Android :: T-Mobile Sapphire Ram Size?

My phone is T-Mobile Sapphire (may be same thing as HTC Maggic I think). Now I am wondering what's its RAM size. I went to the console and type in 'free' command, got the total memory is about 99xxx, that means about 100M RAM, it looks too small! Was I checking the right source? The spec. on the net says it should be 192M.And, the Sapphire on my hand get a 3M camera, but the specification on net says that should be 5M. Which one is right?

I installed a custom HTC Hero ROM about a month ago - all was perfect. Decided to gift the phone to my phone and did a factory reset (idiotic move I know) which has now left me in brick status.I have adb set up although it doesn't recognize the phone when it's connected via USB and in Fastboot. Any advice on how to get it recognized?I've checked the SD Card and everything remains in tact (it's readable, has my Nandroid back-up, etc.). The issue is that I can't see to get the computer to recognize the device to go about my backup. Any thoughts / suggestions?

I was playing with the new version of Sapphire (0.6.2) and with the themes available now...I thought I'd share some of the wallpapers I created to go with the ROM.This theming also helps me identify what ROM I'm running cause I flash so many.I just noticed a lack of themes and options for the Sapphire ROM so trying to spread some love their way.

Installed thru ROM manager, looks like it went thru backed up and installed ok, but now I am hung up on the screen that shows the Sapphire instead of the Droid eye.

I just rooted my droid to froyo (sapphire) and everything seemed to be going smooth until i rebooted the phone from recovery. The motorola M screen came up and then the sapphire came up. After about ten seconds it goes away and reappears and has been doing this for the past 35 minutes. Is this normal? Any clue on what i need to do to fix this?

I'm running Sapphire 1.1.1 and like it so far. Coming from Cyanogen, I'm mostly interested in the music volume rocker controls for skipping through songs when the screen is off. I know the problem with Sapphire has typically been that the volume rocker controls sometimes continually skip through songs when the button is pressed, but mine seems to only start the current song over. Anyone else have this problem? The lock screen controls work fine, but I'd like to get the volume rocker working correctly so I can keep my eyes on the road when driving.

So I'm loading images from a web service, but the size of the images are sometimes smaller or bigger than other images and the visualization looks silly when I put them in a ListView in android. I'd like to fix the size of my ImageView so that it only shows a portion of the image if it's larger than a preset amount. I've tried everything I can think of setting the setMaxWidth/setMaxHeight, setting the scale type to centerCrop, using ClipableDrawable wrapping my BitmapDrawable, setting using Drawable.setBounds(). I've tried setting in the XML and programmatically, but neither worked. I'm very surprised setting max width/height didn't do anything. Below is the XML I'm using ImageView definition in my layout file

I am currently developing a dictionary application with voice database. I would like to know about the current Android limitation on the file size. I am using a self-provided sqlite database ( > 50mb ) . I tested that once the built .apk size exceeds ~30mb the app will not be installed onto the simulator (INSTALL_FAILED_ INSUFFICIENT _STORAGE). Could anyone confirm me that if up until now there is no way to embed such large size files in a single apk ( Aimed to sell at Google Market without requiring user to download datafile afterwards). Also, is there a limitation of 1,048,576 bytes for a single file in the assets folder ?

if size of image is larger than or smaller than specified display size (on screen), then it is automatically, compressed and stretched resp by android run time or require to handle by explicitly.

Can somebody explain to me what makes up the installed application size? I have an apk that is about 8 MB, and often when I install I get the INSUFFICIENT_STORAGE error. I have around 25-30 MB free space on the phone. I'm doing debugging so I have to upload lots of new versions. If I uninstall the previous version then I can install the new version. The application manager claims that the app is taking up 22 MB. So back to the original question, how come the app is taking up 22 MB when it really only is 8 MB?

I would like to know why the size of my shared library .so is bigger than my .apk file generated with Eclipse? Approximatly the so size is twice the apk one. What is strange is after having installed it in the device (2.1 firmware) I checked the size of the apk when I uninstalled it from the device and surprisingly the apk size indicated is bigger even than the .so one. Is there any explaination of that?

