May 12, 2010I am trying to find a sticky note app that will sync w/ the notes on my PC.I have found some good apps but none that will sync up.Any one have any suggestions?

Android : Sticky Client IP Address?
Feb 3, 2010I have an app which performs some online functions to a web server farm we operate using URLConnection. I'm finding that the client IP address of the phone seems to change after a fairly brief period of inactivity.
For example, please see these timestamps and the corresponding client IP addresses:
2010-02-03 09:46:47 / 32.152.30.98 2010-02-03 09:47:05 / 32.152.30.98 2010-02-03 09:57:21 / 32.152.218.197 2010-02-03 09:59:53 / 32.152.23.19
This is sitting in a stationary location (on an AT&T EDGE network) in my office. Is there some reason for this behavior?
Android : Can I Create A Sticky Dialog?
May 18, 2010I have an app that performs an asynchronous login as part of its startup sequence. This eventually displays a list of items.
A separate thread performs integrity checks on a database on the sdcard during the startup sequence. If something is unexpected, I do a sendBroadcast() that triggers a showDialog() on my base activity class. This asks the user on how to react to the unexpected event.
My problem is: this dialog disappears as soon as the startup sequence finishes and displays the list of items. Is it possible to make my dialog stay on top no matter what?
HTC EVO 4G :: Need A Sticky Thread
Jul 13, 2010Mods. IMHO we have a lot of new users that are rooting their phone just for the sake of saying that they have rooted their phone. We have seen this before with other phones, not unlike the iphone, but the reasoning behind JBreaking an iphone, in hindsight, is crystal clear. We were trying to get more performance out of the platform vs the crap the apple and itunes were offering. Most of us have lived and learned through that process and want to put it into practical application here with the evo hyc 4g platform as well. That being said its obvious that this is the main driver behind rooting the evo as well. It may best serve the interest of our/your users, new and old, to detail out the pros and cons of rooting the evo. If this already articulated somewhere in the forum I would say, i stand corrected and pardon me. If not lets ask one of our senior posters/mods to offer that advice up and sticky the post appropriately.

Jun 11, 2010Not that the above sticky is not useful and interesting. For those who have not read it, there is a debate raging about the effect of a specific OC setup on battery life.Regardless of that, has anybody else tried to overclock the processor for speed, or underclock it for battery? I am curious about a few things:
1. If you overclock the process for speed, which applications benefit? So far, there is very little lag anyway - without overclocking.
2. Is it not necessary to up the voltage going to the Evo processor when overclocking? For example, when I overclocked my home pc, I changed the voltage and the RAM timing.
3. When underclocking, if the same "stock" voltage is going to the processor anyway how does anybody expect to get battery savings? In my mind, the speed of the processor is not the issue, it is the energy that the processor consumes. (Or is this automatically handled by the widget behind the scenes?)
4. When underclocking the processor - have you experienced more lag? What is the "slowest" the processor can run before you notice anything?
5. What general experiences have you had with applications, the process, etc.

Aug 4, 2010Im on 3 and as of yet there is no update to 2.1 so im on 1.5 ..now this maybe the most stupid question ever but in the sticky slug posted it says coustom ROM'S and all of them are 2.1 does that mean i have to have 2.1 update to be able to use one of these ROM'S, if not what are your recommendations for a custom ROM ie what one from the list is best and why . what will they do/ what do they do , will it improve this already good phone and in which ways , also if i am able to put one onto the phone how do i do it.

Oct 8, 2010My Galaxy S came with a little piece of sticky plastic, with a cut-out hole for the lens itself, that covered the camera bezel.I assume this was just to prevent the silver bit getting scratched in transit, and not for anything important like keeping dust out of the housing, etc?I only ask because I assumed it was intended to be removed, but it was quite tricky to get off. So when I finally did get it off, I suddenly wondered if I should have done.

Apr 19, 2010My keyboard on my droid is like becoming less sticky. Like it seems like the adhesive underneath the buttons isn't working so the buttons make a noise every time I push them. I was wondering if this happened to anyone else or if my phone is just messed up because I wasn't sure if its even worth it to get a new one or if it'll just happen again.

