Android :: Bring Up Active Dialer / Programmatically Send Dial Tones To Call?

Jan 27, 2009

I'm trying to write a convenience app that needs to bring up the active dialer for a connected call, but I'm having issues after trying a couple of approaches.

ACTION_DIAL - I've tried starting a new dialing activity and while this brings up a new dialer, it's not connected to the existing call so pressing buttons on the new dialer produces no dial tones on the receiver's end.

ToneGenerator - Created my own little dialer activity and hooked up ToneGenerator calls in response to button clicks, but then found out that it only generates tones in the dialer's earpiece and not on the receiver's side.

So... Is there any way to programmatically send dial tones to an active call? Any way to bring up the dialer of the active call and not the dialer for a new call?

HTC Desire : Dial Tones In A Call?

Sep 20, 2010

I'm probable being very stupid but despite trawling the forum and looking though the PDF manual I can't see how to enter tones during a call. EG for menu options.

Hitting "Menu" during a call severs the call (is it supposed to do this?).

There is a grid icon on the bottm of the screen which I thought was the one I wanted.

When i first got the droid in Nov , it was stunned that the dialer didn't dial by name.

I downloaded superdial, which has this capability, but it is running a bit slow.

Does anyone else have some comments on other dialers that can do this.

By this I mean that if I want to call DAD, I type in 323 and it brings up DAD in the address book. I have 700 contacts, and cant try scrolling to find names!

HTC Eris :: Want To "activate A Device" / Bring Up Dial Pad

Oct 29, 2010

I installed Nonsensical ROM on a Droid Eris, went to Verizon account online and hit "activate a device." I then dial *228 on the phone and I can hear the prompt telling me to press "1" to activate my phone. Problem is there is no way to bring up the dial pad! All that is on the screen is a speaker button and a back button. I am trying to find a stock ROM so that I can load that on it and see if I can get to the dial pad when I dial *228. P.S. I also tried *22890 and it still asking me to press "1" to activate! How am I gonna get this thing activated? I am phoneless until tomorrow unless someone here has an idea.

Android :: Want To Bring InCallScreen To Front While In Call

Jun 5, 2010

I am trying to bring the InCallScreen to the foreground when clicking on a notification, and am having trouble figuring out how to do so. My application is displaying information about the call and acts like a dialog (where it is translucent, so you can still see whatever is behind it). While in a call, I frequently hit the home button, and pull up other information (such as my contact list to read to someone the person's info). I would like to then click on my notification bar icon and pull up not only my activity, but also the in call phone screen. I know the in call screen has it's own icon in the notification list, but I would like to reduce the number of clicks to get back. code...

Android : When Take Or Make A Call The Screen Goes Off Before Bring It To Ear

May 30, 2010

I just got the Motorola Droid last week, and I love it. But I do have one problem with it. I've noticied that, and only when I'm in sunlight, when I take or make a call the screen goes off before I bring it to my ear and will stay off even when I pull it away to hang up. I have to wait for the other person to hang up and then slide out my keyboard to get the unlock screen to pop up. Inside however, there are no problems. Anyone else having this problem, and if so what did you do to fix it.? Technical said they don't know what's wrong with it, but I'm going to call them back after the holiday. Also I noticied that my alarm occasionaly doesn't work. Is this normal? I did download a pay app alarm clock, but I don't know yet if it will work 100%.

HTC Droid Eris :: Dial List Sesnsetive - This Way Started Call By Accident People That Did Not Really Want To Call

Feb 17, 2010

When you want to make a call - you press the phone button and the phone dial buttons pop up and on the top some names from the contact list. You can roll down to get the full list of contact names to select from...

My problem is that this dial list is too sesnsetive : it is enough to touch a name and puff it starts dialing right away. This way I started call by accident people that I did not really want to call. Can this smart dial be made less touch sensetive. Or better: an option when the phone will respond "do you want to call this person?" or something

Every Time I miss a Call and I click on the name/number- Its asks me to select a default option of whoch way to open that entry , that is, through Dialer or through History. I tried selecting history and clicked on the "always use this option" but the same thing kept happening every time. After a few tries, I chose the other option and did the same thing and it again kept appearing... It looks like there's a bug in this and it never really saves my preference.

Android :: Dialing IVR Systems / Sending DTMF Tones After A Call Is Made

I am writing an application that calls IVR Systems. For example a Customer Service line where 3 or 4 options or the telephone number must be sent after the call is made. Android :: Motorola Droid - Programmatically Send SMS To Email

Apr 9, 2010

I was wondering if anyone knew the proper way to send an SMS message to an e-mail address using Verizon's CDMA Motorola Droid phone. The internal messaging application appears to automagically do this. While 3rd party applications like SMSPopup don't seem to be able to properly reply to e-mail addresses unless you compose the message inside the messaging application. When the internal messaging application sends a SMS message there's a corresponding 'RIL_REQUEST_CDMA_SEND_SMS' entry in the logcat (adb logcat -b radio). When you send a SMS to an e-mail address it prints the same thing, so behind the scenes it looks as though it is sending an sms. The interesting thing is that if you look at the content provider sent box the messages are addressed to various 1270XX-XXX-XXXX numbers.

On other services you can send email addresses by sending a SMS to a predefined short sms number. And then formatting your SMS as emailaddress subject message
i.e. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_gateway#Carrier-Provided_SMS_to_E-Mail_Gateways
For example, using T-mobile's number (500) you can send a SMS to an e-mail using the following:
SmsManager smsMgr = SmsManager.getDefault();
smsMgr.sendTextMessage("500", null, "username@domain.com message sent to an e-mail address from a SMS", null, null);
It is possible to programatically send SMS to email messages from a CDMA Android phone? Does Verizon actually send your replies as SMS messages or are they actually sent as MMS or normal http email messages? Any ideas about how to intercept what the raw message being sent to see what's going on? It might be possible that Verizon somehow generates a fake number temporarily tied to an e-mail address (since repeated messages are not sent to the same number). But, that seems pretty heavy handed.

HTC EVO 4G :: How To Prevent Phone Getting Locked During Active Call?

Jul 7, 2010

Short version: Is there a way to prevent the phone from locking while on an active call? Former iPhone user here. With the iphone, there was a sensor that detected when your face was near the phone, so the screen was blank and disabled but the phone was not locked. When you pull your face away, the screen is active again.

On the Evo, it seems it has a similar sensor. However, after a minute it'll actually lock the phone for me while on an active call. So in order to hang up, I have to fumble with the phone to press the top button, then fumble some more to press end. Is there a way to prevent the phone from locking while on an active call, yet allow it to disable the screen when it detects it's being held up to the face?

They are also able to block(hide) the call screen... does someone know how are they doing that ?

Does all this means that android is not that secure after all ?
