Jul 12, 2012I'm currently using Nikez Lente's ICS rom 1.0.1a9 and what is the system app name for the phone's homescreen where all my apps, widgets are currently stored. I'm a bit of a flash freak so every now and then I drag my at least 40-50 apps one by one.

May 24, 2010Currently I am using a blackberry tour and soon I will have the incredible. What is the easiest way to transfer contacts and whatever else possible to the incredible? Thought of desktop manager but that is only good when transferring to another blackberry. I know i could probably just bring it to Verizon but if i don't have to thats great too.

Mar 2, 2014I have a little experience using computers from late 1995 Year, and from year 2000 I am using also Linux from time to time, and very rare but it was a delight freeBSD. I have no experience on Android and MacOs.
Now, I all my family (father, mother, girlfriend and I) changed the phones on Android which is Linux based, but for ARM processors.
Anyway, I have played a little with Android 4 x86 on my laptop.From, my point of view, a Android Smartphone is just a little computer like an raspberry pi / pandaboard / beagle board.So, a mini computer with an Arm processor running a very small and tiny operating system max 8 Gb, when on my gentoo install I had been using about 30-40 Gb. I know, the size can be affected by the compiling flags but anyway.
Now, on all my system I had, from my experience I did 2 Backups, like this:
My laptop is backed-up on the External Hardisk number 1, and the External Hardisk number 1 is backed-up on the External Hardisk number 2.So, as it is a good practice to have a backup handy, I keep 2 backups in 2 different location in case of hardware failure / water flood etc. Some of the files I need are backed up in the cloud, on the internet.
I use to make IMAGES of the Operating System partition, and of the mbr , and of the partition table, with software like Acronis True Image, Paragon, DriveImage XML, Norton Ghost, Clone Zilla.
When I had to do data recovery I did an Acronis "sector-by-sector" approach image of the hardisk, and I recovered files from that image.
I assume that maybe I will need to get root on one or two phones, and one phone need's to be unlocked from the carrier.
Before doing this I would like to make a full backup of the phones.
1) How can I make a FULL backup of the android phones? In this moment my mother phone is a samsung galaxy mini2 Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 s6500 and mine is Sony Xperia L
2) a) If I will "unlock" the phone from the carrier (locked on orange, but i wish to use also Vodafone, I tim, I wind, moviestar, o2 etc)
b) If I will "root" the phone to gain administrator acces on it
After step A) and B) if I will restore the original backup, the phone will be "locked" back to Orange, and "un-rooted", or it will be "unlocked" and "un-rooted"?
3) Instead of having an hardisk like computer have, I guess the smartphone is using an "usb-stick/sd-card/ssdhdd"-like memory for storage of the operating system, so how can I see the partition table, the mbr, on the device?
HTC EVO 4G :: Nandroid Backup On Different Phones
Aug 31, 2010I had to get a replacement phone. New phone came with 2.2, so obviously I need to root it. But my question is, can I make a nan backup of my old phone, and once my new phone is rooted restore to my old phones backup?
I have heard that a nandroid backup is saved in seperate folders depending on your phones serial number. I'm not sure how true that is. Someone said that I would have to make a nan backup on the new phone so it creates a seperate folder, and then copy my old backup into the new folder, and restore.

Sep 30, 2010When i click on batch, then run to backup my apps it jumps back to the Backup/Restore screen with all the apps, nothing gets backed up. I have backed up before with Titanium and it worked. I reinstalled Busybox, didn't help. If i uninstall and reinstall will i lose all the things i did like freeze apps etc ? When i try to update through the marketplace it says installation error, package file was not signed correctly.

For doing this i've implemented a BackupAgent in my code and i included this in the Android Manifest file and "Meta-data" ( Got after registered my Application's package with the Android Backup Service.) When i run the application to do the backup this is not performing the backup.. Im using Nexus one device(connected to WIFI also). why it is not calling my BackupAgent's onBackup() method?? I know this may sound simple but am under the impression that when you make a backup of your ROM and other files on your device, it has to stay on the device.
When making a NANDROID backup, is it safer and more useful if one can store those backups on one's computer ?
Am sure there's a way to do this but am not sure if there's already an app for it.

Sep 30, 2010I have the root app Titanium Backup. When I root my friends' phones, I like giving them all my root apps with a quick transfer of my SD card app backups from AppControl.
BUT, I have never been able to find the backup file for Titanium Backup. I realize they can just download it from the Market, but where I work I get no service so I can't download it for hours for them.
Does AppControl or even Titanium Backup itself actually back up Titanium Backup? It seems almost like they skip over the APK because I can never find any backed up APK files that have the words "Titanium" or "Backup" in it. I've never been able to find the file!
Motorola Droid :: Data Backup - Not An App Backup
Feb 23, 2010I DLed Titanium Backup, but it wasn't obtaining root access. I read here that I probably need to update to a newer version of BB. After a bit of a fight, I finally managed to get BB 0.4 onto my Droid. I figured I was safe b/c I have Lookout, which also backs up data. Yeah, it backs up contacts and pix, that's it. So here I am w/ a nice, shiny new rom, and a completely wiped phone.
Now, I know my old info is still there. I know I could just recover into my last version. But then I wouldn't be on this rom. Is there any way for me to get that info on here, or do I have to do everything manual? Or could I restore the old version, and not need to do a wipe when flashing the new rom?
Man, no matter what I good I start to feel about myself w/ what I've already learned from you guys, I'm quickly reminded that I'm barely scratching the surface.

Jun 21, 2010Rooted DInc then removed some apps like city id. I had purchased some apps before I rooted and I was curious as to first, how and where do I backup using titanium backup? Second, say if I factory reset my phone then put the paid apps back on would it still recognize that I already paid and still give new updates? Also side question, if I remove friendstream will facebook still sync with the facebook app and sync photos my phone book?
