How to upgrade Eclair (2.0) to Froyo(2.2).
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've posted this question over on the Samsung Galaxy S section, however, it may be a more general query that someone can help with, particularly the unrooting query as I realise some other phone users have already went through the 2.1-2.2 upgrade. I've rooted and applied the "one click LAG fix" to my glitchy SGS running 2.1 and the phone performs very smoothly and reliably since. (benchmarks are consistently over 2200, although I realise that statistics aren't everything)
It is expected that sometime in the next few weeks in the UK (???) that the upgrade to Froyo will be available through the Samsung KIES desktop software rather than OTA and I have the following queries.
1. Should the phone be unrooted before an upgrade is attempted?
2. Should the "LAG fix" be removed before an upgrade?
3. Has anyone previously removed their "LAG fix" and can they advise if there are any gotchas I should look out for?

View 19 Replies View RelatedI did the manual upgrade to 2.2 Froyo last night and 2 applications have stopped working
-1) Ringo Lite is totally gone and will not install at all manually.
-2) Open Home is installed but cannot seem to make it stick as the default "home" application. Everytime I hit the Home button on my N1 it goes back to the 2.2 (froyo) default home screen.
The Android 2.2 Upgrade List: Phones Definitely Getting Froyo
Nexus One: Despite the shuttering of its online store, Google's flagship phone is still first in line for the Froyo upgrade. In late May, a "very limited test group" received an early copy of the 2.2 software. Google has since been working on final tweaks and expects a widespread rollout to begin soon.
Motorola Droid: The Droid that started it all is set to be second in line for the Android 2.2 upgrade. Early reports suggested the Droid could see Froyo before the end of June. We all know what happened with the Droid's 2.1 upgrade schedule, though, so don't mark your calendars just yet.
HTC Droid Incredible: HTC has confirmed that its newest Droid handset will be feasting on Froyo. No specific timeframe has been released outside of sometime "in the second half of this year."
HTC EVO 4G: The EVO 4G is the phone most frequently pitted up against Apple's new iPhone 4 (hint: the EVO wins), so it's no surprise that it's on the confirmed guest list for the latest and greatest Android release. The EVO should get Froyo sometime in the next six months.
MyTouch 3G and MyTouch 3G Slide: The entire MyTouch line of phones on T-Mobile is expected to see Froyo before the end of 2010.
HTC Desire: It's not yet available in the States, but this desirable HTC handset is on-tap to get the Android 2.2 upgrade sometime in the next six months as well.
I might have missed something, but how do we get flash working on the new 2.2 emulator? The sites I've tried don't work (eg BBC), and when trying to go to flash install site, i get rerouted to a market url for com.adobe.flashplayer (which obviously won't work on an emulator). So is flash being delivered as a market app? And if so how do we get it on an emulator.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to have flash player if theres another way let me know .
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe are exploring the default applications in Froyo and we found out that the Camera app always crashes seconds after it loads.
Is this related to the no camera/video input limitation of the application? If not, what seems to be the problem? We already added all the additional properties to the AVD. We also disabled the auto-rotate screen option.
I got new SDK today, and test my program on emulator. However, I can't open Mic on 2.2 emulator, it's work on earlier emulator, my code list below.new Audio Record(Audio Source.MIC, 16000, AudioFormat.CHANNEL_CONFIGURATION_MONO,Format.ENCODING_PCM_16BIT, iMinSize); And I got log below. ERROR/Audio Record(878): Could not get audio input for record source 1 ERROR/Audio Record-JNI(878): Error creating Audio Record instance: initialization check failed. ERROR/Audio Record-Java(878): [ android.media.AudioRecord ] Error code -20 when initializing native Audio Record object.