So many users are really struggling with this, and its all possible as long as you get the set up right. People don't seem to see your yellow asterisk and it also doesn't give a huge amount of info. Coming from dumb phones where you just pressed the button this whole new way of doing things is a bit perplexing when you start out.

Oct 1, 2010My wife has a Captivate and I have a Vibrant. She does all the bills and uses mooLa! to keep a running tab on our acct balances since our bank's site is REALLY unreliable. We are looking for an app that is exactly like moola, but syncs between or phones so if I spend money, it will show up in her app and if she spends money, it will show up in mine. Any type of solution would work if we had a way to sync moola, that would be awesome if there's another app like it that syncs, that would work too get creative!

Mar 13, 2010I have been a Windows mobile user for over 10 years, and am slowly converting over to Android.I say slowly because what I'm doing right now is running a version of Android on my HTC Touch Pro2, off the storage card.I intend on switching over to a full-blown device soon, but right now, this method is allowing me to explore the OS and learn about Android before switching over.One of my biggest concerns is the transition from apps that I have used for years, and rely on every day.For example, I've seen several wallet apps in the Android Market, but I've not found one yet that appears to have a version for the device as well as the PC Desktop.I use Spb Wallet daily, and have hundreds of things stored in there. Half of the time, I'm using it via my device, and the other half of the time, I am using it while sitting at my PC at home. Are there some apps available that offer Desktop-to-device synchronization?

Android :: Some Missing Google / Calendar Syncs
Nov 25, 2010I posted this in the HTC Desire Tips and Tricks forum but think that may have been the wrong place, so trying here.I entered a years worth (2011) of appointments in Google calendar; mainly on Sundays but a few other days as well.I then left the automatic sync with my HTC Desire to update the phone.I was then looking at the appointments when I noticed that some had not synced. These are all those whose date in 2011 is later than this years date e.g. an appointment in Google for Sunday 20th November 2011 has synced to my Desire but the appointment from 27th November 2011 has not;nor have those for the rest of the Sundays in 2011.Over the two last days I have also done several manual syncs and rebooted phone.Some weeks ago I entered an appointment for 2012 and this has synced. I also brought forward a lot of appointments from my Palm TX, most for 2010 but one for July 2015, and these all synced.
Today I added two more appointments. On before 24th November 2011 and one after; the one before synced but the one after did not. I have also deleted one of the missing appointments from Google and re-entered it; still not on my Desire even after a manual sync.Is it possible that the Desire has a limit of say the number of entries or only one years worth from today's date (that does not explain the 2012 and 2015 appointments synced at an earlier time!)This morning I entered a further appointment for today and that has synced to my Desire. The others still not have.I also sync Google Calendar to Outlook on my Desktop; this has synced correctly.
Android :: Calendar Syncs Deleted Events
Mar 13, 2010I have the calendar app on my Droid set to sync with my google calendar. There are events in my Droid's calendar that were deleted from the google calendar a long time ago. If I visit the google calendar website, I can confirm that these events are not in the google calendar, yet they still appear on my Droid. I have tried deleting and re_adding the calendar under the calendar app's settings as well as using the "manage applications" area to clear all the data associated with the calendar. The calendar the appears empty, but after the next sync, those events come back (even though they do not show up on the online google calendar). What can I do?

Great news - it now will sync with Google Documents!GooMemo - Android Notes application.The developer had originally planned that this would be part of a paid-for premium version, but very kindly he has released it for free.For those of us Palm refugees who miss having memos synced between handheld and desktop I think this is the only application that does it properly. I haven't played with it very much yet, but it seems to work very well. In Google Documents all your memos are put into a spreadsheet with a different sheet for each category and each memo on its own row. This is maybe not the prettiest of options, but it makes it all very transparent, and easy to export your notes in CSV form if you want to move them elsewhere. The only slight irritation I've had is that it won't remember my Gmail password and I have to rekey it each time I want to sync.
