Android :: Why To Exchange Password Every Six Weeks
Sep 15, 2010
In our exchange environment our users are required to change their passwords every six weeks. If they use Droids to get their email will they have to change the password in the account settings every time they change their password? Is there any way around this other than making their passwords never expire?

I am running 2.1 v2 on my Droid Eris and I set up my work email (exchange) through Activesync.
Now every time the lock screen appears I can't open it up without a password. I want this turned off. I have read elsewhere that you can install apps that overcome the lock. However, I am exploring other ways to work around this. Does anyone else have experience with this? I would like to not have to enter the password in every time the phone screen locks. I also don't necessarily want an app running in the background either.

In Android 2.2 site (link text
it's written:Improved security with the addition of numeric pin or alpha-numeric password options to unlock device. Exchange administrators can enforce password policy across devices But while I'm using N1 with 2.2 and try to connect to my company exchange server it didn't enforce me to set a password, although connecting to the same server from Windows Mobile 6 device enforce this.I know that exchange server is configured to enforce password. Is there anything special the administrator need to do?

I have an Exchange account that requires a password; with the newest firmware update as of June 29, that works fine. However, when I input my password on the unlock screen, it shows it in plaintext and doesn't mask it as I enter each letter as most phones do. Under the Security settings, I do not have "Visible passwords" checked, so the password shouldn't show, but it does.

I've had my Captivate synced to my work and school exchange server for about two months now. This morning, I had to change my work exchange password. However, on my phone....when I into Account Settings>Incoming Settings and try to change the password. I get "Two exchange accounts allowed". It seems it thinks I'm trying to setup a third account rather than change the password to the existing account.
How do I change the password? (I've thought about deleting the account....but my fear is that it will create another instance of calendar and contacts. which happened once before, also annoying...if anyone knows how to get rid of the old duplicated calendars.)

I am trying to remove an Exchange account from my DI. When I go to delete the account, it asks me for a password.
I have entered the password/PIN I use to unlock the phone. No good. I have entered the password I use to access the Exchange server. No good.
I have no freaking idea what password the phone is asking me for. Right now it seems my only option is maser reset of the phone, re-install everything...

I want to use widget locker, but my company forces a password and mandatory device locking. So currently when I unlock my phone with widget locker I have to do it again for the system password. Is there a way to make widget locker unlock both?

Two quick questions that will help me decide between Native Exchange and Touchdown (or possibly another app all together):
1) Is there a way to override the password requirement for Native Exchange? I'd prefer to not have to enter a p/w every time my phone locks.
2)Is anyone else having issues with Touchdown not rendering their messages properly? Mine are cut off even with the smallest font setting and I cannot side scroll to see the rest of the message. Also as I scroll down into the threaded messages the screen above goes white.

does anyone know where the setting is to change your exchange password / pin that is required by IT teams at most large corporations? I've been in to Email > Account Settings, and also to the general Home > Settings and can't find it anywhere.I set it up the first time I set up the account on the phone, but can't find anywhere to change it or to change the duration in which the pin should be input (every thirty-minutes, hour, etc.).

D1, rooted w/ Lithium mod. Just a few weeks ago I was using pdanet without a problem. Today I tried and it says that secure sites require me to pay to use the service. Did something change? I have version 2.42. If there is still a free version please send me the link because I can't find it.
I am connected to my hotel's wireless but do not have a wireless card so I can't use it. I tried using the tether in Lithium mod, but that doesn't work. Suggestions?

I just my G1 phone and soon discovered that the calendar app does not seem to have a way to create a "repeating" entry for every other week like my old Verizon Windows Mobile phone did.
Does anyone know of a way to do this, or is there another Calendar app I could get that allows more flexible "repeat" entries?

I have had this same problem happen twice to me on 2 different phones on 2 different Verizon accounts!
The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?

I was told several times during Sprint Chat session that I could go into a Sprint Store 2 weeks before my 7/1/2010 upgrade date and get my upgrade on an EVO. So I got put on a waiting list and my phone came in a week before 7/1 but they said there was no way they would do it even if I was told during a sprint chat session that I could. Was the agent on Sprint Chat who told me I could just a complete idiot?

SamsungUSA twitter account, in response to "Is the epic going to be released before the end of august? Cant wait much longer": "We don't have a final date but we know it's a matter of weeks "(source: Samsung USA (Samsungtweets) on Twitter)
If 'weeks' is at least 2, that blows an Aug 11th, and Aug 20th release out of the water, and seriously endangers an August release at all. That's extremely disappointing, especially since I was hoping to switch from my Evo to the Epic in time for my 30 day trial.

I am unsure how many Android fans would be interested in this, but I've built a blog dedicated to digital sales data, which includes info for Android titles. I've published a bit of Android info so far, but I thought that some may be interested in this title, since 50,000 units downloaded is certainly a record for the platform.

I'm new to android but just used the guides at this forum to root my LG Optimus V. I was wondering if now that I have root there is a way to install a boot password similar to the one I have on my computer. Before it loads the operating system, the BIOS asks for a password. Is there any similar functionality for android?
Also, is this possible on other devices even if it is not on mine? It's one of my favorite laymen security measures.

Being a linux user, I don't entirely understand why root access is completely unprotected. Type su and it elevates rights. Now I can understand why everyone is so touchy about rooting with new users. Is the reason for it that certain scripts or programs need to occasionally run as root? If not, is there a way to place a password on root access? I'm sort of thinking out loud here, so feel free to post your thoughts.

Is there any apps out there that let me select a few photos and have those locked somewhere else and the only way to access them is via a password? I have astro is there anyway to do it with this? I don't have any other files or apps that I want password protected. I have a Droid Incredible.
