View 43 RepliesSeeing as I typically would only use this to watch NBA games on the go, I wasn't exactly head-over-heels to see the Slingplayer release AFTER the NBA finals ended. Well, the new season is a few months away and so I'm getting in some preliminary research done.If my primary usage of the slingstuff is going to be watching NBA games on the go (mostly on my phone on 3G, and maybe a little bit from my notebook but not often) which Slingbox should I get?Basically I don't want to pay extra for features I won't be able to use via the Android client, but I don't wanna go too cheap and end up with a crappy picture because of it. I'd like to be able to make out the different players at the very least

Sometimes when I start slingplayer, I get this: If I exit using the back button and come back to the app, it will work fine and not ask for that password. Anyone know how do I fix it?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI resurrected my old Slingbox last night because I decided I wanted to try it with my Android phone. I got the Slingbox working again, and went to the marketplace to download Slingplayer for Android. I did so, and paid the $29.99 for the app. When it completed, I ran the app. It gave me the selection screen where you select the slingbox you want to use...I did so. All of the sudden, a screen popped up asking for the reason I wanted to delete the application from my Android device. It had 4 or 5 reasons listed....but no option NOT to remove it. I hit the "back" button. Well, the app is gone. If I go back to the marketplace, I see Slingplayer with the option to "buy" but not that it is installed. If I look at my bank account, it shows the charged. Now I can't figure out what to do. Is there some sort of customer service for Android (google)? I sure haven't seen it. If I got screwed out of a application, I wouldn't worry about it, but this was $30. Does anyone have any suggestions?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI went to market and purchased slingplayer, but it won't download. It just sits here, saying 'Authorizing Purchase...." and never downloads.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed slingplayer and there was a problem that it would not show up as and app to add on the desktop. called slingox people and they advised to uninstall and reinstall they said that It would be no problem to redownload. I uninstalled then tried to reinstall and system said i had to buy it again, and it had refunded my orignal payment. It took my money again but advised that you can only do this once. Question now is what do you do if you need to reinstall the program, for any reason, ( had to reset phone, phone is lost and replaced by carrier, etc) i tried to backup with my backup and it will not backup slingplayer as it is a copyprotected app. does anyone have a suggestion for this problem?

View 6 Replies View RelatedIt says Slingplayer Classic (which I have) isn't supported, but I watched a Youtube video of a guy using one on his EVO, it functioned, just didn't appear to have all the bells and whistles. Going to have to give it a shot and see how it works on the Hero.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSLingplayer is now available for Android phones. It is only available via the Market. I have searched the market and it is not listed. I am currently in UK on three network with an unbranded X10. I know it is available in the UK market as a friend of mine is on Orange and it appears in his market.Anyone know why I can't find it? Does Three have different market and block some apps? I have also tried it via my home Wifi and it still does not find it? Been waiting for this for ages and it's doing my head in not being able to find it

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy slingplayer will slip some on my evo with a 8gb, class 2 unit. The playback pauses and has to buffer to play smooth. I just ordered a class 6 16gb unit and I was wondering if anyone thought that might help?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI finally rooted my Eris and installed KaosFroyo. All seems ok, had some issues to deal with, but got them figured out. Yesterday, I wanted to connect to my slingplayer, but my app doesn't work. It just starts, then disappears. I never get a screen up. Any ideas, or is there a log somewhere on why it might be crashing or whatever is actually happening.I also tried to move it to the SD card in Manage Applications and it says it is copy protected. Not sure if that has any bearing on this, but thought I'd mention it.I do like the KaosFroyo and really didn't want to start over with a different ROM.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am hoping some android geniuses might be able to help me out here. 1) How can I watch my MLB.tv subscription on this phone? I was very excited when I saw that android marketplace now had MLB at bat in its marketplace, but hugely disappointed when I found it does not support live games (like that other phone does). When I looked on Mlb.com for an answer it says Android does not support some sort of optimization technique that the other phone does. Its hard for me to believe with the hardware backing this phone that it is not possible. The workaround I used to use on my touchpro 2 was to use the skyfire browser to login and watch it. However when I download skyfire for android and try to watch the game it tells me I need to download flash. Is there a setting I might be missing? 2) Whats up with 4g speed? I know this probably isn't great to be bringing up about the company I work for but I have not seen myself or read of anyone's speedtest on the evo exceeding the 3MB/sec barrier. The speeds I consistently see are outstanding by 3g expectations but not near what I expected of 4g especially since I have seen our Mobile Broadband products consistently exceed those barriers. Is there something with device or software limiting these speeds?........................
I'm trying to find out if anyone has tried to use Evo + Slingplayer + mini hdmi cable and hooking up to a tv? Any success?

I hope this has been tested for enough viewer capacity because it sure will be tested by every Sprint TV customer. I am watching Lafayette v. Lehigh game live. I can definitely wait for Sprint to prepare another app to replace NFL Mobile Live for before the Football games start. Hope this is the beginning for a long season of good news from Sprint, Android 2.1 should be around the corner.
View 14 Replies View RelatedAndroid Version: 2.2 T-Mobile branded
Network: Base - a brand of e-plus, Germany
Taskiller Used: None
Issue: Switch on tethering OR mobile hotspot ->mobile network dies
I've installed Froyo on a T-Mobile branded Desire. After the update, turning on USB tethering leads to immediate loss of mobile network - it just turns itself off. Same goes for the mobile Wifi hotspot: turn on -> for 2 seconds, it's working -> mobile network drops off. Moving into airplane mode and back brings back the network, but tethering is a goner. With 2.1, USB tethering had worked. I'm on Base, a brand of e-plus. I've talked to their customer services, they say Base absolutely supports tethering.
Recently I logged into GMail with my browser instead of the GMail app, and discovered what I've read before elsewhere... that the GMail mobile web page seems cooler and better, than the app.
So, I've been thinking... which is better? Is either better? Can they both be equally good?
Either way, it occurred to me, it's interesting that all the Android blogs fall all over themselves almost weekly to come out with various "Best X Android Apps" articles, but I don't think I've seen any articles about the best mobile web pages for Android (or any smart phone for that matter).
I understand the money is to be made in apps, and that not much can (yet) be done with the web that you can do with an app (until we have workable Flash?) but surely there must be some great mobile sites out there that are better than, or equal to, apps?
I'm appealing to all of you then to make your suggestions for Best or at least good mobile web pages to use on our Android phones. I'll be looking around myself, and will possibly turn the results into a blog post of my own.
Here are a couple of starters that seem to be better than the app versions:
- Gmail: nicer interface, quick access to GTalk and Buzz as well as Calender, etc.
- Evernote: www.evernote.com/m Evernote has a really good mobile web site in case you don't want to download the app.
Has anyone found an app that will tell you when a call is mobile to mobile on your existing network?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to find a way of quickly switching off/on the Mobile Network setting from the home screen. When searching Google there's loads of pages stating that it is an HTC Widget that can be added. I have checked all the widgets on the Desire HD and cannot seem to find it anywhere. I am using an unbranded handset.
The Desire HD manual even states "You can also add widgets that allow you to quickly switch on or off certain settings of your phone, such as Wi-Fi, Mobile Network...".
Does anyone else with an HD handset have this widget ?
Has anyone else tried this? Thought I'd add sky sports bundle. First try just said payment pending. Phoned T-Mobile, woman asked technical and came back to say it wasn't supported anymore and I couldn't get it. However, just tried now and its working but only on 3g and not WiFi.Thinking it's because my broadband WiFi is blocking access as it is o2.
