Android :: Stolen App On Market
Oct 4, 2010
Recently I've discovered that our app Little Python is distributed by developer who call himself Adam Gates. He renamed our app to snake, replaced icon and changed AdMob id. He has 55 published apps. Please take a look may be you'll find yours. Is there any way to shut him down? Please advise.

I'm looking for the best app that can be used to track a phone after it has been stolen (or lost). It needs to be able to be Started remotely.Able to send location updates on the web or by email or text Invisible Password-protected (preferably)I've found a bunch of apps by searching, but most of them have terrible reviews about force-closing and what-not.Any good ideas?

This shouldn't be that hard to make.( I don't think ) But how about an app sort of like a stolen phone tracking system? It would be hidden inside the phone so you couldn't see it but if anyone ever steals your phone, you can call the phone tracking systems company and find out where it is/who stole it? I think this would be useful because everyone wants this phone and after 90 days of this phone, you can unlock it so I'm pretty sure everyone wants to keep their phone safe.

What's the best app on the android market for locating a stolen phone?.
I'm looking for something which can relay the approximate phone location (based on gps/wifi) and lock the phone. Also, being operate with a different sim card would be a plus.

The EVO is in such high demand and low supply that thieves are walking out with fully-functioning display models during business hours!Yesterday, I went to my local Sprint store to purchase accessories for my EVO when I noticed that the two display models were missing. The CSR told me that a guy had snipped the cables during peak hours when the store was very busy and walked out with both phones. That same day, I went to another Sprint store and one of the display units was missing as well. Again, the Rep said it was due to a recent theft. In both locations, the EVO was the only phone stolen.Apparently the thieves are still at large. I am surprised that Sprint isn't able to locate the phones using GPS or even their own "Family locater" technology. What also perplexes me is what the thieves plan to do with these phones once they steal them. The service will eventually be deactivated. And if they try and sell them, wont they be discovered as stolen when they attempt to reactivate? I guess by then, the thieves have taken the money and run.Anyway, the EVO is such a hot and scarce commodity, that people are resorting to desperate measures!Has anyone else seen this happening in their local stores or do I just live in a high crime area?

So i received my replacement eris in the mail today from verizon and did the OTA activation..stopped in the middle and took me to verizon rep, who immediately demanded my name, phone number and password. I give her all the information and she asks where i got the phone, i tell her that verizon sent it to me and that i am trying to activate it on my line. She informs me that there is no way they sent me the phone im trying to activate as its a STOLEN PHONE!After having me read the ESN off of the phone, and the testers box they sent me, i proved them wrong. They are going to overnight me a eris replacement again and now i have to send back a phone that was reported stolen.

I'm new with VW and i need to figure out if i can recover my cell phone. Are they able to locate it with the GPS function? I didn't download any software or apps specifically for locating cell phone. My cell died the night it was stolen and i called it today and it rang so the person had to of charged it and is most likely using it.I'm thinking about seeing what numbers the person has called and try to use them to recover the phone. Either having the police contact them and ask who is their friend that called them from my number or me calling and pretending to be the police officer investigating the stolen phone.Any suggestions?

Well my phone was stolen today, which sucks. But it brings me to a question I always wanted to know - if my provider blocks the phone completely (sim&phone block), is there a way to hack it/make it work again?

I noticed that my Nexus One (stolen the 8th of July) still appears on my devices lists on Google Play, with some interesting information I want to clarify that this happens with the Google Account password changed (because I did it after the theft)!
My carrier wasn't Wind but H3G.
I assume there is nothing I can do, because I've changed the password of the Google Account (for security reasons), but I'm curious if there is some different way to find the new SIM number.
The IMEI would be blocked on the entire territory from tomorrow, so this thief will be able to use it with no phone functions.

I purchased a nexus5 off of some guy that was selling one in my local area. The phone was in the original box and I was pumped at getting one for a bit cheaper than they are on the play store. Although this last week it randomly could not connect to the network, so I called Telus (my Canadian provider) and after a half hour of troubleshooting they told me that the IMEI is blacklisted as a lost or stolen device? Is there anyway I can change the IMIE address?

