Android :: Picture Password App?
Nov 27, 2010
I have some pictures on my phone that I don't want others to see when they are browsing thru my gallery. Is there any apps out there that let me select a few photos and have those locked somewhere else and the only way to access them is via a password? I have astro is there anyway to do it with this? I don't have any other files or apps that I want password protected. I have a Droid Incredible.

I have had this same problem happen twice to me on 2 different phones on 2 different Verizon accounts!
The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?

I'm new to android but just used the guides at this forum to root my LG Optimus V. I was wondering if now that I have root there is a way to install a boot password similar to the one I have on my computer. Before it loads the operating system, the BIOS asks for a password. Is there any similar functionality for android?
Also, is this possible on other devices even if it is not on mine? It's one of my favorite laymen security measures.

I use the backgrounds app, and it lets me save backgrounds to my SD card. I go into Astro/ sdcard/ backgrounds and then click on the picture. It gives me 2 options to open it. "ASTRO Image Viewer" and "View picture". For me to use it as a background I have to pull it up in "View picture", BUT....no matter how many times I try and pull it up that way, it shows me the first picture in my camera album. If I click "ASTRO Image Viewer", I can always see the picture I selected, but under menu, I only have the option to "share" and nothing else. Can you tell me why the selected picture won't show up in "View picture"?

I posted this question sort of embedded in the "show us your Droid X screen" but I think it got buried with all the "what is that widget?" questions.I see on some screens the picture widget picture is big. Mine is only about 1 inch by 1/2 inch.I can barely even get 1/2 a face in the picture.How do you get a bigger picture?I'm running LauncherPro, is that effecting it?Since I couldn't get a bigger picture, I decided to try and add the slide show widget. But when I try, it says Widget Conflict only one photo slideshow per home screen. I don't have any other slideshow widgets on my screen. Any ideas?

Being a linux user, I don't entirely understand why root access is completely unprotected. Type su and it elevates rights. Now I can understand why everyone is so touchy about rooting with new users. Is the reason for it that certain scripts or programs need to occasionally run as root? If not, is there a way to place a password on root access? I'm sort of thinking out loud here, so feel free to post your thoughts.

I recently(yesterday) set my blacklist password for Handscent SMS. Well I know without a doubt what the password is supposed to be but I can't get into the Blacklist becuase my password isn't matching. I'm worried that I may have accidentally clicked the wrong letter (twice) and the Auto-correct feature automatically set the password differently. (Why do they have auto-correct on passwords?

If I want to store the username and password to be used inside an Android application, what is the best way to do it? Is it through the preferences screen (but what if the user misses this?), or pop up a dialog box and ask the user for the credentials? If so, I do have to maintain state for the application. How would I do this?

First, sorry for my "english". And then, is possible to lock the access to a file with a password? For example, if you have some documents, pictures, etc., in the phone memory and don't want to be opened by someone who takes your phone. I'm interesting to know if API give me the possibility to implement these feature.
