When User flick left/right (at tab page area), Tab page will switch to next tab page. I want to disable this feature in my case. But I searched the source code of TabHost, TabWidget, ViewGroup, View.... I haven't figured out which part of code respond this feature...

Long time blackberry user and I just traded in my tour yesterday for the Droid Eris. Let me just get this out of the way first and say WOW what an awesome phone this thing rocks the casba better than any blackberry I've ever owned.Ok now that I've got that out of the way here is my deli-ma and if this has been posted and answered before please forgive me as I did conduct a search prior to this I just couldn't find a thread that related to my scenario.Ok so I work for a huge IT company and when I was on the BB I had a rule setup with my BB desktop manager that any emails that came through with the word PAGEME in the body to forward that email to my phone as a level 1 message and cause my phone to explode in the process. (btw the PAGEME was added by our BES so that will no longer be an option for a filter) so what I was wondering is this, is there a way with this phone that I can setup a similar rule whether it is something that I have to configure on the phone itself or in say Outlook with a exchange rule. Whatever be the case I am open to anything all that matters is that we can make the phone do some god awful sound when a page comes in so that way I can at least assure that my phone will at least wake my wife up so she can kick me and wake me up . The positive thing is that the page will only be sent to me so whatever rule we'll be creating will be specific to me being the only recipient. And yes the page does come through as a email. I can change the pager address to be mynumber@vtext.com thats not a problem but I'd rather leave it going to my regular email that way I get the full page instead of just the first 160 characters.

I've looked on the phone and tried to research online without any luck so I have turned to to the real experts. Help!

I'm trying to make it so that as long as a user is touching the button, it shows one image, and when the user releases the button, it goes back to a default image.
I'm trying to use a selector to make this happen:

I've tried a few things with the selector, but it always produces the same behavior: the button starts out with the default image, then I press it and it changes to the "record_on" image and it never goes back to the default image when I let go.
Is there a way to get this kind of behavior with an ImageButton, or should I be using something different?
Few questions about the EVO: If I pre-order at BB, can they hold the phone for a week or so? I'm going to be out-of-town for about a week after the launch. I don't want to wait until I get back, since they will likely be sold out.
1 Year contract possible for a higher up-front charge? I was looking at the HTC Incredible, and I like that I can pay $70 more for a 1 yr contract. If Sprint's network leaves something to be desired, I'm concerned about a 2 yr contract. I'd also like to get device upgrades each year...a 2 yr old smartphone these days is not fun to have.
Here is the problem, I am building an application and have multiple images that need to switch when the user touches the screen, doesn't matter where the users touches. The press the screen and the images switch randomly. I purchased the ebook "Professional Android Application Development" and have torn though it. I am stumped. I'm thoroughly confused at this point. Any ideas on where I can go or how I can accomplish this?
View 11 Replies View RelatedIn January, I acquired a Nexus 7, and in July, I met my boyfriend. Yesterday, I suggested that we put a user account for him on the tablet, so that he could have quicker access to his own email, writing and so forth. This we accordingly did, and he has been having great fun installing apps for chess and ukelele playing, as well as working on his writing. However, this means that the lock screen is back. The lock screen irritates the b*ggery out of me, and I disabled it as fast as I could when I originally bought the tablet. The way you are meant to switch accounts, however, involves bringing up the lock screen every time, and it also means the lock screen appears whenever the tablet is wakened from sleep. I tried disabling the lock screen, but then we couldn't switch user accounts.
So far, the best solution I've found is to have a desktop widget for the No Lock app, so that I can have the lock screen disabled during the day, when I'm the only one using the tablet, and then put it back on when my boyfriend is around and we're both using the tablet. This will probably be fairly manageable, and I realise that I'm whingeing about a few seconds of screen-swiping here and there, but what would be really lovely would be if we could just have a widget we could press on our home screens that allowed us to switch user accounts, without all this faffing around with lock screens. I've been hunting through Google Play apps, and so far all I've encountered is one which sounds thoroughly dodgy and may not even do what I want.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to Android, and have the Nexus One. Before getting it, I was planning on getting the Nokia X6, which has a very cool widget that shows pics of your contacts in a row on your home screen, and allows you to scroll through them.
I assumed there would be a widget like this for Android, but can't find one. All I've found are ways to put a single contact as a shortcut on the desktop, or a few contacts together. I really want it to be compact and scrolling though. Any ideas?