I was looking for an application that make two things:
- First, you can't switch off your phone without the password (useful with nexus 4, because you can't unplug the battery without utils)
- You can't restore your phone without the password
These actions could be activated always or by your activating them on a website (like apps that allowed you to locate your phone)
This would be useful if your phone is stolen, you could locate your phone if it's stolen because the the phone wouldn't be switched off or wiped
I looked for an app like that but I didn't found it..If no, is there an hardware restriction?

My phone stolen, some prats smashed my window through and took everything. I've tried installing all of those tracking apps, but it seems my phones either constantly turned off, or has been wiped.
One day they are bound to use my phone, and set up another google account with it. I was wondering, is there anyway that I could find out what google account they use?

I haven't used this phone (Sprint Samsung epic 4g touch) ever since I bought an iPhone 5. (yes I know, don't judge) and I lent it to a cousin and it got stolen. Now I want to know if there's a way to know if someone else is using the phone with my google account. I went into the play store online and downloaded some apps and apparently they installed but when I check my devices it says last activity over a few weeks ago.
So I really don't care that it's stolen, I just don't want anyone accessing my google account and email. Is a password change enough to block anyone using the phone with my google account?

My friend just lost his Desire at an airport. The pattern lock is active, but that does nothing but protect the data on the phone - Not SD. The first thing they would do is to switch the phone off and replace the sim.
Now here is my question : Is there an app that will send an sms to a preallocated number if the phone is booted up with a different sim? I know some Samsung phones can do this. But having an app that requires your own sim to be able to find it if stolen is quite pointless.

I have an app that was installed via Android Market. And so, the Android Market knows when new versions are out and notifies me of an update. Titanium Backup calls this the 'Market Link', not sure what else it could be called.
how would I go about 'disconnecting' the app from the Market? Deleting the market link as if it were side-loaded?
Yes, I know this means no more updates for the app etc. Which is actually what I'm after.
I'm using a SGS - DocRom V9.6 with Speedmod Kernel k13a

I have the following clear message :
Market requires the minSdkVersion to be set in AndroidManifest.xml.
But my manifest has the line : <uses-sdk minSdkVersion="2" /> and I also tried even <uses-sdk minsdkversion="2" />... I try to put this line : as the first child of manifest, as the last child and also right after application.. Is there a hidden rule I don't know ...

I am developping (for my company) an app included on a project that will have 2 versions:
- 1st simple version to download using a OTA server, clients accesss to an URL to download.
- 2nd version more complex to be published on the Market.
The question here is that the process to publish on the Android Market is under bureaucratic internal process and it takes a long time, so the idea do reduce the time to market is to provide an OTA version.
There is any possibility for users that download application via OTA to upgrade the application for version published later on the Market? (Both Application will be signed with the same key).

I know my question answers but since there's a lot of you who really spend your time scrutinizing your rank, downloads and all, I'm trying it maybe someone came up with empiric science on this one :
Does anyone understood even bits of how the market ranks apps in the market ?
I usually don't look at stats but following another post on this topic, I counted my rank in my category ... 565 ... Ouch that hurts! Especially when half the apps in front of mine, are crap apps with less downloads and ratings as low as 1 star :).
Not that it would make a difference being rank 250 instead of 565...But this is humiliating a little :s
Since my app has been on the market for one month, i'm wondering if age matters ...
I know I should have asked in the market "black hole of hell " google group but the name says it all. And I'm sure some of you already figured out some of the black magic used by the Market to rank apps.

I've just noticed that the Android Market shows a blank page with the message 'No matching content in Android Market'. Yet when I go to specific sections of the Market or do a search, one is able to download and install applications and games just fine. I've only just noticed this happening in the last few days. I'm using an unlocked UK version Galaxy S but my location is Inner Mongolia, China. Would this have anything to do with Android Market not showing content on the front page? The S itself is loaded with Froyo, as downloaded from the XDA forums.

I had an edited png for the market icon in the vending apk but when I applied my edited png's to Ivans rom with the market fix it seems to have changed the icon back to the original market Icon. When I first loaded the rom it showed my edited png for the market icon but after my first reboot it seems to change the icon back to the original. I assume that the market is updating upon reboot so I pulled the vending apk off my phone and my edited png's are still there but its still showing the original market icon. Anybody else with an edited market icon notice this or any ideas of why its going back to original? I have tried this a couple times and it always updates after first reboot...
