Feb 10, 2009We want to disable the default dialer application and install our own dialer application on phone. We want to know how we can disable the default dialer so that it doesn't listen for missed calls, incoming calls and also it doesn't gets launched by other application for making calls instead our application gets launched. Only our dialer application should be listening on it. We want to use same format as existing content URIs supported by default dialer in our own dialer application. Is this possible? If yes then how we can achieve it? We don't want to delete the call log application code or we don't want to remove it from build. We want to have default dialer in device. Our dialer application will be installed later may be by downloading from Internet by end user.

Sep 28, 2009So my wife bought me a bluetooth headset (we have a hands free law starting in Ontario next month) and I finally got around to trying the default "Voice Dialer" app.Please correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like this isn't really a voice dialer. The app is _called_ voice dialer, but you can actually use it to search your phone for _anything_.When I try to use it to call someone, I say "Call Patricia". It pops up a box that asks if i want to call her work number or mobile number. At this point there doesn't seem to be any way to choose an option by _voice_, instead you have to actually press one of the options on screen.

Nov 8, 2008Has anybody else here had any problems with the dialer app locking up when placing or trying to pick up calls? I returned my phone after the 5th time it happened. Just curious if anybody else has had this problem, as I want to wait until this is fixed before getting another G1.

Oct 25, 2010i have a google voice number and i installed google voice on my droid with android 2.2 but it dosnt do what I want it to do.I want a dialer that is only used to make calls from my google voice number. I know you can setup google voice to:
-to make all calls from GV
-to make only international calls from GV
-make no calls from GV
-ask if you want to use GV (before every call)
I dont want any of these. I want my normal dialer to use my normal number and whenever I want to make a call from GV I want to click on an APP and have a dialer appear and any calls from that dialer are made with the GV number.my BB worked this way. I would click on GV and then start dialing and it made the call with GV.

Aug 4, 2013I have a Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250) and a Galaxy S4 Google Edition (GT-I9505G). Both unlocked and rooted.
With JB 4.2.2, the native SIP dialer has always worked very well and I could place and receive calls (using my own Asterisk PBX server) without problems.
With the new JB 4.3 OTAs now, whenever I place or receive a call, the incoming audio is perfect but the outgoing voice sounds terrible: choppy and noisy to a point where the people on the other side can hardly understand what I'm saying.
I flashed both units back to JB 4.2.2 and the problem went away, no matter the configuration or the apps installed. Conversely, I can always replicate the problem with JB 4.3, clean setup, no additional apps or services.
Android :: Speed Dialer Needed For Use While Driving
Dec 26, 2008I know, you can make short cuts, but they are a real pain (and unsafe) to use while driving. It would be great to long press on any number in the dialer and dial a selected number. By the way, I'm sure you've noticed if you select a number on the dialer, then press # a contact number on your SIM card appears. Not sure what the hell they were thinking of with that one...

Jan 28, 2014I am using XOLO Q3000, having Jelly Bean (4.2.1) on it. My Dialer is not working as it use to be in my XOLO Q800 (Jelly Bean 4.1). Dialer have following issues:Dialer doesn't show alphabetic keypad i.e. can't swipe to qwerty keypad Dialer doesn't act smartly i.e. when we type in the numbers it doesn't bring the relevant matches If saved number is come in different format then dialer doesn't show contact details.
e.g. - Suppose I have saved ABCD contact with 1234567890 number. If incoming number come as an 01234567890 then respective contact name is not shown on dialer screen. Same issue persist while dialing the number.

I managed to get the number to the clip-board, but then I couldn't paste it into the dialer! I'm using a DSTL1 which only has soft keyboard and I can't get combinations of shift and menu to make it work.

And the App crashes without the standard crash dialog.