I have a ViewFlipper which contains a few linear layouts.I need to allow the user to flip through them.I've seen other apps which have arrow/triangle indicators on either side of the screen, which, when pressed, flips to the next view in the set.

View 3 Replies View RelatedGot the OTA like everyone else and everything works great. The ONLY thing I have realized is that my photo Gallery (the stock one) is running SOOO slow. I used to be able to flick through the photos without ever coming upon a grey square (with no pic). Now, after a strong flick, I get nothing but grey squares. They eventually load into pictures, but it takes about 3 - 4 seconds before they load. Any ideas? Could it be there are too many pics in the phone / card or is this as a result of the update?

View 3 Replies View RelatedBattery Left was the first thing I installed on my phone when I got it. My battery life has been terrible so I've been trying to track down the problem. I woke up today, unplugged my phone and didn't touch it for an hour. Battery Left says I have 70 percent left but the battery meter in the status bar showed full. I uninstalled battery left and installed Battstatt and it shows 90 percent (2 hours later). Anyone else have problems with battery left? I hope this fixes my battery problem.

I have spent ages trying to find an app that lets me upload selected web pages in advance, so that I can read them at my leisure without needing an Internet connection. This is mainly because I spend a lot of time using my phone on the underground when commuting to work, but would also be useful when I am flying. I can't seem to find such a thing, is anyone aware of a such a thing. Ideally I want one which knows my page preferences in advance and synchronizes without the need for manual input. There used to be a website called avantgo which did this (in a more cursory form) for pdas, but they disappeared a few years ago and I haven't tracked down an android equivalent.

I'm working in Eclipse, so I want a solution that automatically bundles them.I've tried putting my web pages in res/raw, and I can read them as an input stream from there, so I could push that into a WebView. But I'd really prefer if I could stick them somewhere and access them with a URL. I've tried file:///android_asset/about.html but that didn't work. Surely there's a way to form a URL to display bundled pages.

I want to do all thse things through code which needs to consider evry aspcts as we are doing the same using browser. I submited the first login page using code and got the resonse page. on submiting the I agree page I m redirected to a some other page.it seems the cookie is not handled while submiting the second page or may be some redirects or so.
The same is working well if i make the request through browser

If any ppl cannot figure out a solution, whether we can load url in the browser class of android so tht we can get all the data in the browser and can use the methods associated with the browser.
I have several suggestions for features and some bugs to report in applications I got from the Market. Yet I can't find a web page to even start sending my bugs/suggestions in. On the official Android site, the applications section nowhere near matches the Market. I have a question & a suggestion for the Android developers:
A) Is there already a collection of web pages that match the apps that I missed?
B) If there's not, this would be a very nice thing to have to get applications in the marketplace: okay, so you wrote the code, here's your free hosted web page to describe a bit about your app, as well as a bug tracker for your app that anyone can register for. The "free" part COULD be paid for or something by T-Mobile & whichever other carriers eventually run Android.
If you downloaded new applications from some setup like this instead of the market, then people would know about it and know where to turn to talk back to the developers. Alright, keep the Market for new applications (and maybe rename it to "Beta"), but once they have gained enough popularity (or some other metric), they get moved to the hosted bug tracker/etc. site, maybe called Alpha.
My app Consists an intro page with "Start", "About", etc..
I managed to create a functional version of the app by having the "Start" button call a new layout in which a new onclick listener is defined.
This doesn't seem clean to me that I@m defining a new onClick listener for each Layout I use and wonder how the correct way would be to create individual pages (including my "About" and any other screens I implement).
I want to show wml page on android. I have designed small wml page. I am using Apache server to deploy the pages. But the page is not displaying. It is displaying just like xml page.

Still it is not working on android emulator...
Does anyone know if there is an app for the Hero in which you are able to jump between certain pages, instead of constantly having to flip through each page?
