I have a home screen replacement app. It is set via the GUI to always be used as the home screen. How can I get that activity to start the original home screen on demand? Is there a published activity name for it? I want my replacement home screen to remain the default.

When I first Bought My Droid X. I installed GDE which I Love and also Lockbot Pro which I also enjoy the Versatility of. During my 2nd day of use my screen went blank and no matter what I did the factory screen would not return, so I did a Hard reset back to factory settings. Now my problem is, that my original factory home Screen is no Longer Available through the home Button even if I uninstall Lockbot pro and/or GDE.
AND when I press the home Button it always asks me If I want to go to GDE or Lockbot (but as everyone knows, U never pick the lock screen). Should I just give up the Apps I like. I have the desire to got back to the factory home screen. That's why I ask, I can't without doing a Hard reset everytime. By the way, My 1st Droid (with The hard keyboard) always gives me the option of GDE, Home, or Lockbot When I press the home Button.
I use HTC Sense on my phone, the problem I have is my phone is not saving my default home settings. When I push the home button it asks me which program I want to use to complete the action (either andriod Home or HTC Sense), I always click the box indicating I want to use this option as default every time I push home but 10 minutes later when I push the home button again it asks me again which program I want to use. I have double checked in my settings and it shows HTC Sense is set as my default home setting but something just isnt right.

Funny topic maybe, but I feel like I have a decent hold on app development, widget development, and even made a game. I'd like to tinker with creating a home screen replacement but havn't been able to dig up any examples or good places to start. Does anyone have any recommendations or links that might help out?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHas anyone been successful showing a notification, starting an activity, or loading the home screen *during* a call on the Droid? All three of these actions can be done with the emulator running 2.0, but will not run from the Droid. I don't receive any type of notification that these actions fail on the Droid. Although, every action works when a call is *not* active. Missed calls during a call *do* show up in the notification bar, so I am hoping there is a way.
I understand that the notification bar can not be accessed by users during calls, but it would be nice if a notification could at least be delivered. I also understand the security and usability concerns of displaying a window or action during phone calls. Although, there are a lot of users who would like actionable functionality based on calls.
Second time i've "made" this effect and don't know how ?
Today with my left hand (not primary for me) I'm tried to drop down notification bar and ... again Icons and Widgets start floating, constantly moving and whole my 5 home screens was compiled in one and I can scroll this summary screen.
How to do that again.Device is LT18i Android 4.0.4, stock .587 kernel, installed just this XPERIA Ultimate HD MOD[ver:1.3][ ICS.587/.431] but first time with floating widgets effects was w/o this mod.

On the standard Droid X screen a Google search box is included as standard issue. I accidently dragged it to the trash and know can't find it. Any help on where it's hidden?

When I go to settings > wallpaper > select from gallery, it's blank because there's no pictures in that directory and I can't use any of my other gallery apps to choose (I tried clearing defaults already). I just need the path so I can move the backgrounds into that specific folder.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOkay so here is another strange thing I noticed with the update.2 of the 3 phones that got the update now have a little home icon on the bottom of one of the touchwiz screens when you are in the edit mode. This page with the home icon can now be moved to whereever you want it in the positioning of the 1-7 screens you have and when you click on the "home" key at the very bottom it will go to that screen. Previously there was no home key and your home screen was either the middle or far left screen depending on the number of screens you had.

Steps to reproduce the problem:
- plug in headset
- lock screen
- press headset button for several seconds
What happened:
- No reaction, Google Now / Voice Actions not launched
- Manually unlock screen
- Long press with unlocked screen correctly launches Voice Search
What you think the correct behaviour should be:
Long press of headset button should launch Google Now / Voice Actions even with locked screen. Having to dig the phone out of your pocket in order to launch Voice Actions with a headset e.g. to place a call kinda defeats the purpose of using Voice Actions in the first place.
Adding insult to injury: long press is not broadcast to other applications because of Google Now, so it can't even be put to good use e.g. as volume control.

Ive had open home downloaded for over a month and i only used it for a short period of time before switching back to the default homepage setting. Now, because of the new features added to Open Home i want to switch back, and every time i open 'Open Home' it only opens until i hit the home key. Then it does not ask me what i want to use as my default as it used to. I went to settings>applications>manage applications>open home to clear all defaults but it is not highlighted for me to select it. How can i set Open Home to my default again?

When I click update it tries to acquire location but can't. I think I've tried everything to get it to locate my location. I've turned it on through google settings. I've turned on GPS on my phone. Problem is that huge Google bar at the top. Is there an simple way to get rid of it, like the select-drag-drop for other home screen stuff.?Also, there seems to be some limits on where I can actually put apps or widgets. Is there a way to adjust this too?I'd really like to put a dashboard widget in place of that Google bar.
Finally, is there a way to disable Google when I select or swipe nearby the bottom of the screen?

I updated my Droid Maxx to 4.4. The change I first noticed is that the home key takes you back to the home screen instead of just leaving an app and returning to the screen I was originly on. This is definitly new. Is there a way to turn it off?

When I slide my finger to go to Home Screen first thing I get is a blank screen, if I slide again I get a screen with Reccomende Play and Recommeded Apps plus the two icons I tried to put on my home screen. I have the galaxy discover phone from bell . new to android always had an iphone . Explain the difference between the google search bar on the home screen and the browser when i go to the applications .
does it matter which i use ? for example if i know the www address or if I just want to search say for car rentals and do not know the web address.
also my phone is a bell prepaid phone and when I use the browser to find a page i get a little pop up that says something about bell mobi whatever that is and telling me to bookmark it.

Second, you can't even avoid it.I would be okay if you could just hit that home button to go to the regular home screen once everytime you get in the car, but the problem is that every time you end a call and try to go back to the home screen it takes you back to that car-home screen.Has anyone figured out a way to either disable this or select a different app to open when the phone is in the car dock?My ideal situation would be to have the ability to have the QuickDial app open everytime the phone is docked in the car (any have that come up with the home button is pressed while in the car).

I can put a link to a specific playlist and I can put the Google SoundSearch widget on my home screen but not an actual widget that allows me to quicklly pause play skip etc. It shows up on my lockscreen but I see no option for the home screen. Before I rooted my phone I was having the issue that, despite checking the "Use by default for this action" box, my phone just plain refused to save what homescreen app to go to when I tap the "Home" button.I've tried clearing the cache. I've done factory resets and data wipes (although I did restore "all apps with data" with Titanium Backup). I've tried using the Home Switcher app. Nothing works.Right now my phone is running the current version of BB, ChevyNo1's 1.0Ghz 5 slot update.zip for OC, and am using AdamZ's Smoked glass theme. I want to use the "HelixLauncher" app as my default homescreen, but it's rather obnoxious having to constantly select it when I hit the home button (it'll save my default action for a few clicks, and then I'll have to set it again).
View 11 Replies View RelatedGo to menu>settings>applications>manage applications>contacts storage and then delete the data. I backed up my Google contacts on line first by exporting the file just in case. (Not a bad idea anyway, this way you'll have an Excel database with all your contact in case anything should ever happen to your phone). Then resync. It will all go back in without a problem.
I noticed that the file is about 1/2 the size now and I think that's because I didn't sync up all the Facebook data back yet (no photos matching to people, etc.). but I think I'll make sure it all syncs continuously again first, then try adding back in the Facebook info. So far two of the problems were solved by deleting old data (I didn't want to do a factory reset after getting 2.1 just where I wanted it except for the few glitches).
