I just got an HTC Desire that was locked to Telus (Canadian Carrier). I have read that numerous people are using it on Rogers network. From the day I got it when I put my rogers sim card in (the right way) it said "No SIM card in phone" so I could not enter an unlock code. Thinking the SIM was defective went to Telus and tried one of their sim cards and it worked fine, then I went to Rogers thinking it was a problematic card. We tried 4 cards and none of them worked. I then went to Bell (another canadian carrier) and tried their sim card. It worked as well but said that the phone was locked. I purchased an unlock code from the internet which worked. Now the Bell sim card works as well becuase the phone is unlocked. I put my Rogers SIM back into it and it still sais "No SIM card in phone". I also tried a SIM from a european company and it did not work as well. This HTC Desire works on the same 3G 850/1900 GSM that Rogers uses.

View 36 Replies View RelatedI don't know if i'm the only one.. but i can only access the Japan Mode in the FM Radio. Only frequencies from low 70s to high 80s mhz range. I have researched online, here and have only found the opposite, which is the Japan Mode is missing. I update to 2.2 yesterday.

And it would seem most of the benefits of rooting were addressed in the update but I am interested in overclocking, better apps and partitioning. Seems like even with the update I still can't move all my apps to my SD card as I thought I might be able to and I've been told that is the dev's problem and not Google but with rooting can more be moved to my SD?

I have tried to force it to update, removed all my subscriptions and re-added them, cleared the cache and stored data. All with various cycles of turning the phone on and off. No luck. It is now a blank widget and when I try to add RSS feeds it won't list any and effectively nothing happens when I tap the widget.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got the update request on my phone for Froyo 2.2. I downloaded it using the WIFI. However when it came time to install it said I did not have enough memory and took me to a screen to delete some apps which I did.
After doing this I no longer get the request to upgrade and when I check to see if there any updates available (under "About Phone") it says "there are no updates available". I checked to see what the latest firmware was and it says 2.1 so I know it hasn't updated. I have no idea how to download it again and I have called Vodafone (my service provider), HTC and Carphone Warehouse (the place I got it from) to no avail.
Is there a way to update all apps (with updates avaliable) with click of a button, instead of going through one by one?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHaving exported address book file to pc, and imported to Google contacts, my Desire now reads contacts from my Google account. I then deleted all contacts stored on the phone to remove duplicates.However, I now don't appear to be able to edit contacts. Changing primary contacts reverts after a few minutes, and I am unable to add new contacts to Google from my phone. It's almost as if my Desire is set to read only, or something.Any ideas?

When I updated the desire I never had the gold card in so I know this is the problem. post a link so I can download the vanilla 2.2 with sense as when I tried this morning to click on a link on here it was asking for usernames and passwords.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm pretty new to the android forum so please bare with me. I've got the DHD and I love it. But the only issue I have is these pre-installed apps such as; facebook, twitter and peep.
First of all why do i need twitter AND peep? I want to get rid of the latter and i've heard that I need to root my phone to do that. Can someone point me to a newbs step by step to rooting the DHD if such a thing exists please?
Secondly, the pre-installed apps don't have the option of updating! So as far as I can see I have to actually download these apps again from the market and then update them when they come.
The Gallery on my Desire isn't refreshing when I have copied new png files to a folder.The new folder just isn't appearing.Any ideas?The phone is using ota ROM which is stock vanilla rooted 2.2
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to refresh friendstream is gets permanently stuck on "updating" and the only way to get it to work again is to restart the phone.More often than not I can't view updates on my phone because it just gets stuck, but occasionally it will work once. but if I try again I'm not so lucky!Anyone have idea what's wrong? It used to work perfectly before the Froyo update. It's been hit and miss ever since.
