Generally while I'm at work my Droid sits on my desk, leaning up against my laptop. Usually I have it plugged in to the USB cable so it can charge while I'm using my computer.
I'm at my desk for approximately 4 hours out of the day.
What app should I be running while it sits there so I can see something more interesting than my finger prints reflecting back at me?

With the kickstand, the phone makes for a great desk clock when I'm just sitting at my desk. I was wondering if you could recommend other apps that would be useful while my phone is idle? A better desk clock, besides the stock HTC one? Weather? News ticker? etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been running White Widow 4.3 and wanted to try out a new ROM. I've heard so many good things about xtrROM 3.03 that I decided to give it a shot. However, after installing the rom, my phone just sits at the boot screen. I've let it sit there for somewhere around 20 minutes and it just keeps looping the boot screen over and over. Has this ever happened to anyone else before? Or does anyone know what I should do to get this rom going?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been using my Bionic as my alarm clock since I got it. I have a dock at home, and the display stays on all night when docked. I also periodically dock my phone while at work, which also keeps the display on.
I realize that the phones are meant to be used and they wouldn't build these features into these phones if they were bad for them... right?
My question is this: How many people dock their phones and use them as alarm clocks, and have you ever encountered any problems with prolonged use and the brightness or sharpness of the screens?
I am concerned that I am wearing out my display by keeping it on all night while I am asleep.
Very often when i try to load a website the browser sits there and does nothing, no upstream or downstream, then, finally when the 3g arrows start doing something the page loads instantly. What is going on? Do i need a different browser?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMicro usb used in the droid desk dock has a specific name or type? The usb plug used in it does not have the little locking tabs that are traditionally present in micro-usb plugs. The absence of them makes it really easy to remove the droid from the dock and I want to buy one to try to incorporate into another dock. I suppose I could always try to break off the tabs, but I would prefer to find an off the shelf solution since it already exists.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was curious why at home when I'm connect all the time with wireless that the wireless status would not display immediately when I unlock my phone.
So today I left my wireless settings page up. Then let the phone lock and sit idle. When I opened it sure enough the wireless had diconnected and as soon as it was unlocked began obtaining an IP from my network.
THIS IS NOT THE BEHAVIOR I'M LOOKING FOR!!
I like to have various apps running while at home and I want them to go through my home wireless not 3G.
This seems like something Verizon would probably prefer as well.

My Motorola Droid will turn on, but it will not go to my home. It will just stay on the start up screen (black background with white logo in the center).
Now this didn't happen until i decided i wanted the CyanogenMod on my phone. I used this tutorial: Full Update Guide - Motorola Droid - CyanogenMod Wiki.
So I started with the first step and I installed SPRecovery succesfully using RSDLite, but when it rebooted it wouldn't get to the home screen. Then on RSDLite it said "REBOOT MANUALLY". I waited longer to make sure it wouldn't turn on eventually but it didn't. I finally disconnected it and tried various things... to try and get it back to normal. Did i brick it? also my phone was already rooted.

Seeing as Motorola is locking down the Motorola Droid X and likely the Droid 2, what should I replace my Moto Droid with? I've been totally happy with the phone to the extent that I tell people it's the coolest thing I've ever owned in my entire life... that's 51 years for you youngsters. I'm of course on Verizon and will stay with Verizon. I've paid zero attention to any phones other than the Moto Droids. Alas, lockdown is not acceptable. So now I have to go through the whole learning process all over again.

A couple key features that woud make this a great application:
1) Ability to store the password (though not visible)
2) Ability to automatically redial when disconnected.
I hate having to retype my password everytime the network (verizion not work) bumps me off and it is anoying to have the vpn disconnect and not realize it until I haven't gotten any new messages for a while.

I was not consulted or warned, only informed after the fact. It does not cause any problem in my app. I used the getSDcardPath (syntax approx) rather than hard-coding /sdcard/data..... and I have not found any other conflicts.
How are Android updates handled on devices? Always done automatically, this instance of auto update was unusual, or what?
If it is always done automatically then we MUST incorporate all accommodations for future changes that are not backwards compatible just to keep our apps running on machines that they were designed to run on. (it is difficult to anticipate all future changes!)

Can anyone call the last number they dialed in less than 5 moves on Motorola Droid without having that contact set as a direct dial shortcut on their Home screen?This is after screen has timed out and phone shotcut is not already open. I currently have to>press power>swipe or use pattern>press phone>press call log> press phone icon next to name. I'll try to be as detailed as possible. Things to note right off the bat: - Motorola Droid 2.1 - Windows Server 2003 laptop - ADB has worked perfectly with this for ~ 8 months My work gave me a HTC Evo to do some development on. I installed the HTC drivers, ADB worked fine, did my development and now I am done with the Evo. The problem is my Droid no longer works with ADB.
