I have a G1 and Windows 7. I just install the new sdk-r04 windows usb driver and java SE 1.6.0_17. I tried to start ddms and nothing. When i enter "adb devices" im getting this: List of devices attached completely empty. C:UsersRoy>adb get-state unknown.

But when i do a "adb devices" i dont see any device. i did the usb_driver fresh installation guide, but it returned "windows could not find a better driver than currently installed" I havd pointed to sdpath/usb_driver. what's wrong and how to resolve this?

The software and drivers installed without a problem.The device, however, was not recognized by Sync. Try as I might.Tinkered with the settings in the handset, too - eg. prompt to choose function (I don't even get a prompt when I connect the USB!), checked debugger mode, et al.The phone continues to charge; and that's the only thing that happens.I am running Windows XP (32 bit), SP3. I have tried so many things like: "mount and unmount" the SD card and the internal memory, also i have tried the USB debugging, i hava also tried the kies option on the phone, and nothing.. i have all the Samsung USB Drivers (version V.1.3.450.0) i have downloaded the kies program and the kies mini and they haven't work... what am i missing??? can anyone help me? View 2 Replies View RelatedI got my HTC incredible 2 days ago. When I first got it it had no sd card, so i went back to the store and the guy gave me one. But even after putting the sd card in the device the device still doesnt recognize it. When I go to the settings and click on sd card and phone storage under sd card it says, total space: unavailable, available space: unavailable. this is a major problem cause now i cant download files or use several applications or features. ive tried taking it out and putting it back in, restarting the phone, and formatting the sd card to no avail. i'm no tech expert, but pretty tech savvy. This problem, though, has me pulling my hair out. it seems like a lot of ppl have been having the same problem, but no one has any answer that seems to be working. im going to the store tomorrow to see if its a problem with the sd card, but wanted to check if it was a problem with the phone or if anyone else has had the same problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI use Windows 7, received my Vibrant a few weeks ago and have been having a great time, but my phone doesn't mount! It mounted the very first time but after making a potential mistake, it stopped. Here's what happened: Yesterday I installed several apps (Beautiful Widgets, WidgetLocker, just for reference), and for the first time since receiving my handheld, wanted to add some files to it via my pc. I connected my Android as usual only to find that while both the phone & sd card were recognized on my computer, both contained no records, which was obviously a glitch.
I then tried unmounting my phone, and screwed up by selecting for my phone to be a media device rather than mass storage. Windows began searching for the device drivers, was unable to find them, and gave the message: "device driver software was not successfully installed." And now, whether mounted or not, windows no longer recognizes my phone's storage. My Android however, has no problems going from mounted to unmounted. However, I have tried connecting my phone to two other computers and none recognize my device.
I plugged my Droid X into my computer to try and transfer a video I took today. It came up with a Motorola "CD ROM" drive. I clicked the setup file, installed it, then switched my phone to USB Storage. Windows tried installing the drivers and said there was an error. Now when I connect my phone to the computer nothing happens besides windows saying theres an unknown device.

View 1 Replies View RelatedJust started developing apps and am having a small problem. I can test the apps on the emulator but I cannot test them on my physical android device. When I am asked to select a running device I get a device listed as: Serial Number/name:? AVD name: N/A Target: unknown etc,
It seems that my device is being picked up but not able to be used. When I try to run the app I get an "Must set android.target.avd" error.
Is there something I am missing?

I flush and close out_stream. I can even seem to be able to read from the file on the device (printing above output, using fileinputstream, to an edittext.

since I have rooted my device (iMiTo AM801 running Android Gingerbread 2.3.1) I'm not anymore able to power off it properly.After pressing for some seconds the power button and after I confirm the message asking if I want to power off the device, it never actually turns off and I need to press the reset button.The problem is that quite often the reset button restart the device! after I start the procedure for normal turn off (pressing the power button for some seconds, and answering the confirmation message) in the background I see a a message appearing just in the bottom toolbar of Android, but I cannot see what is says as the power off message is a modal window.

I got to the Volume Down+Camera+End step and plugged in the USB and it said "USB device not recognized." Something like that. I tried for about an hour, restarting PC, toggling USB debugging, and turning off the phone. After that, I got fed up and deleted the update software from my desktop and told my mom to take me to Sprint next weekend.

That info is verbatim off my phone. Seems odd at points but i really triple checked.
My problem is that i cannot sync my device with Outlook. It starts the sync the first time i install everything, including HTC Sync and the HTC xp driver, but times out about halfway through the process, leaving me with names in the contacts but none of the actual info on the phone. Just empty contact names.
HTC and Rogers are unable to help me. I have used Windows mob. for the last 5 years and have never had a problem on any of my several home built and store bought computers. This is a first! So i have this phone i paid a bunch of cash for and its primary purpose (to me at least) being a portable outlook, is effed.
Anyone at all have this trouble? The last tech support guy i spoke with at Rogers admitted to me, probably shouldn't have, that he can't get his phone to sync either and he gave up and went back to iphone.

I did some further research and a quick search of the AOSP code. This revealed that the functionality is yet to be implemented. which obviously explains why the trigger wasn't being fired . The device-removed and service-exited triggers are also missing.
I found https://groups.google.com/group/android-developers/browse_thread/thre but I cannot respond to that thread anymore (perhaps they expire?). I've tried with both the 1.5 SDK and the 1.6 SDK. I have tried all the suggestions in the aforementioned thread. I can mount the device just fine, but adb does not work whether it is mounted or not. I've tried it both as root and as myself and with it in $PATH as well as using. In the dir. Adb appears to "work" as it tells me "List of devices attached". At some point right after I installed 1.5, I remember setting something up to make the USB connection easier, but I don't remember what that was. My hypothesis at this point is that is somehow interfering, but any help you can give either way would be much appreciated.
