If I uninstall an app without clearing the app's cache, will Android automatically delete the cache too when it uninstalls the app? Or is it best to manually delete the cache before uninstalling an app?

I have been searching but I couldn't find any app that allows me to delete (either programatically or in an easier way than deleting them one by one) several folders (or the files in them) from my Samsung S3350 (Android 4.1.2). I found Autoremove, but it only works for the Download folder. Before you mention it, no, they are not cache files and a cache cleaner will not be useful for me (I've already have one).

Anyone know how to delete shortcuts created with BetterCut? I can delete the ones on the screen (long press, drag to trash), but not those within the application itself. I created a ton of them just trying things out and now my 'edit shortcut' list is cluttered up.

I downloaded 2 "Home" applications for HTC Hero - dxTop and one more called "Home" (not sure what it is called on the market, but this is what my phone has registered it as).I wanted to uninstall both and dxTop went away fine. But this "Home" application does not show up on My Downloads or the application list under ES File Explorer. I can see it under Settings->Manage Applications, but I don't have an uninstall button. I have cleared the cache and stuff, but to no effect. I cannot even "Force Close" under Manage Applications.This app does not show up on Taskiller either. But I know its there, as every time I press the Home button, it asks me which Home I would like to go to.Its annoying. Is there a way to uninstall it?

I'm wondering where files that are created while running in a simulator are stored. I'm running the 1.5 simulator on Windows Vista. The real reason I want to find the files is because I am downloading an png file and trying to create a bitmap via:
Bitmap bitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeFile(iconFile.getAbsolutePath());
However, the bitmap is always null. I am able to create a bitmap successfully if I have the file as a resource.

I'm developing for the Android platform.
My app creates a temp file with a simple call to:
FileOutputStream fos = openFileOutput("MY_TEMP.TXT",Mode);
It works fine because I can write to it and read it normally.
The problem is that when I exit from the app I want to delete this file. I used:
File f = new File(System.getProperty("user.dir"),"MY_TEMP.TXT");
f.delete()
But it always returns false and the file is not deleted.
I have tried
File f = new File("MY_TEMP.TXT");
f.delete();
And it does not work either.

I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Within the system file /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi/ are about 17 little "emo_im_xxxxx.png" files that represent the little "green alien" emoticons that Android's stock SMS program inserts into text messages when certain text-based emoticons are input.
I want to delete these .png files so that the "green alien" emoticons no longer replace my standard text smilies. I don't care that others may not be able to see them. *I* don't want to see them, LOL. I've hated them since I got the HTC Droid Incredible two years ago, and I want them gone. I don't want to use a separate messaging app (Handcent, etc.). I like the stock app. I have Root Explorer, but the only option it gives me when I navigate and select these .png files is to "Extract" them.
I rooted my phone for the sole reason of being able to access/edit system files so I could get rid of these ugly little buggers, but have not had much luck after a full day of Googling, downloading, installing, uninstalling, packing, repacking, pushing, pulling and rebooting. There has got to be a simple solution to something that should honestly be built into the Android OS as a simple "auto-smilies on/off" toggle switch in settings.

I have a Samsung Galaxy ACE (GT-S5830i) which I have rooted but I am still on the stock rom/gingerbread 2.3.6
Today my phone said an update is available, so I connected to WiFi and downloaded the 30.14mb update, the update fails to install and I have now found out from searching that you cannot do a software update OTA once you are rooted, D'oh!!
So I now want to know how do I get rid of the 30mb update that I downloaded from my internal storage?! Can I simply delete it from the appropriate file, if so what is the folder/file called? or is it not as simple that?
If this 30mb update that didn't work cannot be simply deleted using my file manager app, then should I unroot my phone, and then try and update OTA again? and then root my phone once more? Would that work?!
