I have an Exchange account that requires a password; with the newest firmware update as of June 29, that works fine. However, when I input my password on the unlock screen, it shows it in plaintext and doesn't mask it as I enter each letter as most phones do. Under the Security settings, I do not have "Visible passwords" checked, so the password shouldn't show, but it does.

Is there an app to unlock my HTC Incredible by either voice OR alpha/numeric? For example in a crowded area I might want to type it, but if I'm alone in my car rather than typing I might want to just speak it out loud.

I forgot my numeric password to my phone. I do not get the option to put in my gmail user id and password, and i dont know how i would reset my password! (have tried over 100 times and I do not get the option to use gmail user id and password.

How can i shut off the password to unlock the phone. With 1.5 the patter wasn't as annoying as having to type a password every time my phone sleeps and then i want to do something and have to type a password every time.

When I bought the incredible, the Verizon sales rep told me I could use my gmail password to lock/unlock the phone. I haven't been able to find this option anywhere, though. Is it possible to do that?

If they use Droids to get their email will they have to change the password in the account settings every time they change their password? Is there any way around this other than making their passwords never expire?

So a friend of mine did too many wrong patterns and the phone is asking for my username and password. When i fill in my login and password, it says "invalid username or password". I tried it like 20 times.I have of course verified the username and password on my gmail, and it works fine. Has this ever happened to anyone ? Is there a way around it ? I refuse to reset my phone to factory settings, i have all my contacts, and important notes in there.I was really looking forward to android, but stuff like this is just unacceptable, really disappointing.

I have been debating whether or not its a waste of my time b/c even if I get my phone stolen I'm not getting it back. My friends that use my phone can't go through my personal stuff b/c I have a file locker. Now every time the lock screen appears I can't open it up without a password. I want this turned off. I have read elsewhere that you can install apps that overcome the lock. However, I am exploring other ways to work around this. Does anyone else have experience with this? I would like to not have to enter the password in every time the phone screen locks. I also don't necessarily want an app running in the background either.
I've had my Captivate synced to my work and school exchange server for about two months now. This morning, I had to change my work exchange password. However, on my phone....when I into Account Settings>Incoming Settings and try to change the password. I get "Two exchange accounts allowed". It seems it thinks I'm trying to setup a third account rather than change the password to the existing account.
How do I change the password? (I've thought about deleting the account....but my fear is that it will create another instance of calendar and contacts. which happened once before, also annoying...if anyone knows how to get rid of the old duplicated calendars.)

I just went from the HTC EVO to the Epic, and one thing i wanna find out. Is there any unlock pattern or password or anything for the Epic? They really need to update this phone with one because i can't lock my phone. People could just read my stuff whenever they want to or if im away from it. Its mostly pictures. View 12 Replies View RelatedI have just swapped from an iPhone 3G to the Desire and am getting stuck whilst familiarising myself with the phone (and making it similar to my iPhone). I have put an unlock password on the phone but it is a pain as it requires alpha and numeric so I want to go back to using the visual password. Problem is I cannot find how to get the phone to swap back to using a visual p/w. Anyone able to help Whilst here is there an app out there to wake up the phone when you press any key and/or have the iPhone keypad pop up to unblock the phone? Other than that it is an impressive bit of kit and better than the iPhone in many ways but flawed in some basic areas such as the pathetic speaker. It nearly went back when I first heard it and seems a surprising oversight given it is obviously aimed at the social end of the market.

1) Is there a way to override the password requirement for Native Exchange? I'd prefer to not have to enter a p/w every time my phone locks.
2)Is anyone else having issues with Touchdown not rendering their messages properly? Mine are cut off even with the smallest font setting and I cannot side scroll to see the rest of the message. Also as I scroll down into the threaded messages the screen above goes white.

BUT unfortunately he has lot of pictures and videos stored in the phone memory, not on SD, and he'd like not to lose all of it.
Is there a workaround for that? The Note is stock, but I can work on it, if there's a way to unlock the phone without losing data.

I have the HTC Desire with Android 2.1. I sync it with exchange, but it tells me I have to have a "phone unlock code" to sync with exchange. This more or less ruins the phone for me, as I have to type a password EVERY single time the screen locks (or go to standby). Only way I can see around it is forwarding all my exchange mail + syncing all my exchange contacts and my exchange calendar with g-mail, but that is a rather poor solution I think : I have g-mail sync running as well, and that does not require me to have a "unlock password" Does anyone know a way to get around this annoying "you must have an unlock code to sync with exchange" issue?

Right now I've enforced password requirements but that only allows pin based unlocks not pattern or face.
Are there any options to enable other types of unlock without removing security requirements at all within Exchange 2010?
I did the manual OTA update to 2.1 and once I re-setup my exchange account it enforced the security policy (no surprise there thank god for LockPicker!). The Pattern Unlock stayed as well. So I would have to pattern unlock THEN input the 4 digit alphanumeric (major PITA) So after installing lockpicker I only had to pattern unlock - no problem.
Well I've had the dreaded "no-audio" bug a couple times since upgrading so I decided to try a hard reset before pursuing a warranty replacement. This time I did the same thing, setup my Exchange account and installed LockPicker. Now I do NOT have the pattern unlock. Under Security -> Screen Unlock Pattern I only have "Change Unlock Password" and there doesn't appear to be any way to enable the Pattern unlock.
Here is where it gets interesting. My friend has an Eris as well, is on the same exchange server and got 2.1. He is in the same boat that I was PRE 2.1 upgrade where he has the pattern unlock AND the password (I hipped him to LockPicker) and is now where I was with only the Pattern Unlock. Under his Security -> Screen unlock it is the same as mine, with only "Change Unlock Password".
Now not have the pattern unlock is not the end of the world, I just liked having that small bit of security...just curious if anyone can find a way, short of another hard reset, to get Pattern Unlock back. I'm guessing that the issue is that I didn't enable pattern unlock before setting up Exchange and allowing it to enforce that security policy.
I have had this same problem happen twice to me on 2 different phones on 2 different Verizon accounts!
The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?
So this thing just started within the past week. My phone's stock gmail app will show new emails so I look at them and then they are all read, showing 0 new.But when I login to the web browser version, 5 minutes or even later(up to hours later), the web browser gmail is not updating to show that I already read the emails.I'm on JH2. So maybe it is a bug with the firmware?Or maybe a setting got changed but I'm not seeing how to handle the issue.
