Android :: How To Start Debugger On ADP1 Device Rather Than AVD

Sep 17, 2009

Does anyone know how to get the debugger to launch on an ADP1?. It was recently flashed to 1.5. Dev platform is Eclipse on Windows XP with the SDK 1.5 USB driver installed (HTC Dream Composite Interface). Windows can see the device and adb can see the device with "adb devices" command. USB Debugging has been enabled on the device and the application manifest has android:debuggable="true" set in it. The LogCat windows is showing log output from the ADP1 too.

But when Selecting Run->Debug or Run->Run the avd is always launched. The instructions say that it should launch to the device or give a choice if the avd is running too.

Do anyone know what needs to be done to get the debugger to launch against the real device instead of the avd?

Android :: Debugger Doesn't Start On G1

May 3, 2009

Whenever I try to run debugger for my applications, it gets stuck on "Waiting for Debugger." It works fine on a ADP1 phone. Leaving it for a while ends up restarting the phone. I even reset the phone to factory mode and the problem persists.

Android : Debugger Suddenly Can't See My Device

Sep 27, 2010

I was debugging away and moved my phone a bit and the debugger lost contact. I figured it was just a loose USB so I reseated the cable and attempted to restart the debugger. Now the debugger can't find my phone. I can manage the phone from DDMS without any problem so it's not a phone, cable, or driver issue. Something went wacko in the debugger setup. When I go to Run Configurations in Eclipse, the phone is simply not in the list of choices. Any ideas where I can look for what's wrong?

Android :: Start A Service During Device Boot-up

May 24, 2010

I have written a class which extends the Service class of android and would like to launch the service during device boot-up. From the service I would like to receive the intents such as boot completed and screen off and on. Currently I am using a BroadcastReceiver to get the boot completed intent and then on starting a service to receive screen on and off intents. But I would like to remove either the broadcast receiver or the service. Any inputs.

Android :: How To Start Service Without Rebooting Device?

Jun 17, 2010

I've read the posts that state that there is no way to automatically start a service right after the package is installed. In my case, i have two apps- one runs as a service and collects data, the other displays it. the second app has the Activity which can be used to start the service. in order to provide the most accurate information, the service must be started immediately after installation. however, if the user decides not to run the activity immediately, then there would be a gap between the time the service is installed, versus when it gets started. of course, asking user to reboot after installation is one option, but not a great user experience. Any suggestions on how to achieve this?

Android :: G1 Firmware In ADP1?

Jun 24, 2009

my friend has got himself Android Developer Phone 1. But he is not developer, he just wants to use it as a normal phone and he doesn't want any hassle with firmware updating (and he's not interested in root access etc.). If I flash the official U.S. G1 firmware into his phone, will he then receive normal OTA firmware upgrades, or will his phone still report as ADP1 and will he have to update manually?

May 23, 2009

I was searching the internet but could not find a site comparing the two. I'm interested in developing for the android platform. G1 seems to be just the same as ADP1, but is there any small changes that will be noticeable in development? How about 3rd party software? What T-Mobile software exists in G1 which is not part of the ADP1 bundle and vice versa? Can I swap the original ADP1 firmware with T-Mobile branded one? As I understand people can already hack the G1 to run ADP1's non-branded firmware.

sscdbus.sys
sscdwh.sys
sscdwhnt.sys

What driver am I missing? I read that there should be four. One for adb? I have even tried selecting the adb driver and it still only installs the three. I build computers for a living and can not for the life of me figure this out.

I am trying to iterate through all the photo images (produced by ADP1 camera), held on external SD storage in an ADP1. I want to extract the binary data for each image file, determine image size in bytes and send the image data (possibly after compression) over a network conection.

My code is generating an exception when I try to generate a Bitmap based on Photos taken by the ADP1 Camera, stored physically on External SD Card Storage. It looks like the image size is exhausting VM for my application.

I attempt to extract a Bitmap via android.provider.MediaStore.Images.Media.getBitmap() static member function. Code...

(To be honest Im having multiple problems with the emulator and id rather just not have to use it.)

Does remote debugging work? If so, how would I get it working? If not, does emulator debugging work and how would I get that working?

Right now my "debugging" consists of setting the text of an onscreen text-view, but thats not a good long-term solution.

Nexus :: Battery Light Blinking Orange To Green Quickly - Device Not Start

Jul 5, 2010

I had to remove my sim card, which means that I had to remove my battery. After doing so, I put my sim card back in, followed by the battery, and after pushing the power button, the battery indicator started flashing green and orange.

The screen isn't turning on, and absolutely nothing is happening.

I've been pouring over google trying to find a solution, but haven't found any that worked.

One suggestion suggested that I hold the power button for 10-15 seconds, then plug it into power, then add battery. This did not work.

Another suggested the opposite- hold power for 10-15 seconds, add battery, then add power cord, still no luck.

I freaking love this phone. I really, really, really want to fix it. If there are any, ANY suggestions as to what I could do to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated. I tried to call HTC for support, but, wouldn't you know it, couldn't get to a phone before EXACTLY one minute before they closed.
