Android :: Automatic Correction Of Spelling?
Nov 9, 2010Whenever I text and I go to type 'yo' it automatically corrects it to 'to'. I'm guessing I set this by accident at first. How do I reset this?

HTC Desire :: Spelling Auto-correction
Jul 25, 2010On my old Blackberry I could programme the dictionary to change certain letter combos in to the correct words. Kind of like - "helo" > "hello".
As this was user programmable, it was also useful for including things like - "hl" > "hello mate".
On to my point. I write " I'll " a lot but get annoyed sticking the apostrophe in. If I write it without the apostrophe, it's just the word "ill" so it doesn't change it to "i'll". On my Blackberry I made "il" become "I'll".
Or, if I type " il " and keep selecting " I'll " from the suggested spellings, will the dictionary eventually change its default suggestion?
Android :: Disabling Spelling Suggestions In EditText
Sep 8, 2009I've got an EditText that I don't want spelling suggestions for since it's just a user name input field.
I've tried setting autoText to be "false" but when I start typing in the EditText with the soft keyboard I am still provided with spelling suggestions. I've also tried setting inputType to be "none" however that doesn't help either.
What's the correct way to disable this functionality (in XML or in code) so that no spelling suggestions are provided?
Android :: Swiftkey Keyboard - Correct Spelling But Not Fill With Suggested Words
Oct 11, 2010I've downloaded the Swiftkey Keyboard and like it a lot but am a bit frustrated by the autocomplete concept they use. I guess there should be two options: autocorrect spelling mistakes I make and another option for autocompleting words I am trying to type. Too often I find that Swiftkey's "predicted" word option based on what I type is so far off that I end up sending a nonsensical message to people.

Dec 30, 2009The default HTC Weather app isn't working today after I restarted my phone after a test.
The Current location 1/2 says Albuquerque, New Mexico. It says "No weather data available"
The 2/2 entry I programed is Albuquerque, NM and that works.
I just added a 3rd Dallas, TX and that works.
Something is odd. It's using the long spelled out state name for the Current location and that doesn't seem to be found in the Weather server when it checks. Just the 2 letter state names seem to work.

Sep 13, 2010Now I found one very curious issue, If I can access internet (WIFI, 3G), and change date/time 2010 year to 2011 year, after while, system automaticlly update my date/time 2011 to 2010 year. In fact I had disable the "automatic update date/time" function in setting.

Android :: EditText Without Auto-correction
Sep 26, 2010My EditText needs to accept input consisting of partial words, names, etc. At least on my HTC Desire, this is difficult since the keyboard wants to suggest and/or correct some entries (e.g., changes "gor" to "for"). I tried setting textNoSuggestions on the view, but that doesn't fix it.

Nov 12, 2010I posted this a few days ago but nobody can solve it and I know there must be a way. My problem is that whenever I go to type 'Yo' in a text, it automatically corrects it to 'To'. I'm guessing that I corrected this myself a while ago and now it has it saved. I already tried adding 'Yo' to my user dictionary but the problem persists. Is there really no way to change the default correction of a word?

Nov 3, 2010This is a confirmed fix for the long lag time (5+ minutes) to reconnect after losing a 4G signal.
Those of us using a rom with the newest software 1.47.651.1 have been having issues with the 4G connection not reconnecting when losing 4G signal. These instructions fix this problem.
Requirements:
Your MSL code (See Here: [How To] Retrieve MSL CDMA Workshop Method - xda-developers)
Instructions:
Turn OFF your 4G radio if it is turned on!
1) Click on phone and dial ##DATA# (##3282#)
2) Click on "Edit Mode"
3) Type in your MSL code (see above if you don't have it yet)
4) Click on the menu entry "WiMAX"
5) Scroll down the list and click on "WiMAX_Scan_Retry(s)"
6) Enter the number 15 and click "OK" (This equals 15 seconds instead of 300 seconds)
7) Scroll down the list and click on "WiMAX_Entry_Delay(s)"
8) Enter the number 0 and click "OK" (This equals 0 seconds instead of 300 seconds)
9) Press the "Menu" key and click on "Commit Modifications"
10) Grab a cup of coffee, get a bite to eat, or sit back and wait for your EVO to restart
Testing:
1) Go to your phone's settings and click on "Wireless & networks"
2) Scroll down and click on 4G settings
3) Click on 4G to turn it on and wait for the status to change to "Connected to Sprint"
4) Without touching any of the menu items, cover the top half of your phone with your hands until the status changes to "Scanning..."
5) Uncover the top of the phone and count the seconds until it says "Connecting to Sprint"
6) Realize that you no longer have to cycle the 4G radio to reconnect
Result:
After modifying my EVO and my girlfriend's EVO and inputting these changes, the phone will reconnect to the 4G tower in as little as 20 seconds!
Yes, 20 seconds, the most I have seen so far is 30 seconds after dropping the connection. This is a HUGE improvement over the 5+ minutes to reconnect (300+ seconds).

Dec 1, 2009what exactly does the Spell Correction feature do? I realized today that I had it disabled all this time. I tried typing with Spell Correction enabled but haven't noticed any difference. The user manual explains the settings like this:
Prediction Select to enable the word prediction feature which provides a list of possible words that reflect the characters of the keys you have tapped as well as characters of nearby keys.
Spell correction Select to correct typographical errors by selecting from a list of possible words that reflect the characters of the keys you have tapped as well as characters
of nearby keys. ...but the keyboard seems to me to function exactly the same with or without spell correction enabled.

Dec 9, 2009I have a Droid Eris and have the spell correction turned on. I noticed that when I type a word that isn't already in the phone's memory, it says that it's saving it. For example when I type, "I'll be there @ 3:30" it auto corrects to, "I'll be there@ 3:30."
It does this with the @, &, ", - , and I am sure others. I end up having to delete the symbol, add the space again, then type the symbol.

It activated somesort of word-guessing-system. I'm sorry, I don't even understand what it is. But basically it will popup a small bar where it asks to Add word? or something. I thought its spellchecker or something like that.. Anyway, I don't remember what i pressed and there is no option in MSN for it. Using Windows Mobile 6.5 Pro.

Mar 15, 2014I am an android user, using sony xperia z with 4.3. I have problem about the google voice (GV for now) and keyboard, im not the same as everybody with missing GVT or wanting to disable it, i actually like it a lot, especially because it support my language (not english).
using voice input is easy:
1. i press the GV icon
2. i talk
3. text coming out, there will be miss typed/heard sentences
4. you know, if the system doubt your speech and want to correct it, you just tap the word with grey underline,it indicating that it have multiple option
5. then you choose the correct sentences
My step number 4 is a problem, because the correction that pop up to correcting/delete sentences is being blocked by keyboard, that is why i say it also a keyboard problem. so i cannot choose anything from it. and i have this problem since 4.2.2, the first day i upgraded it to 4.3 is okay, but suddenly it happen again. i don't think i will resetting or formatting because i have a lot of app and chat history that i cannot delete.

Nov 26, 2009When I run any application from Eclipse on my real G1 device (a retail one, this is not a dev phone), I am granted the READ_PHONE_STATE and WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE even if i don't declare them in the AndroidManisfest.xml. I actually can call TelephonyManager.getDeviceID () to retrieve the IMEI and I see these permissions in Settings -> Applications. I don't have this behavior in the emulator. Does anyone have the same "problem"?
