I have a small issue with widgets..
I'm currently on APEX launcher and cm9. When i put any widgets on the home screen that auto update, they do work ok for a short while, but then stop. for instance, a clock widget will work for a 10 minutes maybe, but then stick.
I don't use any a task killer.

I have been using nova launcher and have been able to add sms unread widgets to the dock area.
Is it possible to add widgets to the dock area in apex launcher. I have tried and failed.
Using aokp build 33 rom.
I'm redoing my home screen, and I want to have a few text icons that take me directly to specific home screens. Apex launcher has action shortcuts for this, but they are only 1x1. I cannot use widgets to get these actions... I have to use shortcuts. I have done what I want with 1x1 shortcuts, but they are just too small for my taste. I really want 2x1 shortcuts. I have not been able to figure out how to make them with either Simple Text or Desktop Visualizer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedAnyone having trouble with widgets stop updating? Like my clock/calendar/weather/news/pretty much any widget i have stops updating after an hour. So i look at my clock widget two hours later and it is an hour behind. Happens to ALL my widgets.Even the quick turn on/off wifi,bt,gps and such. They just stop updating/showing animation.I have ADW launcher installed. I am wondering if it is that. I do not really want to remove it as i hate the stock 3 button interface at the bottom (why do i need a contacts and phone, just use the phone to look thru contacts, wasted space IMO) and am quite keen on keeping the 5 button.Any ideas? If i power off the phone and turn it back on it's fine again for about an hour. SOmetimes randomly thru the day it will start updating and working fine again then randomly stop again.
View 12 Replies View RelatedSince upgrading to ICS, I've been curious about the ICS only launchers. I've seen good work from the developer of each, so I have no preference with regard to developer. Then again, for now, Trebuchet, the CM9 launcher, is meeting my needs.
I was using Go Launcher Ex on Gingerbread, but I think it's gotten too bloated. I love how fast CM9 runs on my phone and I don't want to slow it down.
Also, are Apex and Nova just Launcher Pro alikes or do either bring something new to the table?
I'm using Apex Launcher with the Tablet ModUI on my E4GT (Sprint GS2) and for some reason I don't have anything related to "dock" in Apex Launcher.
I have dock options, and a dock in ADW and Nova. I prefer Apex just because I can have 8x8 as compared to 7x7 in Nova, and ADW makes the icons too little.
With all this screen space, I can tolerate not having a dock, but I still want one. Where are dock settings? Maybe I turned them off or something.
The weird thing is I don't see anything related to the dock. Lyk "scrollable dock" or "dock pages" or anything. It's as if Apex Launcher doesn't have a dock.
Here are some screen shots of the Apex Settings and home screens. The tiny icons are ADW and the ICS icons are Nova. The screen with no Dock is how Apex looks.
I even uninstalled and re-installed the app.
i've read on some topic that backing up "Widgets" with Titanium backup then restoring after a fresh install will restore all widget in their place. well it doesn't... at all. i've searched but didn't find any solution. i can't believe it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am running Apex Launcher Pro and have started to notice a problem. When I uninstall apps that I have in folders in Apex Launcher Pro, the icons for those apps are not being removed when i uninstall the apps. I uninstalled roughly 30-40 apps not too long ago and they are all still present in my app folders on my desktop. Is there a way to have Apex remove these icons when uninstalling apps? Currently I have to go and test icons to see if the apps are installed or uninstalled in order to test them, which can be quite annoying if you have a large number of apps.
I am running the latest Apex on a Verizon GS3 running Synergy ROM.

MY QUESTION - APPS IN APEX LAUNCHER - Nexus 4
When I install an app (which is typically via the Play Store) the app icon does not end up on my home screen. Or what I think Apex calls a drawer. Occasionally an app does appear there automatically, but perhaps a couple out of the 50 or so apps I've installed.
The only way I have found to get them onto my drawer (or home screen) is I have to hold my finder on the screen and the "Add to Home screen" menu pops up. From there I can select "Shortcuts" and from the top of that menu I can select "Apps". I can then select just ONE app to appear on my home screen. But the thought of doing this for every app doesn't make sense to me. Is there a way to get them there automatically?
Perhaps I am completely misunderstanding the concept of the home screens. I am switching over from iOS, and there one organises all apps on home screens. Perhaps on Android the home screen is not meant for storing and accessing all the app icons??
i just wanted to know that is there a way to change the whole icon pack in APEX launcher besides the theme .. There are many Icons sets available for android so i want to use them. Another thing is that is also want to change the font of my device (Desire HD)

