Motorola Droid :: Celsius Only In 2.1 Desk Clock?
Mar 1, 2010
Anyone got a fix why the 2.1 desk clock app or cradle is only showing the temperature in Celsius. I have unchecked the Celsius icon in the settings but no luck. If i tap the Celsius weather is shows the temperature in Fahrenheit.

I have Aloysius v12. Running Launcher Pro home. While in clock mode, the T is showing in Celsius. I have the Celsius UN checked, but still it shows Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. Anyone know what is up with this?

I want the HTC Desk Clock Widget (the one with great weather animations, etc) on my Droid X. I was thinking it would be easy, but I'm guessing I'll have to "root" both devices. In lieu of that, does anyone know of a Desktop Clock app WITH weather that actually works properly on the Droid X. The one I purchased the other day (and since returned for refund) (from "Apps4Cause") was virtually non-functional.

So I'm loving 2.1, but Well, when I started up the desk clock application, I excepted to see some links to media and stuff, like on the Droid. Was I just assuming that was going to be there instead of JUST a clock, or am I missing something?

I have been using my Bionic as my alarm clock since I got it. I have a dock at home, and the display stays on all night when docked. I also periodically dock my phone while at work, which also keeps the display on.
I realize that the phones are meant to be used and they wouldn't build these features into these phones if they were bad for them... right?
My question is this: How many people dock their phones and use them as alarm clocks, and have you ever encountered any problems with prolonged use and the brightness or sharpness of the screens?
I am concerned that I am wearing out my display by keeping it on all night while I am asleep.

I'm looking for an app like Desk Clock, but something that displays more information, especially text notifications. When I am at work, I like to have the phone on my desk, with the kickstand, and just having the Desk Clock app running. Is there any other application that lets you see some good info while in landscape mode? (If the 'scene' UI let you see them in Landscape, that would be the best solution...)

Is there a good desk clock with adjustable brightness and potentially themes? I would really like something too use at night since the EVO has this handy kickstand.

Anyone know of a way to stop the desk clock app from disappearing once the screen time-outs? my screen i currently set to time-out after 1 minute which ideally i don't want to change. however, what i'd like is for the desk clock to display when my phone is on my bedside table during the night. at the moment i lose the clock as soon as 1 minute has passed which seems to make this app quite pointless. Ive tried using an app called 'keep screen' but found this to be a little annoying

So the default Sense clock widget has a mode called desk clock, and it basically switches the entire screen to a black background with a digital clock on it. It's simple, but I like the idea for when I'm sleeping or working on the computer or whatever. Thing is, the screen still times out and locks itself at the normal length of time, which makes the mode pretty useless. Does anyone know of a way around this, or is this really feature really that poorly planned?

Is there a way to load my own tones to the desk clock? I'd like to take a clip from a song using Ring Droid and make a wake up tone that is more soothing and less startling.

Both my wife and I have Desire HDs and we are both experiencing this same problem. We have our phones charging overnight on the bedside with the night clock activated, but after a random amount of time the phone starts going what I can only describe as 'wappy'. It's as if there is someone tapping the screen and selecting options, all manner of things are happening on the screen, apps are starting, search boxes opening. No clock though. I've made sure there is nothing touching the screen and then sat and waited for it, it just starts happening for no apparent reason. Any ideas? My logical mind has already ruled out paranormal activity.

Anyone figure out how to get out working? Double tap home gives voice command and holding search gives voice search and no way to change default.

I have a non-rooted Droid 2 and the Desk/Home dock. When I first tried it out, it worked as expected-starting the home dock screen when placed in the dock. However, I now find that whenever I dock the droid, the notification bar shows that it is connected to the multimedia dock but it does not start the dock application. I used Astro to browse the /system/apps folder and found the Dock app- clicked on Open App manager and then Launch at which point I get a message saying "Activity not found com.motorola.dlauncher". I don't know if this is why nothing is happening when I dock the Droid but can anyone tell me why this suddenly stopped working and what I can do to get it working again?

Generally while I'm at work my Droid sits on my desk, leaning up against my laptop. Usually I have it plugged in to the USB cable so it can charge while I'm using my computer.
I'm at my desk for approximately 4 hours out of the day.
What app should I be running while it sits there so I can see something more interesting than my finger prints reflecting back at me?

How do you change the weather from C to F? I read on the user manual to go to the weather widget then go to main settings however, there is no way to go to main settings.

I know I can change the Google Now card settings to celcius and it also changes the voice search. But I don't want to use Google Now since I have no good use for it and on my leaked firmware it is a battery drainer.
When I disable Google Now after making the change to celcius it resets all card settings to default and the voice search goes back also.

Micro usb used in the droid desk dock has a specific name or type? The usb plug used in it does not have the little locking tabs that are traditionally present in micro-usb plugs. The absence of them makes it really easy to remove the droid from the dock and I want to buy one to try to incorporate into another dock. I suppose I could always try to break off the tabs, but I would prefer to find an off the shelf solution since it already exists.

So I never used the alarm before (in 2.1 or 2.2) I was using the stock alarm clock in 2.2 for the first time this morning. But when the alarm went off, there was no sound, only vibration (fortunately the sound of the vibration on the table was enough to wake me up!). The first issue is that there was no ringtone sound even though the volume was on and a ringtone was set. Then next issue is that when I went to slide the slider to dismiss the alarm, it didn't do anything. The phone kept vibrating madly and the phone was fully functional. When I went to open the alarm panel again (through the app drawer, cause it was no longer a status icon), it said the alarm was off, even though the phone kept vibrating. The only way I could get the darn thing to stop vibrating was to turn the phone completely off then back on.

Tell me favorite wheather/clock app. I would like to have something as close as possible to what I had on my incredible. 1st day with Droid X after switching from Incredible and loving every second of it. It is much different however so I can't wait to get it all down. Took about a week with Incredible.

I don't know if anyone else is having these problems with the Droid Unrooted on stock 2.1-update1 (ESE81), but my alarm clock never goes off in the morning at 6:00 AM like I need it to. I don't want to purchase a travel clock. No sounds are off, both Wifi and Cellular Networks are enabled, but it will go off occasionally. (Usually if I set it to go off in the next minute.) Could it be my task manager?
I use the alarm mainly for traveling, I have a dedicated alarm clock that I could use at home, but I would prefer not to.
