For some reason after I changed my gmail password it keeps saying "Sync is currently experiencing problems, it will be back shortly." I tried logging into the gmail app but it keeps saying invalid username/pass. Won't even let me log in to facebook either. Running 2.1 (not rooted)

I searched and didn't find a good solid answer.I want to change my Google account password.I can do that online easily enough, but what will happen with my phone account? In my search I found someone who said it would just prompt for the new password and someone else that said it would factory reset my phone.So, has anyone here actually done this and what happened?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had my Captivate synced to my work and school exchange server for about two months now. This morning, I had to change my work exchange password. However, on my phone....when I into Account Settings>Incoming Settings and try to change the password. I get "Two exchange accounts allowed". It seems it thinks I'm trying to setup a third account rather than change the password to the existing account.
How do I change the password? (I've thought about deleting the account....but my fear is that it will create another instance of calendar and contacts. which happened once before, also annoying...if anyone knows how to get rid of the old duplicated calendars.)
If I wanted to change the password for the account synced with the Droid, what would I have to do to make that work?
Also, what would happen if I just changed it from the web interface?
I installed an update to my ROM and restored apps + data to my phone and now the lock screen is stopping me from unlocking the phone. so i installed a bypass app to at least unlock my phone.
I need to either remove/reset the password so i can change it or have something to change the password.
I just got the sample sync adapter code running on the emulator, but how do I add account in it when it asks for username and password? And I have the following questions
1) SampleSyncAdapter is for 2.0 and in 2.0 emulator I don't see the Accounts & Sync options in the Settings, am I missing anything? so for this I compiled this app in 2.1 and ran on 2.1 emulator
2) In 2.0 emulator when I launch Accounts option from Contact app, it crashes? I saw this a raised bug, is this solved?
I'm not able to find any example or documentation or tutorial about how to enable or disable sync (background data and auto sync) programmaticaly, even if i can found many widget that can do that without root access or such.
How to implement that into my code?
i found some trick with URI and content://sync/setting but it seems to be not possible with android 1.6 at least :-( any idea why? and what replaced this?
I need to put a good password keeper on my phone. There are many, of course. I want to get one that also has a desktop version. My question is when syncing, what do you feel is more secure? Syncing to a cloud such as Dropbox or straight WiFi sync between my phone and pc?

So I went to a friends router and entered the password into my smartphone and connected to the Wifi successfully. While in the network I synced my smartphones Google account. Then I enabled Wifi hotspot on my smartphone in order to sync my N7 Google account to receive the newly synced password. But sadly after syncing I couldn't connect to the Wifi because the password was not synced. What did I do wrong?

The password screen locks and when it asks for the user name and password it states invalid user name / password!
Is this a known problem since when I called and talked to both Verizon and HTC the only thing they could tell me was to do a hard reset and they weren't aware of this problem?
I have just spent ages adding contacts to my account on the sonyericcson.com website and wanted then to sync them to my new phone - the X10. When I try to log in to the SE sync function on the phone, the phone is telling me that I have used an "invalid username/password". I have used exactly yhe same as I used tio log in to the site on the computer, and I have checked it a few times, but it doesn't want to accept it.

There was a message mentionning i would lose data if I do so, but why is my phonebook that is normally on my sim card disappeared since I re adjusted google sync? View 1 Replies View RelatedI have contact pictures for my contacts that I have chosen and assigned to my contacts manually and are stored as the Google contact picture, I have an issue with the facebook app when it syncs a facebook profile picture update the application forces the contacts default picture to be the facebook picture.
I don't want it to do this, it can change the facebook linked contact picture but why does it have to change the contacts default picture?? Is there some way this can be blocked or stopped from within Android contacts??
This has been prevalent since before I can remember with the facebook app and sync. Surely submitting a bug to facebook is not the solution as we SHOULD be able to control and/or lock portions of our contacts details..
So i can log into my youtube account just fine on the youtube app.but then i keep getting an alert at top of incredible, saying couldn't log in to youtube account. when i go to my accounts/sync.there is an error message there (despite the fact that im logged onto youtube app!).says "incorrect password"wtheck? i remember having similar issue w/ my moto droid, and i just made NEW youtube account and it worked.am i missing something? do i have to log on differently on the account/sync area w/ a gmail domain?

I was wondering if now that I have root there is a way to install a boot password similar to the one I have on my computer. Before it loads the operating system, the BIOS asks for a password. Is there any similar functionality for android?
Also, is this possible on other devices even if it is not on mine? It's one of my favorite laymen security measures.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm implementing my own sync adapter and everything works great. A strange i'm having is that after the sync is over, the Android still shows the sync icon (the one with the rounded arrow) in the account activity, and that someone (i guess its the account manager) repeatedly calls the sync again and again, every 30 to 60 seconds. Now i tried all sort of things to test this issue and i have discovered something strange. In my code, i do resolver.applyBatch every 50 new rows. (each new contact i sync has about 5 rows). If i remove the applyBatch (which means i retrieve the data from the next, sort it and prepare it, but never "commit" it) - the problem goes away. The icon disappear and the account manager never calls it again on its own (I'm using Android 2.1). I must also state that no exception is being thrown in any of the cases and that all the methods finish gracefully.

However, most of the screenshots are a mix of two frames:The separating line is in different positions.This leads me to the conclusion that the screenshot is being made while the current frame is still being drawn.Is there a way to get the screencap in sync with the hardware?Are there other methods of making screenshots where this doesn't happen?

Being a linux user, I don't entirely understand why root access is completely unprotected. Type su and it elevates rights. Now I can understand why everyone is so touchy about rooting with new users. Is the reason for it that certain scripts or programs need to occasionally run as root? If not, is there a way to place a password on root access? I'm sort of thinking out loud here, so feel free to post your thoughts.
