Android :: Got G1 To Get/send Mail From MS Exchange 07
Feb 11, 2009My IT got it to work anyway. Not sure how he did it, but it took awhile.
Anyone else get it to work?
The email interface kinda sucks, but it works without an app.

I have a brand new Desire HD. Up until 2 days ago, everything was working perfectly with my Outlook Exchange Account on the native Android Mail application. Running Android 2.2
Since then, there is something wrong with our Outlook certificate, and when I launch Outlook on my PC, I get a message that the name on the certificate is not valid. Ok, fine. So on the PC, I press "OK" and I am off and running.
On the Desire, I still get email, but if I try to SEND and email, it neither reaches the recipient, nor does the email end up in the "Sent" mail folder. When I go to "Accounts and Sync" and look at the Exchange account, I also see that i have a sync protocol error on Contacts syncing.
Now, I have installed Touchdown, and I CAN send email from here. Also, I have a friend who has an older Android phone that does not seem to be affected in a similar fashion connecting to the same exchange server.
Problem: The Touchdown app is kind of a pain from a user interface standpoint when you try to edit a contact. and it costs $20. And, I really prefer the native Mail widgets and stuff.
I am stuck using Touchdown at the moment so that I can send and receive emails, but I am hoping to find a workaround. Our IT people are working on the certificate problem, so maybe that will help. HOWEVER, I cannot afford to be without email every time there is a certificate problem.
I want to send an e-mail, and so I use the typical intent --
CODE:...........................
When I do this, the chooser comes up and gives all kinds of choices, for anything that can handle text/plain i assume, because there's stuff in there that doesn't support "e-mail". How can I make it so that it will only show applications that support email (gmail, mail, yahoo mail, etc...) and not stuff like "Bluetooth", "Facebook", etc...
Is there an app for my Droid X that will allow me to send mail with my alias?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to get my head around setting up email from Exchange 2003 SP2 in Android 2.1 (HTC Desire) but have some issues which point to lack of understanding (or faulty wetware). I wondered if anyone could help me out with this?
I can connect to our exchange server while I am in range of our internal WiFi hotspots. But as soon as I turn off WiFi or exit the building the connection fails. I am struggling to understand how this works when you are not near an internal WiFi spot. We use blackberry devices and they can get mail from anywhere in the world so how does the Android equivalent work?
There are a good many suggestions that you point your connection to whatever you use for OWA, but we do not expose our Exchange server to the outside world directly, but rather via a Juniper box. What I don't understand is that is the Blackberry users can connect using an internal BES server - so this has to work.
This was the most horrible thing ever on the Pre but luckily a simple patch disabled it. Now I got an EVO and 1and1.com pin lock is back. I can't stand this. How do I bypass it like I did with the Pre?

Outlook.com is my exchange server, i think. It always works when i enter it as the server with the default email app on android. I can send emails though. configuring exchange for k9 is such a pain!
Anyone know what this means?
Main reason I want to use k9 is so i can save attachements...so if anyone knows a better email app that supports exchange (not touchdown) or a way to download attachments with default email app.. that would be nice.
You guys with a separate exchange work email and personal gmail account. Do you have to setup the exchange mail on HTCs mail app and gmail separate on the gmail app?