My app downloads .png files to the sd card for later use. I kept getting OutOfMemoryErrors (if anyone could explain this too, that'd be great!) and so I took a look at the sizes of the images saved to the sd card, and they seem to be roughly double what they are on the server. Why is this, and how can I make them smaller?

This is my first post. I've had a Moto Droid since day one, and I just love it. It is without a doubt better than any phone that I've had over the years, and that includes the iPhone, BB, etc.
However, there are 2 things that I don't understand - Font size and a spell checker. It is imposiible to read the small font size in emails or text messages.
1. Why has there not been an app to either change the font size or be able to zoom in? Picasy has incorporated multi-touch for zooming, so I've to assume that its doable! Why not have the same in an email client.
2. Why is there not an email client out there that allows for spell checking? There are many such apps for the BB! I am a terrible speller.
I am not complaining, I just want to understand the limitations from a developers prospective, as I am sure these isuues will eventually be addressed.

I have an ImageView which I want to always be the same size. If the image is smaller than the view, I'd like it to be centred in the view. If the Image is larger than the view then I'd like it scaled down - with aspect ratio preserved.I've had several attempts at this myself

I have created a custom icon bar in Android using the XML layout creator, using a RadioGroup within a LinearLayout (XML included below). Each RadioButton within the RadioGroup has a custom drawable (with checked and unchecked states) as its android:button attribute. The Linear layout is itself within a RelativeLayout so that it can appear at an arbitrary position on the screen (as a side bar, in this instance).The drawables are 55 pixels wide, and the android:layout_width attribute of all these views is "wrap_content".When I make this component visible, aligned to the bottom-left of the screen, only about three-quarters of the RadioButton image widths are visible. Setting the layout_width of the RelativeLayout to "fill_parent" rectifies this and causes the full button to appear.However this means that the button group consumes click events across the entire width of the screen. How can I make the entire button appear, and have only the area of the button respond to clicks? How can I use Skype to make a mobile to mobile call and not use my verizon minutes. I have friends that are doing this with the Samsung Omnia II on verizon and everyone I know with an IPhone on att is able to do it. When I try to make a mobile to mobile call a box pops up and says have to use verizon minutes. I also paid for the mobilie to mobile plan on Skype

Sprint Nextel Corporation - Investor Relations - RSS Content. Kudos to Sprint, this is coming just in time for the March Madness, which is great! I hope this has been tested for enough viewer capacity because it sure will be tested by every Sprint TV customer. I am watching Lafayette v. Lehigh game live. I can definitely wait for Sprint to prepare another app to replace NFL Mobile Live for before the Football games start. Hope this is the beginning for a long season of good news from Sprint, Android 2.1 should be around the corner.

Issue: Switch on tethering OR mobile hotspot ->mobile network dies
I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.

Recently I logged into GMail with my browser instead of the GMail app, and discovered what I've read before elsewhere... that the GMail mobile web page seems cooler and better, than the app.
So, I've been thinking... which is better? Is either better? Can they both be equally good?
Either way, it occurred to me, it's interesting that all the Android blogs fall all over themselves almost weekly to come out with various "Best X Android Apps" articles, but I don't think I've seen any articles about the best mobile web pages for Android (or any smart phone for that matter).
I understand the money is to be made in apps, and that not much can (yet) be done with the web that you can do with an app (until we have workable Flash?) but surely there must be some great mobile sites out there that are better than, or equal to, apps?
I'm appealing to all of you then to make your suggestions for Best or at least good mobile web pages to use on our Android phones. I'll be looking around myself, and will possibly turn the results into a blog post of my own.
Here are a couple of starters that seem to be better than the app versions:
- Gmail: nicer interface, quick access to GTalk and Buzz as well as Calender, etc.
- Evernote: www.evernote.com/m Evernote has a really good mobile web site in case you don't want to download the app.

I have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?

Has anyone else tried this? Thought I'd add sky sports bundle. First try just said payment pending. Phoned T-Mobile, woman asked technical and came back to say it wasn't supported anymore and I couldn't get it. However, just tried now and its working but only on 3g and not WiFi.Thinking it's because my broadband WiFi is blocking access as it is o2.
