HTC Droid Eris :: Password Screen Locks And When Asks For User Name And Password It States Invalid User Name / Password
Mar 3, 2010I have had this same problem happen twice to me on 2 different phones on 2 different Verizon accounts!
The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?

Aug 9, 2010How many of you guys actually use the pattern lock or password before you can use the phone. I have been debating whether or not its a waste of my time b/c even if I get my phone stolen I'm not getting it back. My friends that use my phone can't go through my personal stuff b/c I have a file locker. Even if I did have the pattern lock did anybody create a way to hack it and unlock it like they did with the iPhone?

I could not remember it and after several tries I decided to hit the "forgot password." It asked for my gmail account, and I do not remember creating one, after many tries, I gave up. Mar 12, 2010I've tried AutoLock and LockBot and maybe I didn't set an option correctly, but I can't seem to get a password or pattern unlock after a reboot/power off/on cycle.Both work fine during normal power on operations, but when I power cycle the phone it just comes up with the normal swipe unlock right into an open Eris with no password/pattern required. Kind of defeats the purpose by allow a bypass of the security.Maybe I'm missing something here or having a Homer moment.

Aug 9, 2010I have the phone in my pocket this evening, when i get home i get the 'too many pattern attempts' screen, and when i try to unlock using my google account, it fails even i use the right account and password because i can login to gmail from my laptop.What should i do now to get pass this on my phone. as stated above, i try my google account and a password? this works on my laptop, but x10 keeps telling me invalid user name or password. so i type 'null' as the password and it WORKS.

I was wondering if now that I have root there is a way to install a boot password similar to the one I have on my computer. Before it loads the operating system, the BIOS asks for a password. Is there any similar functionality for android?
Also, is this possible on other devices even if it is not on mine? It's one of my favorite laymen security measures.

Aug 8, 2010My daughter decided to try and get in my sons phone (Captivate) and ended up locking him out. The phone now says "Too Many Pattern Attempts" and is asking for his google user name and password but when he enters that information it says invalid user name or password. He knows that the google user name and password are correct as when he enters them in google mail on the computer it works fine. Any suggestions?

Jan 31, 2010Being a linux user, I don't entirely understand why root access is completely unprotected. Type su and it elevates rights. Now I can understand why everyone is so touchy about rooting with new users. Is the reason for it that certain scripts or programs need to occasionally run as root?