I had no problem connecting my work e-mail to the Motorola Droid but when I try to connect it with the HTC Incredible it doesn't work. I am using all the same information as the Motorola, so I'm not sure what the issue is. Has anyone else experienced this issue with the Incredible?
View 4 Replies View RelatedHere's my issue: Came from a windows mobile phone. However, one area winmo is obviously good at is exchange support. Here's what I mean:
I regularly receive and forward large attachments (PDFS - usually 10 megs or so), and the winmo phone made it easy to do so when out of the office. I'd just hit forward and away it would go. The phone would tell the exchange server to forward the mail, and it was done. The phone never actually downloaded any attachments to forward, unless of course I wanted to download it for viewing.
I've found this phone instead of just telling the exchange server to forward the message actually has to download the attachment, then resend the attachment. This is stupidity in it's fullest when working with a 10 meg attachment. Instead of taking a split second to forward something it'll take minutes to download, then minutes to upload, and obviously shorten battery life considerably. So my question is - am I missing settings, or is the installed mail application not able to do so - and are there any android mail applications that will forward attachments off an exchange server without actually downloading the attachment first?
I wants to create a Email client with Exchange &/or Lotus Domino mail server. if possible then provide some code so that I can read and implement as own requirement, other wise at least how to implement.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have the option if I want to convert my main mail account to an Exchange account or keep it as an IMAP account. So far I have the phone setup with my IMAP and it's pretty decent, messages appear as unread if I've read them on another computer, I can switch to different folders I've setup, etc. The only thing is that it checks mail every 15 minutes (i could change it to 10 but the polling technique is still used). Is Exchange ActiveSync any better in Android or is it buggy? I'll switch if the push email really is instant and non buggy.
View 42 Replies View RelatedI just got the EVO i synched my mail, and everytime i get a new email, i am not kidding it takes almost one minute for the email to display. everything takes an insane amount of time in this program. everything else is speedy and fine but the mail program.
Gmail comes in and can be read quickly and easily but not the Activesync Exchange Mail.
Anyone else experience this same problem and if so is there a solution for this?
If the email is downloaded already how come it takes so long to open or reply to an email?
Anyway majority of time i press another button, everything freezes and then i get that non responding warning asking if i want to wait or force quit.
I am having trouble deleting the "trash" in the exchange e-mail account. Does anyone know how to do this other than checking each individual message and clicking on the delete? Is there a delete all type action?

Can I get that with the 3rd party restrictions that ATT has on the android market? If so I remember reading about a work around but can't remember what it was.

I know that I can use the gmail app with my gmail account. I am already going to sync the calendar and contacts.
If I choose to use the HTC Mail app for my gmail (setup as exchange), do I need to set gmail (when logged in on the web interface) as IMAP? I know to use the m.google.com as the exchange server.
I know this is the Droid forum but it has a lot of activity and I'm using the Droid, so I figured I would ask here. I am trying to get K-9 Mail set up for MS Exchange. I got it set up with the built in Email client with no problem, but really like K-9 better. It always fails on the outgoing settings screen. Incoming sets up fine, but the outgoing fails no matter what I try. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy company only allows mobile access to corporate e-mail through WIndows phone. As an Android advocate, i prefer my own mobile device.
My only two choices are to access through my Android Chrome browser or find a way to make my Jelly-bean Android mail app look like it is a Windows phone. ...or a 3rd part mail app that looks like a Windows/windows phone mail client
I prefer the mail client route as it keeps in sync with updates.
I have a problem getting the mail application for Exchange to work. I read through several threads and got to install Touchdown. Strange thing is that this app works fine and the mails from the Exchange server are sent perfectly to the HTC Desire. What is even more strange is that a colleague of mine has exactly the same Desire and is on the same Exchange server as I am and for him, the Mail application for Exchange works perfectly. I really want to use the standard mail application. I saw there is an option in Touchdown 'Fetch and trust certificate' which is not available in Mail for Exchange. I already tried to logon to the webmail via a browser but this did not seem to help.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am currently roaming outside my home network in the UK and cannot get Exchange Server to automatically synch. I have read countless posts on this forum and elsewhere trying to self-help before posting, but despite this one appearing to be the same issue, I have been unable to fix it.
In essence when opening Menu > Settings > Accounts & Synch > Manage Accounts / Exchange Active Sync > Account Settings I see that the option for "Sync when roaming" is not only unticked but also greyed out so I cannot enable it.
How can I fix this, please?
Note that Menu > Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks > Data roaming is ticked and so is ... > Enable always-on mobile data.
I am currently on an Edge network and manual Exchange Synch works just fine but having automatic sync is more important right now that worrying about the roaming charge.
Is there a way to only set push e-mail for the Inbox folder? When I set up push e-mail for my Exchange server it wants to download the mail in all of my folders. That is over 2,000 messages.
