Android : Way To Tell K9 Which SENT Folder To Store Messages In?
Jul 28, 2010I use K9 mail via IMAP. There are two SENT folders with the account. Is there a way to tell K9 which SENT folder to store messages in? Problem is, when using my laptop the messages are stored in one SENT folder, while using K9 messages are store in a different SENT folder.

Jun 24, 2009my friend has got himself Android Developer Phone 1. But he is not developer, he just wants to use it as a normal phone and he doesn't want any hassle with firmware updating (and he's not interested in root access etc.). If I flash the official U.S. G1 firmware into his phone, will he then receive normal OTA firmware upgrades, or will his phone still report as ADP1 and will he have to update manually?

Sep 17, 2009Does anyone know how to get the debugger to launch on an ADP1?. It was recently flashed to 1.5. Dev platform is Eclipse on Windows XP with the SDK 1.5 USB driver installed (HTC Dream Composite Interface). Windows can see the device and adb can see the device with "adb devices" command. USB Debugging has been enabled on the device and the application manifest has android:debuggable="true" set in it. The LogCat windows is showing log output from the ADP1 too.
But when Selecting Run->Debug or Run->Run the avd is always launched. The instructions say that it should launch to the device or give a choice if the avd is running too.
Do anyone know what needs to be done to get the debugger to launch against the real device instead of the avd?
Android : Why Can Not Edit /init.rc On Adp1 With Firmware 1.1?
Mar 18, 2009I flashed my adp1 to firmware 1.1 following the instruction from HTC. http://www.htc.com/www/support/android/adp.html But after that, I want to modify the /init.rc, after I remount the rootfs as writable, I can edit or replace the /init.rc file. But the file will roll back the original version after reboot the phone. Before I modify the /init.rc, I install the busybox to the phone, then I use 'cp" command to replace the /init.rc Any one can give me some advice?

Jul 16, 2009I bought an ADP1 from Brightstar Corp in November 2008 and everything was great until about a month ago when the camera window shattered in my pocket. I've called Brightstar who told me to call HTC, I did and they only sold the T-Mobile G1 backplates. My Android Market homepage only allows me to buy the ADP1. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get this replacement part without buying a new phone?

Feb 12, 2009I am trying to iterate through all the photo images (produced by ADP1 camera), held on external SD storage in an ADP1. I want to extract the binary data for each image file, determine image size in bytes and send the image data (possibly after compression) over a network conection.
My code is generating an exception when I try to generate a Bitmap based on Photos taken by the ADP1 Camera, stored physically on External SD Card Storage. It looks like the image size is exhausting VM for my application.

Then all a sudden when i went back to text someone else my whole thread was gone and all my messages had been deleted. Dec 28, 2009I tried the steps above, and it didn't work. I then compared it to the steps on the other link, and there it says to do mtdblock4, not mtdblock3
So I typed mtdblock4 instead, and I rebooted from the adb shell in the computer.
The boot animation went fine, and then when I got to my homescreen, I freaked out!
It is all black. Instead of the unlock button, there is a green button with an airplane symbol on it. It says NO SERVICE.
The bar IS transparent, but it has these weird symbols on it, not the normal ones.
AND, to make it worse, EVERYTHING is force closing. I'm getting messages after messages of force closing. NOTHING works.
I can't even pull down the notification bar to get mount my sdcard in order to delete the .apk file from there. All these stupid force close messages keep propping up.
Also, it says that the date is Wednesday, December 31 (the 31 is a thursday, though), and it has a time of 6 hours from now.
NOW,
I am actually still in debugging mode, and I still have access to adb shell.
IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO? I'M FREAKING OUT HERE!
(Why oh why did I have to root my beautiful Droid! I think I killed it!)

Jun 22, 2009I'm writing an application that needs to store some small jpeg or pngs. Looking at the documentation i have seen that databases are stored under /data/data/package_name/databases I decided to store my data under /data/data/package_name/files. With the emulator i can see all these files (databases and images) under the proposed directories but moving the application on a real device and installing a file system browser i cannot see any file under /data. Can anyone explain me why? My application works perfectly on my mobile (HTC magic) so i think that data is downloaded and stored. If this is a security constraint,do i need to put the application under debug on the mobile in order to inspect file system?

May 5, 2010I'm just looking for some insight into what would be the best way for me to store images as part of my app.
I have an activity that represents a 'Job' which has a couple of edittext's and underneath was planning on using the Gallery component to show images relevant to this job.
The job data is stored in a database (on the sdcard) so was also thinking of creating a table to store 'JobImages' and having each image stored as a byte array.
But I'm not sure if it would be better to store the images directly on sdcard under a folder structure specific to my application and the job. E.g. using the job ID number as a folder name.
Depending on which method I use will greatly determine the code that goes into an 'adapter' that allows me to bind to the gallery component so before I begin I was wondering if anyone has had the same design problem and what option they chose.

Apr 6, 2010That's a lot of code... no time to read it over now.. but off the top of my head: look into either using a database, an Application class (that will run the whole time your app is alive), or adding extras to the Intent bundle before starting your subactivity. These are all methods to pass data around between activities.
