HTC Desire :: No Initial File Structure On SD / How To Set Music As Ringtone?
Jul 23, 2010
Added music to SD card (I accidentally formatted so initial file structure was gone). I created a Music folder and dumped some MP3s in there. Now I can play them through music player, view them in Astro File Manager, but they are not available to select for phone ringtone.

My SD card on my droid x went bad so the verizon store gave me a new one but it seems they formatted it for a blackberry hence I see blackberry folders in there Can someone tell me the file/folder structure for Android 2.2? Once I format and clean it up, what are the directories I should be creating? If there's a link that describes it, that would even be better..

My fiance upgraded from LG Voyager to Droid 2. She wanted her old ringtones from the Verizon Media store so she downloaded them. When she stored them they were given default names. I was able to make the appropriate ringtone associations, except for voicemail. I have 2 questions:
1. How do you set a ringtone for voicemail? When I run the standard voicemail app (Verizon) I cannot being up a menu.
2. How do I change the name of a ringtone file?

I just bought an unlocked HTC Desire from Hong Kong. I haven't put a sim card in it yet as I'm waiting for my old plan to live out its contract, but I couldn't resist having a play with the Desire in the mean time Because I bought it from overseas I can only seem to set my default language as English and then in brackets many Asian country options, eg English (Thailand) and English (Singapore). This would be fine except it is becoming frustrating when typing because all of the predictive text etc has many Asian characters in it and I'm struggling to write accurately.I've tried turning off predictive text and 'check invalid sequence', but it doesnt seem to work? I also tried downloading the application 'more locale 2' which had english (australian) but it doesnt seem to affect the keyboard. Does anyone have any advice regarding how to change the initial language setting? Is there any chance that when I put an Australian sim card into it the language options will change?

From the UK and an Orange customer. I am sick of the Orange setting to go to one of their (O2 mobile Internet only) web page for when I start the default browser. How can I change this? I tried homepage for google and 'home' goes to google but just starting the prog from the icon/widget still tries (and fails when on WiFi) to go to orange.

I listen to music whilst commuting on a bike and whilst out riding a MTB, I have a pair of HTC headphones with in-line controls to make switching tracks easy but am infuriated by the music apps available.
I also have the Audiobooks app installed and despite many attempts I am unable to get any music app to ignore the file containing audiobook chapters.
As a result varied pieces of audiobooks get mixed up with the music tracks, I have tried using Median, Double Twist, 3Cubed and the standard player, non allow me to just select single folders containing MP3 files and they don't all recognise the in-line phones.
Are all music apps so amateurish or is there a really good one out there which I have not yet found.
Phone is a HTC Desire.

I have connected my HTC Desire to a samba share where I have my music, movies, etc, but I cannot make Desire play any of the mp3, movies, and I cannot see any photos either? I am using Astro File Manager.
I get no kind of error messages just a black screen with a little icon (which I don't remember right now.) Anyone got an idea of what could be wrong?

I trimmed some ringtones for a few contacts, but sometimes the ringtones just change to some other music by itself (music from my music player) and it happened a few times already. And I didn't find a pattern of why and when it will change by itself. It didn't change to the default ringtone, it just change to some random music, and it happened to my Alarm ringtone also. Any idea what's wrong?

I want to change my ringtone to a song I've installed on my phone. But no songs appear when I select the music drop down under settings > sound > phone ringtone > select music. From there I have 2 options, system ringtone, (which is redundant from the previous screen), and music. When I select music I only have selection: "Facebook Pop" which is a tiny pop not event listed as a music and generally useless. Before 2.2 I had no issue.

Can anyone recommend a good app that will open up music as a ringtone? On my old Droid, I had Handcent and that opened it up. However, on my X, I actually kind of like the stock messaging app, so can anyone recommend an app that will do this?

I am a newbie android phone user (formerly a BB user) and new to this site so forgive me if this has been asked before. I have the Samsung epic and downloaded music to listen to with my headphones. While listening to music, I tested calling my phone and the music changed and began playing my music ringtone. I also noticed that my "ringtone" was playing outloud also. Here is my question.... is there a better setting I can set so that my phone doesn't play my ringtone out loud when I am listening with my headphones. With how it is currently set, I can see it disturbing other people around my while in a coffee shop, the gym, etc. Thanks for any help!

So I could easily do this with my other Captivate before I traded in for a new one (last one was defective, thats a different story) they are both rooted. The thing is I can't remember how I set my song as my ringtone. It is a full song and I easily set it as my ringtone. I didn't put it in a custom "ringtones" folder or anything.

I'm trying to create custom ringtones from the music files on my Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.4.2 (CM 11 build date 09-Jan-2014). Most, if not all, of my music is in M4A format, so I made sure the ringtone makers I've tried support that format.
The apps play the music files just fine, but when I try to open any file for editing, no matter what app I use, I get "Error reading file" or a variation thereof. The files were transferred from my Windows 8.1 computer to my phone via Winamp (USB, not wifi).
how to resolve this, short of wiping all the music and transferring WAV or MP3 files?

I have a problem setting a ringtone from a resource in my app:
Uri uri = Uri.parse("android.resource://com.package.app/" + R.raw.sound1); RingtoneManager.setActualDefaultRingtoneUri(this, RingtoneManager.TYPE_RINGTONE, uri);
I've noticed also some people had the same problem but got no answers. Do any of you guys have any idea of how making this work? (without having to copy the file to the sdcard)
