON ->
2) bootloader ->
3) recovery-partition with CWM where i may unpack all the .zip stuff to proper partitions, or restore from sdcard, etc.
Is this correct? I wonder, because i didn't installed CWM into recovery-partition. It cames from install of CM10 (fastboot -i 0xfce flash boot boot.img), so it must be in boot-partition and not in recovery?
So, next confusion: i looked up to /proc/mtd and i don't see neither boot nor recovery partition here:
Quote:
# cat /proc/mtd
dev: size erasesize name
mtd0: 19000000 00040000 "system"
mtd1: 00600000 00040000 "appslog"
mtd2: 06580000 00040000 "cache"
mtd3: 1a400000 00040000 "userdata"
I did a backup with CWM and loocked the data. There aren't boot, and recovery backups:
Quote:
# ls -lha /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/2012-10-04.18.49.55/
d---rwxr-x 2 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:56 .
d---rwxr-x 3 system sdcard_r 4.0K Oct 4 18:49 ..
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 1.6K Oct 4 18:54 .android_secure.vfat.dup
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 54.6M Oct 4 18:55 cache.yaffs2.img
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 360.2M Oct 4 18:53 data.yaffs2.img
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 212 Oct 4 18:56 nandroid.md5
----rwxr-x 1 system sdcard_r 214.6M Oct 4 18:51 system.yaffs2.img
#
So, i think i didn't understand the boot sequence and partition schema corectly.

I am trying to do some low level performance testing related to device processor cores through adb which I feel it is affected by Android background services and system stuff.
As I know that the Android boot sequence stages are as follow:
1.Execute Boot ROM code.
2.Execute the boot loader.
3.Load the Linux kernel.
4.Launch Zygote, which initializes the Dalvik VM.
5.System server which loads the Android system.
So my question is how can I interrupt this sequence to force it stop on stage 3 to load Linux kernel. This can implement my intermediary performance testings before loading again Android system.
Does Fastboot or Clockworkmod recovery can load my device to a kind of Linux kernel?

Instead of seeing the boring old Android logo or my service provider's logo, I'd love to see the standard text-based Linux boot screen that shows the status of all the hardware and configuration info as my phone boots. My current phone is an HTC EVO 3D running Cool ICS with Sense 3.6 and Revolutionary CWM.

So I held down the power button to reboot it but when I try starting it back up again it goes through the normal process up until a black screen with the word android that is in blue and is flashing. I'm having an issue with my tablet, an Onda VI40 Ultimate. It was left off for a day or two, and when I plugged it in yesterday I got the battery screen, but it was in orange and showing that it needed to be charged. I figured I'd leave it alone for a few hours, then come back to it.
I left it plugged in for four hours, but when I came back to it the tablet is just giving the same message. I took out the charger, plugged it in again and got the same screen. I plugged it into my desktop pc via usb cable, and it just gives the same screen over and over. I got another charger, one exactly like it, and plugged it in. Same screen again. I pressed the reset button, same screen. I tried holding down the power button and volume up button, but no deal. I have the latest CM9 build installed on it, with ICS 4.0.4.
I have included below a terribly blurry photograph of what I'm seeing when I try to turn it on, or do anything with it. The tablet just never seems to charge no matter what I do, nor will it boot in any way.

Thinking about getting the moms a tablet for Christmas. Loving the reviews of the Asus Transformer but my original plan was getting her a 4G device so that she can use it even when wifi isn't available. Just wanted thoughts and opinions from those who have had experiences on either end and any recommendations.