View 13 Replies View RelatedI was trying to use some of the new camera methods included in Froyo, i.e. setPreviewCallbackWithBuffer() & addCallbackBuffer(). In the documentation it's said you need first to create a buffer of appropriated size and use the addCallbackBuffer() method. The buffer size must be width * height * bits_per_pixel or otherwise you'll never receive a preview frame. To know the image size, you can ask to the camera about it's configuration. When I'm trying to configured the camera I use Camera.getParameters().getPreviewSize() the emulator says the size is 320*240, but with that size it didn't work on emulator. I used the old setPreviewCallback() and, in the onPreviewFrame(), I asked the size again. That time the size was 480*320. Then I hard- coded that values in the first code and everything worked. Now I'm afraid not only the emulator would have that behavior. Unfortunately I don't have any real device with Froyo and I can't try it. So, anyone have tried that methods in real devices? btw, are they really increasing the poor performance and frame rate?
View 2 Replies View RelatedThe Emulator's camera worked fine for taking pictures in 2.1 Eclair. What did not work was recording videos, obviously.
Now running an app which worked merely flawless on 2.1 Emulator causes the camera app to crash. I fire up an intent to launch it:
CODE:...................
This starts the camera app but after a few seconds it crashes.
The output is:
CODE:.................
Actually I just wanted to see if the bug which made you receive a small image from the camera even though EXTRA_OUTPUT was specified has been fixed in FroYo. Unfortunately, I don't even get to test it.
I just did a hard reset on my phone but it seems as if the bootup screen ((Freshhhh logo) still come up every time I restart the phone. I also have problems installing 2.2 OTA from HTC.

View 28 Replies View RelatedMy Desire was crashing, so I requested a replacement with O2 business. I upgraded to 2.2 last week using the software update link on the phone. Today I received my 'new' handset from O2 which still has 2.1-update1 as the firmware version. When I tried to upgrade I was informed there is no newer version. Spoke to O2 business, who told me that HTC had withdrawn it again. I'm kinda pleased that my 2.2 desire has been sent back, if there are serious enough issues with Froyo for it to be withdrawn. I did like a couple of things extra in the menu structures, but is it really that important?
View 29 Replies View RelatedGot my Desire just under a months ago. Had to return it for endless restarting & freezing 2 days ago. Got an unbranded replacement. Just did the O2 OTA upgrade and I notice I have no Market app. (I may be missing other things also, I don't know, since I'm a fairly new user).
View 6 Replies View RelatedI got my "dinc" in early August with 2.1 onboard and recieved the OTA froyo upgrade about two weeks ago. I like 2.2 (I think) but not all the battery-vampire crap-apps that came with it. I desparately want to root so that I can explore the full potential of this phone and hopefully find some options to extend my battery and get rid of the bloatware.
Unrevoked's website says v3.2 has been temporarily pulled and to use v2.2 "in the meantime". I've tried several of the methods that call for 3.2 using 2.2 and it seems to work up to the reboot step towards the end. Each time I get this "failed to flash recovery image" message. I've followed every detail of several videos and posts (including one from this forum) instructing how to root with Unrevoked, but the end result is always the same.
1. Can I use Unrevoked to root my phone with the froyo upgrade in place?
2. If so, how? Because what I've been trying ain't gettin' it done.
3. If not, is there a way to roll-back to 2.1 so that I can use Unrevoked?
4. Could the 2.2 version of Unrevoked be casuing my "failed flash" issue?

View 15 Replies View RelatedSo I upgraded to Froyo last night. Very nice update, amazing how fast this new version of android is. Along with some of the enhancements already mentioned, it seems the stock keyboard is much more accurate and I find my self not deleting so many letters.
View 2 Replies View RelatedReceived the upgrade from Telstra Australia today for my Desire. I'm not very good with the tech and software side of things (quite a dunce really) and have looked for a guide as to what to do prior to installing the update and also once completed. Is anyone able to steer me in the right direction as to where a good guide is or maybe a few pointers. My phone isn't rooted and is not something I want to gamble with being not techsavvy.

View 7 Replies View RelatedOn dutch forums i red that you have to go to a samsung service point to upgrade your SGS to android 2.2 froyo. Is this true or are they all wrong... because i thought it would be OTA?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm probably in the same situation as many SGS owners, i.e. installed the one click LAG fix to overcome the issues with 2.1. As 2.2 is due out (in the UK) probably sometime in the next few weeks, can someone more technical advise if the LAG fix should be removed and the phone unrooted before the official upgrade. Additionally, is there any benefit moving up to 2.2 other than Flash? I haven't had any real issues with the phone other than the initial LAG. I'm on Orange UK, but I don't suppose that really matters?
View 7 Replies View Relatedhow to go back to stock so they can get the official froyo rom. Why exactly?
- you may never be able to root again
- stock froyo apps2sd is very bad comparedto rooted a2sd+
- rooted roms based on the stock froyo rom will be faster and more stable than stock
It might be a noob question, but if you have rooted epic 4g, will it upgrade to froyo with no issues? Do i need to reset to default 2.1 again then upgrade?I know froyo coming soon but wanted to be ready for it.
