My sister sent me a tracking number and I could not find a way to copy it. Just wondering if it's always like this I'm coming from a Windows Mobile phone where you could copy almost anything.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently switched from iPhone to nexus 5.On the iPhone long pressing gave the options to copy and paste single word or whole paragraphs. In SwiftKey on the nexus,long pressing brings up a blue pointer that gives me just the option to delete the word before it. I can't see any way to select a line of paragraph, then copy and paste it.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am switching from a BB. I receive text messages from my office with client's phone numbers. We prefer to keep our mobile numbers private, so we need to block our caller id on a per call basis. It wouldn't work for us to block caller id on all calls. On my BB, I would copy and paste the number and then add *67 as a prefix.
On the Hero I can't find a way to edit the phone number from the text message. I can delete it, but can't add to it. Most of these numbers I would not want to add to my address book. I had my office text the number with *67 as a prefix, but the Hero doesn't recognize the *. It just copies the digits. What workaround options do I have?

Now before I get flood of 'get handcent' and ' get chompsms' responses, I'm letting you all know that I have used both, and I have found both either don't show or don't save pic messages. I'm a promoter so I need to use pic messages, so don't mind the stock messenger since its the only one that works right with pic messaging. The only problem I have with it is that I can't select multiple contact from my list to text at the same time. How is this not a stock feature? If it did that, I would delete the other messenger apps and save very valuable space on my phone.

I'm a recent iPhone convert -- picked up a Samsung Captivate last week and have been really enjoying it, though I think I may get a refund and switch to the DroidX due to various issues I have with the Captivate.
Anywho, one pressing issue I haven't been able to find a solution to is regarding email.
1. How do I copy text from an email? I know if I first reply to an email then I can copy text, but is there a way to do so without having to first hitting the reply button?
2. How do I move emails from one folder to the next?
I'm currently just using the stock email client that came on my Captivate, are there others that are more powerful (not sure you can really call it 'powerful' to be able to copy text and move emails around).
Is there no way to select text to copy from the browser?

When selecting text on a touch screen, it sucks because your fingers block your view of the selection courser. I am not a huge fan of the magnification bubble that I've seen as it also blocks some of your screen.
I would like to propose a new selection behaviour that behaves like smearing paint on a sheet of paper. To select several words from a paragraph you would start the selection process (This would most likely be from a menu item "select text") and then touch somewhere inside your desired target. Then you would smear the selection highlight to one end and then smear it the other way to expand the highlighted area. You can smear back and forth as many times as you want always expanding the highlight until you lift off the screen. If you select too much, you need to cancel but I don't think this will be a problem often.
This behaviour is very similar to the current selection function except that when you start moving the other way it leaves the highlight at the max position you reached so you can go the other way and select where that max position should be.
With the current method if I don't place one end of my highlight correctly, I have to start over. This usually happens multiple times which is annoying.
Anyways I was wondering how or what app would allow me to copy text from a webpage and then save it to sd card?

While browsing, I often like to open a linked page in a new window, so do this via long pressing the link. However, it seems to me to be totally random whether long pressing a link brings up the context menu (which is what I usually want), or goes into text selection mode.
How do you control over which of these two actions occurs when long pressing a link?
I can't select 3rd party text entry types.
Go into Language & Keyboard - I see Big Buttons Keyboard, Swiftkey Beta and HTC_IME mod listed, all 3rd party keyboards I have installed.
I select one of them. It gives me a warning, I say OK, box is ticked. This keyboard is now selected.
I go to create a new SMS or enter something into the browser.
Stock HTC Keyboard.
I try again. Choose a different 3rd party keyboard. Stock HTC Keyboard.
Am I Just missing some essential stage in the process here, or is something messed up?