I installed a ported CM7.1 to my Liquid Metal and is working incredibly well, except for the launcher, which kept crashing and crashing.
I uninstalled the original ADWLauncher and installed the last one from the market [which works like a charm].
The problem is: If I select a theme from the themechooser, some items not related with the launcher (i.e. notification bar, menus etc) change depending on the theme, the Launcher doesn't.
OK so I've had this LG L70..So the stock launcher is OK but no wear near better them sum or these aftermarket launchers... Next launcher in general. Well after downloading next Launcher I tried to set up my home screens with the same widgets I had on the stock launcher with no luck. It tells me there is a problem with the widgets tap to reload. When I tap they disappear.

I am using Go Launcher on Galaxy Note and it appears to redraw/reload all widgets and icons on the home screen if I rotate the screen i.e while going from Landscape to Potrait Mode and vice versa , all widgets/icons reload.
While rotating applications , this does not happen.
Just got a Galaxy Skyrocket (jumped ship from iPhone 4) and switched the launcher to Go Launcher EX. However, I noticed that I can't exit/quit some of the apps by choosing the "close" option for the running app. In Go Launcher, you can get a list of (background) running apps and if you tap the icon of an app, you get a pop-up with options "close", "lock', "goto", and "info". I would think by choosing "close', it would "exit" or "quit" the app, and clear the memory footprint. However, for some apps, like Facebook, Tweeter (actually TweetCaster), etc.--they will disappear for a while and come back again. So the "close" action does not really "kill" the app.
How can I really kill the app? I don't want Tweeter to be constantly running in the background and pulling down hundreds of tweets.
Also how can I stop some apps, e.g. Facebook, from pre-loading? I don't want these apps running in the background eating up the resources when I don't need them. There must be a way, Just haven't figure it out yet.
Recently if I switch phone off I find that when I power it back up it keeps asking me which of my installed launchers to use as default.
how I can stop this? I rarely switch off phone and have ticked the make launcher default button but it still resets when rebooted.

I just installed beautiful widgets but it's not updating the time. i have advanced task manager installed but have beautiful widgets as an exception so it won't kill it. same thing with other time widgets as well.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI dunno what setting I tweaked or killed, but the temperature hasn't updated in a few hours though I have it set to update every 15 minutes. I checked a bunch of settings all around but can't seem to find out what's going on. Any advice?
Also is there a way for the widget (beautiful smaller home) to source weather data from the stock htc weather app? I thought I had it selected to launch weather when I tap the weather info in the widget, but that still launches the beautiful weather screen. Conversely when I tap the date and time I'm taken to the respective stock apps like I want.
My apps widgets arent updating according to the settings. For example, weather bug widget, and Google finance, and engadget. I have to click into the app itself to get it to appear correctly. Sorta defeats the purpose of a widget! Is there another parent setting that is preventing this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I have an HTC Clock widget on my home screen the time does not update fluidly. The clock will display the correct time only after I've unlocked the phone and given it several seconds to update. If I swipe over to another screen, wait any period of time (the longer the better), and swipe back; the clock will display the time at which I left that screen and again needs several seconds before it leaps to the correct time. I've tested this theory on the native Android clock widget and it worked correctly. IMO, it defeats the purpose of having the HTC clock widget when the clock in the notifications bar is always accurate. I am also using ATK but I've made sure the Clock process/app is in the ignore list.

I want to update the widget every minute or so, from when the user initiates the tracking to when the bus has departed (i.e. the time runs out). This widget needs to be updated more frequently than what updatePeriodMillis allows, which is every 30 seconds. I reckon about once a minute. Being new to Android programming, I can think of a few ways to do this, but I would probably end up doing it in a way that consumes way too much battery etc, so I'm looking for some insights from more experienced Android developers. How do I start the timer? How can I access the widget instance from my applications run-time? And so on.

I stopped using it and went to SportsTap.Again, it worked at first, but then said no games scheduled (which I know wasn't true).I went back to ESPN, but it won't do anything when I hit the widget. I have to go to my app drawer to open it to get any kind of information. What's the point of a widget if it doesn't do anything except take up space?Any ideas out there? (I tried deselecting the home screen cache option in LPP, but it didn't matter)
