View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a nube when it comes to the smartphone world and just got my first a couple of days ago (MyTouch 4G). I'm jumping into this headfirst but was wondering what the more experienced "Apps" users think are the most essential ones to have handy on your phone. Mainly, which apps will just in general improve the daily use of the phone as well as other apps. For instance I've noticed that when looking at most apps it requires you have another software/program loaded in order to use that certain app.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am currently learning app-making for Android with Eclipse. I have downloaded android SDK manager and the android plugin for Ecplipse.
The problem is:
- I'm creating an Android project
- In my current tutorial i need to find the main.xml-file in the res/layout-container.
- The tutorial says the main.xml -file automaticly will be created when a project is created.
- I can't find any file that is names main.xml, nor can I find a similar file that should contain the same code.
- If I create an Activity while I'm creating an Android-project, a xml-file with same name as the Activity will be created in the res/layout-container.
what do I have to do to find the main.xml-file?
Is there a Rom that has bare items in it? I'm talking about just the basic basic essentials that makes the stock rom look like a joke. Something that doesn't contain ringtones, music files, just the bare items to keep the rom going: basic phone, basic texting, etc. and no added items like facebook, twitter, etc. No added scripts, features. If none like this exists, then does anyone know what is safe to remove from a stock rom and what needs to stay? I'm looking into making my own personal rom (and maybe one I can share with you all) that I can play with as far as adding and removing items while maintaining max storage space on the phone itself.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android. I recently was an iPhone fan but thought that Android was a better alternative to iPhone. So anyway, I have a few questions about the Captivate. Does Android have support for apps that you can use to password protect certain apps on the phone? Like messages, and photos for more private stuff. Another question I have: is the Captivates reception really bad? I currently have the iPhone 4 while it doesn't have the best of signal, its not too bad either. And my last question is if the captivate has support for 32gb cards. I'm sorry if someones already gone over these but I could find anything right away. Anyways, I look forward to Android and the Captivate.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSo I originally had a Nexus One on T-Mobile, hated their service, cancelled, and sold the Nexus One for essentially what I bought it for. I recently moved to Sprint, where I have an HTC Hero on the way soon. I'm curious if the Google account I originally used with my Nexus One is linked to the applications I've already purchased and if by using that same account when my Hero arrives if I will be able to install those same applications w/o having to repurchase them. It makes sense in my mind as they were not sold with the Nexus One as the phone was wiped, but I'm not sure if that's the way it will work. Any incite?

View 1 Replies View RelatedFirst up apologies if you already know this, I only just fixed it and wanted to spread the solution. All day today I have been unable to download any Android apps from the marketplace, it's been very annoying. It turns out the problem is to do with Google's new offer for UK users to change their googlemail.com email account to a gmail.com account. Once I changed over my HTC Desire was suddenly unable to download apps from the Android Marketplace, it would forever say downloading and make no progress. The issue is with the Talk application on the handset, it needs to sign in on your google email address and that is what authenticates you to download from the marketplace. Now your email is a gmail.com address (rather than googlemail.com) the 'Talk' application cannot login and so you cannot download anything. There is no option to tweak the settings for the Talk application on the handset, you are stuck with the settings you already entered when you first set up the phone. So either you A) remove your googlemail.com account from your phone then re-add the gmail address. The problem is removing your googlemail.com requires a full phone reset, this involves losing EVERYTHING on your phone and starting from scratch.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been messing around with some ROMs on my Droid1, every time I flash a new rom it auto restores my apps. It hasn't done this at all until today. I have tried disabling it in my settings but it still doesn't stop. Also when I go into the downloads page in the market to cancel them, I can some of them but when I try to cancel the others if causes the market to force close. I would like to know if there is anyway to stop google from auto downloading them when I sign in? When I turned off the backup it said it would delete the info from googles servers, but it obviously has not lol because I have tried flashing the rom over again since then. I know most people would like this to happen, but I want a clean install.
